- Well this certainly is long overdue. Its getting harder and harder to hire trucks for a day or 2 and my work is wide open so it makes too much sense to not buy one. Now lets see if I can remember how to drive it!

30 years ago I was driving a International dump truck taking wood from one place to another after cutting it down . It was actually so much fun to drive.

That's a good solid looking truck with an engine and gearbox that should should last longer than most owners. It's funny seeing the bridge from that perspective, I've only ever crossed it in SUVs. First time I was there I talked to an old RCAF guy who was posted there in the 50s, before the bridge. He said he got a weekend pass and the outward ferry took so long to reach the mainland that he had to stay on and go back. In the end spent his whole weekend watching the ferry breaking ice.
Treat the frame of this new truck with (chain saw)bar oil/linseed mix before the first snow to keep it nice and protected.
airpod pros with noise cancelling very nice for driving. You can hear horns etc just not the wind and engine so much.
Thanks for the info you share in your videos. I started my own land clearing business last april and things are going pretty well but there's a lot to learn and every new contract is something new to learn and puzzle out and there's so many things I didn't know I didn't know if you get my meaning. Your experience and the path you took to get to where you are today is a lot of great information and food for thought for my business and how to go about things.

I actually just done my road test a few days ago in a 8 speed took me a few hours to learn the rhythm for down shifting. Keep at it for a few hours you’ll have it down in no time🤙🏻

Awesome purchase sterling makes a great truck in my opinion!!! I am partial to macks bit absolutely nothing wrong with a sterling !! I drove a couple with turned up cats and 8 speeds that absolutely FLEW loaded!!!! Another " ford " to the fleet good man

Thats a SLAMMER buddy.. keep the dirt off the underside and door jams, it holds water. As far as the AC. you have a leak.. Charge it and see how long it takes to stop working. If its really short, UGH then you have to find the leak and replace the line(s) if you are ok to keep recharging, then have at it. Next advice. Do you guys up there use a lot of salt in snow up there? Make sue to rinse it off. If you have a lot of salt i recommend getting a garden sprayer, then mix 1/2 diesel and 1/2 wd40 and spray it all underneath, under the doors. on the box and back. Also with the windows up spray a little on the Inside doors. ( best if you take off the inside door covers and give a little spray.) As far as the Eaton Fuller, Piece of cake.. if no load.. Use first or second to start. If you want to sound cool with no load. run the 3-4 gears fast using clutch.(meaning low to 3/4) Practice shifting around 800 rpms for upshifting with NO clutch and 1200 for downshifting. that truck may be different but you will learn and save you the clutch. That truck should serve you well!!! Good Luck!

This is a true gem, you got a well taken care of piece of equipment that will last you a long time...the new tires make it look even better..the new seat covers and cushion will make a huge difference...it'll be with it's weight... in getting the job done that much quicker...stay safe...I believe you have a nasty hurricane headed towards your area ..hope it misses you!! Ya low low with a load is a good start but I always found it difficult to shift into low from lo low, maybe the slow speed.

Sequential turbos, done right not like Ford /International with the 6.4, trying to do it on an platform that wasn't stout enough.

Looks good ! When my machine was down I ran a dump running around floating stuff and hauling product . I think every sterling dash is destroyed. Hated driving all these 8-9 speeds

I'd give my left nut to find a clean Sterling like that in BC. Good used dump trucks are hard to find. All Sterlings suffer from the dash breaking its the way it is with plastic. Freightliner carries some parts for Sterling. Getting parts for them can be tricky. Some guys don't like Sterlings myself I like them. Good visibility, turn on a dime. The air liner suspension that takes some getting used to. The Sterling I drove was on spring. The 4700 Western Star I also drove has airliner you had to use the diff lockers off road. The Sterling had a 15spd I used deep reduction all the time. The Kenworth T450 I'm driving now has an 8LL I use deep reduction all the time backing up loaded.
