I grew up in Oregon and made frequent trips to Astoria to visit my grandparents. The second I saw this trailer I recognized the town. Beautiful place, and the location where “Goonies” and “Kindergarten Cop” were filmed.
I live in Oregon! Astoria is such a unique city. That bridge is a feat of engineering. Seems like it goes on for ever. And where does it lead? Cape Disappointment! The Coastal Forests around Oregon are something else, too. So much moss and fog. You feel like you're in a dream.
Sometimes i wonder if i cut myself off because i am afraid of opening up or because I genuinely like solitude, but ive never felt a real yearning for the former so im sticking with the latter reason. I do resonate with this chharacter though, if people did get to know me i know theyd find me awkward and depressing like my previous friends. Not that im depressed, i just have very little materialistic motivation which makes me appear deadbeat, maybe i am.
I think many of us aren't wired to experience what most people consider "happiness". We meander and get lost inside ourselves only to find being alone with ourselves isn't as bad as it is sounds. It's just the way some of us are made. It's not right or wrong or good or bad. It's just the way it is.
You took the words right out of my mouth. If this film is as good as it looks and the trailer captured the tone correctly, I'm only ever gonna recommend these movies in tandem.
I reach out because I need human support, but then I sabotage it almost immediately out of self-doubt. I withdraw within, convinced my intrusions are embarrassing - to them and to me; and unwelcomed. What hurts the worst is when one assumes everyone is only nice because they have to be, and wouldn’t be under different circumstances. Yeah, that’s about it.
I'd see this. This kinda hits home b/c I've had a few people tell me I hide myself carefully. One elder in my new church said to me years ago, "we'd like to get to know you." I thought, how do YOU know that?" LOL
unrealistic and stupid movie. If a girl like that acts eccentric, distant or lonerish - believe you me they aren't as pretty as the star wars girl, because if they were, they'd already be taken. If they got a more unattractive girl to play the part , it might be halfway believable. Star wars gial dating a bald pudgy hispanic, even more unrealistic.
A few people (just like you) are too smart for the Simple Minds of most people that attend church. They're a lot of Simpletons that just want to be fed fantastical tales to entertain them and help them to think that they have great meaning in the world. And, they're simple-enough to trust in it and believe it.

It might restore my faith in Daisy. But I do feel bad that Astoria keeps having movie crews clutter the place up, and I do worry that glamorizing the Oregon coast is going to bring a bunch of outsiders that will make everything bad. Oregon's beauty is for Oregonians only. We are a jealous people.
@@pv3705 same title, i already watched the remake and while i did like it, the short felt more powerful with it's ending. But it was still a good movie and I think Ridley is a great actress with range, and she did a lot to make you feel for her character.
That bridge looks very, very familiar. Like I've driven across it and found that on the other side is a place I have no interest in being. A place where I felt trapped and all I wanted was to go back across the bridge to the place I belong. Astoria is the end of the world for all good people.
I think it did a good job at capturing depression, social isolation, and the mundanity of office life. I’m sure it’s not the type of film most of her fans would expect, but it shows her range.
From my read on the lyrics of the song playing in the background of this trailer it seems like it’s about a woman contemplating suicide. Brilliant trailer. I’m looking forward to this one. Sibylle Baier- remember the day For anyone curious.
Call me silly, but of all the places in the US, most of Oregon seems like one of the least depressing places to live. The nature's fantastic. (Bear in mind, I say this all as a European.) Either way, good luck to the film. :-)
i think the big franchise SW stole Daisy's opportunity to showcase her real talents. just a few seconds and you can tell her mastery of her expression, i want to see this. i am pretty sure she is a great actress. i honestly she stars in movies like this.
You know, I think I will watch this, not just because it looks like it might be good, but also because Daisy Ridley seems nice and I'd like to see what she's like in something where she can actually apply her acting skills, unlike the Star Wars sequels, which felt like everyone was just performing multiplayer emotes.
sometimes i think of dying, but have no real motivation to end it. not sad enough to be diagnosed with depression, not suicidal enough to get help for it

Out of all the beaches in Oregon, which one do you recommend the most?
And home of the Crab Festival
Garibaldi or Rockaway

So glad daisy is getting back out there!! This looks fantastic.
truth. i felt proud of her watching this trailer, in the same way a father feels proud of his daughter watching her excel at something.
Did anyone else look up the title without adding TRAILER and get a concerned message from TH-cam that says, "You're not alone!" Ha ha.
I tried it just to see and yes, a message does come up 😅
“Do you wish you could unknow me?” Hit hard
Yes this is a new classic
I can't wait to have a double feature with this and "I'm Thinking of Ending Things."
Did a double take, thought I was going crazy lol
😂

Why not finish it up with Sophie's Choice?
ITOET was really, really good. you owe this double feature to yourself.
Song: Sibylle Baier - Remember The Day
I was wondering…Thank you!
I like that the male interest isn’t like a Chris Pine or Hemsworth-type. It’s more relatable.
FINALLY! Ive been waiting for Daisy Ridley to book an artsy gig like this that lets her actually show how good she is at acting
exactly! She is so worth it. Doesn`t have to stick to the usual once a Skywalker always a Skywalker scheme.

It was very well done. It felt like real life. I kept waiting for the movie to start. Then it was over.
You should be a reviewer, for real
This line alone made me want to see this project
The guy who plays the love interest of Daisy Ridley is known as El Sebita in Uruguay. He is a TREMENDOUS actor.
Thats Dave Merheje
@@yasso2031 yes. El Sebita.
why?
Yeah I was wondering why they got some random looking man. Seems like a weird pairing honestly
Why they casted a bald guy for the role is what I want to know 😂😂
I love this movie. Daisy Ridley is fantastic in it.

Is that Sybille Baier singing? (She did a song called Tonight which is one of my faves)
Sure is!
Sybille Baier comes to my mind too.
Yes! I gasped when she started singing haha. I think it's a song called Remember the Day

Oh God, I love the original short movie. That one stayed in my mind for weeks.

The Omeleto short film this seems to be based on is quite good.
I saw that recommended also and was wondering if it was related.
so that’s why this feels familar.. watched the short film years ago and loved it

Sometimes for you. Always for the rest of us.
We do die, so it's a valid thing to think about. Kind of pointless to waste too much time on it.
The short film this is based off is also fantastic, and I like Daisy Ridley for this role, she really reminds me of the original actress in the short
What's the name of the short film?

*this hit me. Personally. 😱😵💫*
glad they are remaking that amazing short
yesss i loved the short so much
The Omeletto short got a Star Wars upgrade
I remember the short. Great to see the feature.
I think about it all the time
Wow, Dave Merheje doing big things, being in a movie with Daisy Ridley! Reps up from Windsor man congratulations.

Another Daisy Ridley masterclass in acting 🙌🏻
Interesting, I'm hoping this can be a start of something more than Star Wars. She deserves better.

i feel like if they'd used this aesthetic and tone to film Eileen then we could have one really good movie instead of two sort of middling ones.
thats a great point

Happy to see Daisy Ridley existing outside of Disney.

Anyone know what song this is?
The singer is Sybille Baier, the song i'm not sure.

It took me a bit of time to realize that's Dave Merheje, the comedian. Good to see him.

Daisy Ridley's voice sounds entirely different with an American accent. Like even has a different tone. Sounds higher pitched too.
