Dalí and the 21st century: The secret of his enduring appeal
Join us on TH-cam as Professor Jean-Pierre Isbouts, coauthor of the book “The Dalí Legacy” (Apollo Publishers/March 23, 2021) discusses the ways in which Dalí’s art continues to hold the world in thrall.
In this lecture, Dr. Isbouts will relate Dalí’s activity to the turbulent events of the mid-20th century, including the rise of Surrealism, the Spanish Civil War, the Atomic Age and Postmodern art. He’ll make a compelling case that the artist’s often fraught relationships and faithful adherence to Old Master realism explain why his art still manages to provoke, perplex, and entertain to this day. At the close of the event, coauthor Dr. Christopher Heath Brown, will join Dr. Isbouts for a conversation about collecting Dalí prints and graphics. The event will be illustrated with visuals from the book.
