I believe the setting step used by the ladies in the Poussette is a Highland Schottische step, which may explain some of the comments. There is a Strathspey setting step which does not appear in this dem as best I can determine. The travelling step is the Strathspey travelling step as is currently danced in RSCDS-style dancing.
The set for the strathsbey step is completely different than the one taught in the 70's and 80's. I should know my mom and brother were both RSCDS teachers and i had taken classes at various workshops
Things change. The Manual of SCD has been updated etc - but if you look at some of the videos from the 50s and 60s you'll see that the Strathspey setting step hasn't changed at all. The Vancouver dancers were technically correct.
The demonstration was fabulous, beautifully danced with elegance and style, great choreography and wonderful eye contact. Well done RSCDS Vancouver.
Sensational. Beautiful footwork, choreography and eye contact. LOVED it.
A wonderful demonstration and well danced with elegance in a beautiful way ...nicely done... .
