Hurricane Beryl set to Devastate the Caribbean

- Hurricane Beryl continues to overperform and is likely to pulverise the Windward Islands tonight and early tomorrow morning, with a Category 4 landfall on the forecast. Beryl became a major hurricane this morning, and reconnaissance planes are continuing to investigate the storm, which is still rapidly intensifying.
Hurricane Warnings are in effect for Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, St Lucia, and Tobago. Winds of up to 140 miles per hour (225kph) are expected on the islands, with a significant storm surge and rainfall of up to 6 inches.
Beryl is expected to remain strong as it enters the Caribbean Sea, and only gradually weaken as it reaches Jamaica and eventually moves on to the Yucatan Peninsula. It is expected to retain hurricane status for the whole period.
Elsewhere, an area of interest behind Beryl is also expected to form, and could itself become a hurricane as it follows a very similar path later in the week. A third area of interest is located in the Bay of Campeche, and has a small window of formation before it moves inland over Veracruz.
In the Eastern Pacific, chances of formation are also increasing, with a tropical storm possible later in the week off the coast of Mexico.

reminds me of Lee from last year, when it explosively intensified from a Tropical Storm to a Category 5
@@DAJTheTH-camr_2007 Didn't Lee turn into a Cat. 5 in a day. That was insane, and I saw a video from the weather channel talking about how hurricanes have been rapidly intensifying. And the theory is becoming a reality. Very quickly too.

Trinidad won't be in the center of storm but probably would still face the storm
Atp, just expect weather devolving into winds of around tropical storm force or less with gusts occasionally dancing around or below hurricane force(if the storm wobbles more south), you aren't in the main path of the hurricane force winds. Don't expect too much, as T&T will be in the weakest quadrant of the storm. The rain isn't anything to scoff at, though. Flooding is still to be expected...

It has a slight chance of becoming a category 5 and it could be the 2nd category 5 in july since hurricane emily (2004) so it could intensify a bit more

Hurricanes and typhoons are different names for the same type of tropical storm. Typhoon in the pacific, hurricane in the Atlantic. Correct me if I’m wrong. Or maybe it’s to do with the hemispheres.

Yes, remember Dorian, it swept through the Bahamas. And many people living on the islands might not have safe places to go during this storm. Or even strong high raised homes.
