There is growth yes, but is the growth relevant if we have like 15% inflation

As a Surinamese 🇸🇷 I'm closely watching how our neighbor Guyana is rising with its fastest-growing economy in 2024 due to oil. Meanwhile, our prices in the supermarket are increasing day by day. It's great that Guyana has such enormous oil reserves they can tap into to grow their economy. It makes it far less likely that they would look to timber as a revenue source, thus preserving the forests and their ecosystems. This is so cool, because the more oil based fuels are used, the more carbon get added to the atmosphere. Plants need carbon like animals and humans need oxygen go survive. The more carbon in the atmosphere, the heslthier the earths vegetation becomes. This in return adds more oxygen to the atmosphere through photosynthesis. It's a win, win, win, situation.
That is not how it works. The more oil burned, the worst it is for the planet because that carbon that you mentioned is EXCESS, its not natural and the plants can’t keep up with the rate of burning fossil fuels (oil in this case) and carbon traps heat making the planet rapidly hotter (climate change). The only difference with Guyana is that its forest preservation makes for a strong carbon sink therefore as a country, they can drill all their oil reserves while still being a net 0 country because said forest preservation. It doesn’t help the world in terms of climate change sure, but Guyana has every right to use their natural resources like every other developed nation has. It’s up to other countries to follow in Guyana’s footsteps preserve their forest and mitigate the damage that they’re doing such as the United States and the UK.
You’re absolutely right people have been so brainwashed into the CO2 being bad, which there is actually very little in the atmosphere and believing it causes global warming which is BS.
