    You can close the vents by moving them fully to the left or right depending on the vent :)

    Hi, thanks for the information you have provided. Here in Turkey people are complaining about the start-stop mechanism which most of the cars suffer from. After some time your car doesn't get started automatically after stopping. You have to turn it off and on again to go on. And most of the people complaining about the a/c issues too somehow a/c can't cool the car (probably you haven't faced with this issue because of the climate in the UK). And what Renault is doing now changing ECU for the start-stop problem and changing the climate compressor for the climate problem. But you really need to go to Renault service more than a few times to convince them that there is a problem with a/c and start-stop. All those problems seem to be a real deal-breaker for this sensible car which has a powerful engine, soft-touch materials, a reasonable boot capacity, and a good-looking exterior...

      Thanks for your comment! I checked the A/C after your comment and it appears to be working, but I'll keep an eye on it! My start-stop seems to be fine and I have experienced no issues so far.

    At last! This review explains the gear box perfectly. I returned mine to 2 different Renault garages to check it out and was assured it was perfectly 'normal', one even tried to convince me it was due to the engine stop/start system, I knew it wasn't . . I too have been caught out with the wheels spinning at roundabouts /junctions and manoeuvring out of tight spaces can be fun😱. It's a fab car but the gear box is the strangest I have ever come across.

      Glad someone feels the same way!! It's a bit odd but I've found it does get better over time. Thanks for watching.

    To stop the car locking when you don't want it to, just press the unlock on the key-fob then open and close a door. It's annoying when you have a bonnet open to top up the fluids and the alarm goes off. Assuming it works in a similar way to the Mk 4.

      What are your thoughts on the gearbox, does it really lurch forward at a junction or moving off ?

    • @davidsanderson2960
      @davidsanderson2960 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NS-pt9rr People say it can be a bit slow but if you put your foot down it really goes quickly from a stationary position. If you mean does it lurch forward when you take your foot off the break, then yeah but all automatic do that.

    I am struggling to adapt to this transmission as well. Especially when you try to go in the reverse direction on a hill even if the auto-hold function is on the car releasing itself down the hill slowly and not going in reverse. Then you think that you need to apply more pressure on the gas pedal than wow it accelerates crazily. It is very prone to parking crashes. Even if you press the gas pedal constantly and gently this might happen on hills when you try to go in the reverse direction.

    The display brightness is controlled by the external 'Lux' value. Your lights may also be on depending what value they were set at and your display should dim at night so as not to affect your night vision and stop you being blinded by a bright lit dashboard, especially in wet conditions.

    Hi Felix, thanks for the video. I have the same car (with slightly different optional add ons). I agree with your remarks and am somewhat happy that I am not the only one who has a weird experience when driving away from a parking space. Insult to injury - when I am finally moving, the car does not move to a higher gear but revs up to about 3000 rpm. This however happens only when I’m leaving a parking space. I suspect that the car enters a specific driving mode. Driving away slowly in other situations is not a problem. Other than that - very happy with the Clio.

      Thanks for your comment Alex, great to hear I'm not alone re: the gearbox. I do hope when the gearbox has some more miles on it things will get better. Thanks for watching!

    I have a 2016 Renault Megane with the same EDC gearbox, and can tell you that this geadbox behavior is unfortunately by design. It is mainly, from what I've been told, to protect te clutchpack (it is a double clutch gearbox). What happens is that when lifting the brake pedal, one of the clutches will partially engage so you move forward slowly. When that clutch then would engage fully immediately, it could cause damage to the clutches because of friction. This EDC is a "dry" dual clutch gearbox, meaning the clutches are not bathing in the gearbox oil. This clutch is therefore engaging slowly, and when it's fully engaged you will start driving faster.
    Also, I've found the maximum speed you will do is also depending on the front and rear parking sensors: when something is close, you have to give more then ~50% throttle to fully engage the clutch. This is to prevent accidental damage when pressing the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal. This feature is there for safety, and it is actually a quite clever system, but it might also make you feel less engaged at low speeds.

      Wow this is a great comment, thanks for the information! Super interesting, you mentionining the parking sensors influencing the gearbox makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

      I had 2019 Megane GT 1.6 205 EDC and it surely wasn't slow at shifting in sports mode. I would guess it's just the default driving mode that's shifting slow. I just got Clio 1.3 EDC on a lease for a year and can't say I really tested it properly but if you floor it it shifts pretty quickly. Also you could try manualy shifting with paddles and let it go to higher revs. You don't need to put in manual mode, just use paddles when needed. I also use them to brake with engine.

    • @10elwin10
      @10elwin10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@geronimoapache6457 the shifts are on it's own by no means slow when you're driving. Only when starting to drive away from standing still it sometimes feels a bit like the gearbox doesn't want to go, but I think the reason for that is what I wrote earlier. Nothing wrong with the gearbox per se, just the software that is a bit hesitant while driving away from standing still or at slow speeds :)

    Thanks for an interesting video.
    One question:
    Will the car not move at all unless you press the gas pedal? Most automatic cars, including Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) vehicles such as the Clio, will usually move at a very low speed when you release the brake pedal. It's similar to using clutch control in a manual car at very low speed.

    • @fgardner
      @fgardner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Anders, yes - the car will move slightly when you don't have the gas pedal pressed but it isn't as "strong" as other automatic cars I've driven. I hope the gearbox will improve as I do some more miles. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the upload! Are these paddle shifters? If so, perhaps the gearbox feels a bit better if you operate it by that way? What do you think? Thinking to buy the 2019 edc version :-)

    • @fgardner
      @fgardner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it has paddle shifters! I don't use them though, not sure it suits the character of the car. It's a good car!

    Hi Felix with my Renault Clio RS Line i notice the paddle shift mode which i do not use that much but when I do I would have liked a bigger what gear are you in as it is rather small and obscured a bit.
    I have also noticed in mine getting into reverse is sometimes in the wrong position and have to move the lever a wee bit otherwise i am very happy.

    • @fgardner
      @fgardner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for your comment! I'd say the gearbox hasn't changed much, it's still quite similar as when the car was new. I've got used to it but it's still quite weird! I will do a driving video soon and you can see for yourself.

  • @hamzabouchikhii
    @hamzabouchikhii 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wonderful car indeed in term of design and fabrication quality, and great video for sure :)
    However I have some concerns with the infotainment and electronics on board. I have heard many complaints about this point from the instrument panel turning on and off and settings reset everytime the car turns on.
    Speaking of which the battery seems to deplete quite easily causing unfortunate situation where the car won't start at all.
    So I just wanted to know if anyone have encountered such problems or if it seems to be commun. It's the only reason stoping me to purchase one so I'd like to have feedbacks about it :)
    Thank you in advance!
