I have been a Glock Guy all my shooting life but Now, at 78 years old, I have switched to a P17 for my EDC Gun! I can shoot this gun better than any gun I have ever used and I am very Confident with the 22LR Round for my self defense needs! As we get older, some of us need to make adjustments and I have done so with confidence! I am very happy to see that you have included the P17 as a good carry gun! I purchased one over a year ago and I was so impressed with it, so I purchased a second one four months later! I have shot thousands of rounds through these guns without any malfunctions and I do recommend this handgun for self defense!

I'm a 73 year old retiree with numerous health issues and I cannot handle the recoil from a 9 mm or larger. No 12 ga. shotgun either. Ammo for a .22 can cost between $.05 and $0.10 where ammo for a 9mm. can cost up to a dollar a round. I just bought a .380 for $232.99 and ammo was $.24. I don't really want to kill anybody, I just don't want them to kill me.

Nice video, but I can't believe your #1 is an 8 shot revolver while you completely ignored the TX 22. Twice the capacity, better accuracy and quicker reloads if needed. Major oversight as far as I'm concerned.

a .22 LR bullet is capable of inflicting very serious injuries (e.g. the four people wounded during the Reagan assassination attempt) or death e.g. the Kauhajoki school shooting (11 killed and 1 wounded), the Jokela school shooting (8 killed and 1 wounded), or the 1979 Cleveland Elementary School shooting (2 killed and 8 wounded) as well as the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy. Numerous other shooting incidents have demonstrated that .22 LR bullets can easily kill or seriously injure humans

I have the Ruger SR 22. Fantastic semi auto pistol. Fit and feel are perfect for bigger hands like myself. Very accurate out of the box, 10 round mags and just a blast to shoot. Two different interchangeable grips so people with smaller hands can be comfortable shooting this fine piece of American craftsmanship. Well balanced and not over priced. IMO, best semi auto .22 out there.

I own two Kel-Tec P-17's. I frequently go to an indoor range. The one I carry. I have fired about 1500 rounds through it. At ten yards, groups are about 2"-3". Its low weight. Large capacity magazine. Very accurate and reliable. Make it a carry weapon you can trust. Some people say 22LR has no stopping power. Some say its not the size of the hole. But how many. I trust my P-17's will get the job done.

I’ve never shot a gun that didn’t have ‘some’ recoil. The TX22 is minimal and certainly quite manageable.
I’ve owned and carried numerous pistols as my EDC. For many many years my Glock 23 has been my primary EDC. Now at 67 I recently purchased a TX22 Competition as just a fun and less expensive training gun. To my utter amazement I fell in love during my first range outing. My FIRST 5 shot group was less than 3” and my re-acquisition was almost immediate.
I’m seriously considering it as my new EDC pending finding the best tactical cartridge.

I have that taurus revolver and it's super accurate. There's enough "heft" to it that it feels good in the hand and the barrel comes down on target for follow up shots. It's built well and it always the favorite out of whatever guns we take to the range...my friends always want to shoot it. Plus, 9 rounds of 22wmr is nothing to laugh at. It's a legit self defense gun!

Hmmmm? You left out the Taurus TX-22, and the Ruger SR22. My wife has limited hand strength due to cancer treatment and arthritis. She can still comfortably shoot a .22, so I've fixed her up with 2 choices.....the M&P 22 and the SR22. She chooses the Ruger for it's comfortable size (the M&P is the full size version) and easy concealment. With a Vridiun laser, she's good to go in an emergency. I've fed everything thru it for ammo and not one misfire or stovepipe yet (about 500 rds) Very surprised you left this jewel out of your line-up.

I own the TX22 & P17, best consumer 22lr semi autos I've shot. I agree, the 22lr revolver would be the best for SD reliability. For plinking, tiny groups, & least ammo expense, the 22 lr is great. I choose centerfire for reliably & stopping power.38, 45, 410 wheel guns, 9mm & 45 will always be my choice for SD. I've never had a factory round primer fail & cycling failures are few and far between in centerfire ammo. Can't say that about our beloved 22's🤷🏼

I’m also curious why the Taurus TX22 was not included on the list. From what I’ve seen, they tend to work from the get-go. I’ve been teaching concealed license classes for the past several months and the TX22 are just accurate and reliable. I’ve seen people show up with SR22s, but these guns seem to exhibit occasional cycling problems or ammo sensitivity. Some of it attributed to new shooters having some sense to buy an easy to shoot pistol but failing to read the manual, clean and lube before shooting, and buying decent ammo. The LCP II is interesting but I’ve seen none being used for concealed carry training thus far. The Walter P22 should have made the list as well as the Charter Arms Pathfinder, which is an 8-shot revolver and cheaper than the Taurus or S&W. I will complement the video on its recommendation to keep 22 revolvers clean.

If you shoot the perp in the eye, game over for them. You don't need ear plugs with a 22.

I had a S&W 622 with the 6" barrel, adjustable sights and it was my greatest mistake of trading it .

I still have my 622. Very light and accurate but the rear sight has had problem perhaps bc it’s on the slide. It was my first auto when I bought it back when I was 18.

You state the Glock 44 is the first gun on the list that does not have a magnum option. I can't find any of the semi auto's on your list that will shoot magnums, all are .22LR's

I heard the revolver has a heavy double action spring which strikes the rim harder than a semi auto increasing the reliability eof a .22 revolver

  • @jtmcculloch
    @jtmcculloch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

i think the idea that 22LR is unreliable comes from 22LR leaves unburned residue in the chamber he problem is that if it is not cleaned and lubbed it can gum up effecting reliability.
I have fired many thousands of rounds with only a few misfires and that was on cheap ammo - i have never had a misfire with CCi ammo

Yes a Battleship 16in cannon will get the job done surely and the Pygmy poison dart will take time and allow the victim to retaliate a bit. Getting hit by a 40grain bullet is still a message that your world outlook has changed unless the attacker is kick juiced by PCP or coke.

While different than the p17 my cp33 is far and away my most unreliable gun, so I would have a hard time trusting a P17, and really if for self defense an oft overlooked issue is very close quarter self defense, with a auto, if you have to jam the pistol into say someones mid section, the slide could move and disengage firing pin, a revolver, not so

I agree with another comment here evey time I see a best of any gun they always have pistols that have been seen as being the best or one of the best I watched a multitude of videos on the glock 22lr pistol and even glock lovers admitted the gun was a surprising piece of shit the gun was expensive because of its name only two me these comparison videos are sponsored by the companies that make the gun I would tell anyone watch videos of pistols your interested in that the person doing the tests are not affiliated with any of the companies that are being tested a regular person is not going to feel as though he has to give the gun a good review as far as a 22lr for a carry whepon it's better than a stick but I would much prefer a 9mm or higher they make very decent polymer pistols with 15 round capacity that are not micros but actually aren't that much larger you will find you have a much better grip the sights will be better and easier to see and real compact 9mm that I have tried have a very heavy kick with makes it uncomfortable to fire multiple times people with medium to large size hands will find that getting multiple shots on target under a stressful situation even the best at the range are not going to be relaxed in a situation where a person is firing back if you don't believe me with is understandable listen to the people on u tube that are highly regarded in the world of defensive carry
