I'm a Forte 4 fanboy but the dovedale's are a more balanced speaker. I liked them both. Typical horn sound vs the pure British sound. I've got both sounds at my home in the same room. Just because both are 100% my taste. But Lenny, you really, really need to do some videos on the Klipsch kg series too! Greetings from Belgium

Hi Lenny! Even listening through my inexpensive computer speakers, the difference was stark. I am not sure if the gain was matched as the Dovedale's came off quite a bit louder. Or am I mistaken? With that being said, I preferred the Dovedale's. Peter Comeau would be happy with that. Of course, $2K price difference. Horn speakers vs cone. They are completely different products, obviously.

Interesting! I found that I liked both, surprisingly for me, and considering that this listen was via a cellphone(!) and headphones, so I figure I'd have to hear both 'in the flesh', as would be my usual practice. But my observation, for what its worth over this medium and its limitations, is that the Wharfedale presented a more smooth and natural timbre through the very important mid and treble, BUT I also found that the Klipsch was very pleasing with its enjoyable dynamic expression in the music, without sizzling my eardrums and parting my hair down the center, as per my memories of Klipsch. I value both characteristics, so, as I said before, listening 'in the flesh' would be necessay if I were going to chose betweenst the two. I was expecting the Wharfedale to smoke the Klipsch, but was amazed that I liked the Klipsch as well.

Well, obviously we can’t hear what you’re hearing but for what I’m listening to which is a SX-1980 using vintage German Canton speakers and running your channel through an Apple TV with a Topping DAC is that the Lintons overall sounded more recessed compared to the Forte’s. It could just be a volume difference but there was definitely was a difference on my end for what I heard. 🎶

I only listen to metal music so have to go with Wharfdale. If you've seen G.R. Research videos we all know the crossover is the downfall of the speakers. Even tho Klipsh redesigned the crossover because of Danny Ritchie they still suck. Listening to metal on Klipsh speakers is so fatiguing and horns are bad. Wharfdale speakers way more smooth. Both speakers lack good base especially mid bass. Both are way overpriced for what you get. Emotiva speakers are 10 times better at half the price. Love the videos! 😊

On my TV it sounded like the Klipsch speakers had more mid to high end range while the dovdale's sounded better at the bottom to mid-range. Just a question, how can a 150 watt amplifier be loud enough for anyone? I have the Klipsch Pro series speakers with a 350 w RMS Carver amplifier and for me that's still not loud enough. My speakers will handle 600 w RMS. My ears are old but they can't be that bad. I like extremely loud music, especially when I'm playing my drums to different records.

Nice.... To me. the Klipsch were cleaner and had more separation, The Wharfedales are harder to spell. Immediately the bass shined. But it bled into the mids and highs. Not like an overtone. More like a mute effect. I think with an EQ, I would drool over either. Out front middle is my thing. That's more the subject of the music. being able to appreciate every instrument is the goal. =)

Nice variety of kickass big speakers you have! Haven't heard HPM 100s but size wise they remind me more of my new gen 1 JBL l100 classics I recently got for around the same price of my used Forte IVs (3k plus shipping). Sorry, but 7k for those Dovetales is insane. I have Lintons too and like them and know Dovetales much better ( at least 4 times I guess based on price) but those plastic woofers will rattle with my very bass Marantz 2245 with loudness on whereas the Forte's with 140 watts of class A and JBL 100 classic with 150 watts marantz 300DC power and separates can put on rock concert level SPL in their respective rooms with no such problems. Robust kickass super fun speakers. Klipsch and JBL rule over nice polite Wharefales when it comes to rocking my best r2r recordings (favorite source) and sound amazing doing it!

@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard I’m not typically a warm midrange kinda guy. Sometimes but not much. One reason I don’t use my vinyl much either. I like fast dynamic highly detailed sound. I have many speakers and stacks of equipment but I always end up using my Klipsch LaScalas or Klipsch Chorus 2 and my Luxman for that reason. Fast loud and in my face

Klipsch was more sanitized. Wharfdales are warmer. For me, wharfdales for emotional or longer listening… I’m a linton owner for what it’s worth.

Actually this isn't a good comparison. I know that the Forte IVs are very sensitive to placement and if they are not in the perfect place you can't really hear their potential. Also, different rooms have different acoustics so this wasn't really a very good A/B test.

Well that don't make no sense coming from somebody that has the RP 600 and a friend has the Heresy there is no truth in that statement at all. My RF-7 III are truly built better than my RP-8000F that I run for my surrounds. That statement is almost funny. 😂

😊😊😊 the Forte's definitely they have a much wider more expense in room filling sound in a much softer feel to the honestly.. but I would prefer you put on some Todd rundgren Todd album and then follow that up with Alan Parsons project tales of Michigan imagination and I could give a truer review
