Years ago, we had a cockatiel, we never had a clue, but we must have done something right , he was a beautiful specimen of a wise old soul , truly amazing, he would never come on us or allow us to touch him, but he loved to prine himself and he knew he was stunning and so wise. We never forced anything we just went with the way he was and respected his space, he was amazing.
Then we had Charlie , he was totally different , what , characters they both were , they had separate cages,
We ended up with racing pigeons , what a privilege,❤ those birds taught us so much ❤ birds really are so wise .

My cockatiel constantly bites. Not painful. More like a warning. But ive been working with him since I've had him with zero effect. I even let him bite me since it's not hurting but it never makes a difference. So frustrating

My bird loves being with me and shows he trusts me by preening ,sleeping around me ,but he won't let me scratch his head at all and we always spend quality time. Am I doing something wrong how do I fix this

You need at least two birds. You can never replace another bird just like a bird cannot replace human company for you.

My bird showers with me and it step up and down. He still bites me I think he's territorial. That's OK.

If you have a female IRN, it’s going to be hard.
One thing that worked for me was opening my mouth when they opened theirs.
This converted their bites to nibbles or just strong holds eventually. Eventually we became friends.
I am not vet/expert - just a previous pet owner of a wild caught IRN 😅.

@@Archimedes-v2o Nope. You are a human being, a different species. Even dogs that are the oldest pet humans have bred can't live well without going for walks and meeting other dogs. Imagine you'd never see any human being again? We're the most social species on this planet, you'd die of loneliness. So do birds.
