If not, what kind of damage are taking? Frozen seat belt buckle? Unusable center display?
@@itsyo42there whole car is design to - 25. That is industry standard. What kills it is not the temperature, but the condensation. We have train that not allowed to disconnect from shore power when store outside because the condensation will kill the electrical component

My concern with driving hood down in winter isn’t how cold it might get in the cabin but getting covered in wet salty Schultz inside the cabin from other cars and trucks.
Don't worry, you won't even notice rain in a convertible with the top down (and a proper windscreen behind you) when you're driving with motorway speeds. Until you have to slow down till below something like 80 km/h...
Also there is no salty schmutz when temperature goes below -10°C.
@@RoccoH That's the neat thing, 99% of the roads in Norway are 80 km/h or lower speed limit.

I remember when my heat pump died in my model 3...in the winter halfway through a 1000 miles road trip. Daytime was fine but at night over mount passes was so bad.

Owning an mx5 as a fun car (the daily is a m3p) MY Top down mode ON: no highway, no rain, temperatures between 8°C and 25°C. In all the other conditions I don't really enjoy driving roofless (too noisy, too hot/cold) But hey watching a brave guy exposing his health for science purposes...is priceless 💪🏻 😅
PS: you have been my first ev youtuber (and mentor) when I had my 1st Tesla about 7 years ago

I love this car but I'm 1.85 metres tall...I love your madness for doing this though, I often drive a convertible in the UK winter with the hood down, but I don't think It's ever been -8C.

No need to touch a screen just tell it what to do! :P And do not worry about the consumption...my MG4 running today in ECO mode never higher then 90km/h in +4 degrees still ramps up 21-23 pr km...Even in the hottest summer i cannot get this car to go below 16ish. Dunno if the car is bugged or the insystem measuring is but my range just plops down from 430 to 330 as soon as temps go down to +5 celcius. in -20 my car does like 250km max. I do go maximum heat in seat, steering wheel and in the cabin though cuz i don't wanna be cold. It is fine as i knew this up front having owned 3 EV's but some ppl get shocked in the low temps how much range it looses. LOL i had to edit cuz my MG4 also tops out at 29.8.
It looks like the anchor point of the icon in navigation is set to center of the icon, even if it should on the left bottom corner. That's why it shows location differently during zooming. They probably changed the icon during the development and nobody tested that.
Friendly reminder that the manual for any cabrio/roadster with an automatic roof explicitly prohobit the use of the automatic roof function at negative tempratures, because the hydraulic fluids can become too viscous and it may sieze the roof in a half-open state.
Used to drive a Peugeot and it had the same sort of warning in the manual. Tho this might be a hard-top convertible thing, I still wouldn't recommend pushing your luck...

Regen is lot smoother in A (adaptív? Auto?) mode. Learned on my MG4. Otherwise the software is crap, and no hope to get any better, well didn't got better from the MG ZS...

I have driven my previous MX-5 in freezing temperatures with the top down.
With the cabin heater and seat heater on, a good jacket and beanie hat it is no problem... But I would not do it without the cabin heater, so to do it in an EV would be rather inefficient.
My last ICE car was also an MX-5 with heated seats but no heated steering wheel. The cabin air outlets can be directed at your hands on the steering wheel, which is very effective in cold conditions with the roof open.

lol why don't you just buy some heated clothes? You can get some really nice ones and they are HOT when turned up to max. You can even test the efficiency of them!

Vil anbefale id7 tourer. veldig god bil å kjøre med god plass i baksete selv med førersete heilt bak. stort bagasje rom. eg har gtx versjonen som firma bil og kjører ganske ofta med tilhenger. selv synes eg 1200kg hengervekt e litt lite men for mange fungere det fint
