    I hope you don't mind receiving gratitude for a video that's over a year old. This was incredibly helpful. I'm dialed in, so to speak, and ready to shoot with my F100. Thank you!

    Hello,
    I just found your channel and within days of purchasing an F100 in excellent condition. I bought the camera to replace one I had for years that became inoperable and I'd misplaced the manual for it. Your video on Custom settings was helpful for me as I set up the camera according to my shooting preferences. This was very helpful, informative and well done and you now have another subscriber.

    Thank you, great explanation and camera. I was wondering if you can disable the automatic roll back of film if the back of the camera is opened. (Mid roll) I ask this as I like to let light leak and on previous Nikon camera's I have owned, they have allowed me to do so with out recalling the film.

    • @DavidHancock

    • @DavidHancock
      @DavidHancock  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm curious what you'd use it for. It did occur to me that it could be used to show processes for things like advancing a camera's frame or how a part of an object moves while the rest is stationary, but I can't figure out another use. What were you thinking of to use it for?

      Thank you! You can't enable every setting at once because some conflict (for instance, you can't both rewind film to leave a leader and not leave a leader.) Thanks for this...question, in Custom Function 21- AEL/AFL Button: what do you mean by Toggle in position 3?

    • @DavidHancock
      @DavidHancock  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you and toggle basically means it works like a light switch. With a press button, you have to hold it down to work, like a blender. But by toggle it works like a light switch, which means press it once to turn on and a second time to turn off.

      Yes, but it won't be immediately. I have an F5 (it's not behaving reliably so I need to see if it has an issue or not, and I haven't pinned down the trouble source yet.) The F5 is high on the to-make list. Like at the top.

  • @eustacequinlank7418
    @eustacequinlank7418 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you very much. I was just wondering about setting 14, I see a use for it, but the condition is that the first exposure reasonably freezes the subject then the following exposures are longer. So something like 125th/60/30 while maintaining aperture settings through manual etc - Essentially a 'shutter bracket' on the same frame but with continuous shooting?
    What I'm wondering though, is with continuous mode on, does the multiple exposure setting on the left ISO dial become irrelevant (somewhat) then?
    Sorry, quick version I think, when using 14 - 1 (with continuous) = multiple exposures occur on a single frame until the shutter button is released and the film moves onto the next frame when depressed again?
    edit: apologies, I have access to the manual, but, as you know, it can be hard to break down as what you want to know can jump from page to page and where camera prioriy settings might clash or something. I'll figure it out!

    • @DavidHancock
      @DavidHancock  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Let me see if I can clarify.
      1- CF 14 is multiple exposures. So that's for use when taking multiple exposures on the same frame. With that if you have the ME function set to 2 or 9 shots, CF 14 controls how the shutter works. So with setting 1 you would need to push the shutter once for each exposure -- twice for two shots, nine times for nine shots. With 2, you can hold the shutter down and the camera will the the allotted number of multiple exposure frames.
      2- No. The ISO dial is always vital to enabling proper exposure.
      Let me know if that clarifies or not.

    Hi David! I'm looking to buy another camera to my collection. I have pantax mx, Zeiss Ikon 520, Flexaret 4. I am struggiling to choose between: Nikon F3, Fuji GSW690 II or fuji GA645w. Any suggestions?

    • @DavidHancock
      @DavidHancock  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Those are three very different cameras with very different uses. I would look at what you don't have and start there. The 690 will give you huge negatives that are almost large-format quality. The 645 would probably be easier to carry, though the 690 is pretty small. The F3 is a great cameras but won't truly give you anything you don't have now, except an excuse to buy lenses for a different system. Ultimately it's your decision what your needs are, but look at what each camera offers that you currently lack and go from there.

    • @MprivetM
      @MprivetM 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DavidHancock I know, the format's are all over the place :) I think I'm slightly intimidated by the 6x9 format of Fuji 690. And it's size. It's still small in comparison to Zenza Bronica S2 (hasselbads cheap substitute, maybe I will go for it as well). I know 690 is the best choice, yet somehow I gravitate towards the F3. Maybe it's the option to shoot waist level. Thanks for your opinion!

    CSM#19 is for this situation: You know your zoom lens is not sharp being wide open, so you would close down the aperture, say, by 1 stop to gain some sharpness. Then, as you zoom in or out, your aperture will always stay away from being wide-open and give you good sharpness.

    I'm annoyed there is no setting for NOT rewinding the film completely into the canister, but leaving a little strip out. There is such a setting on my F5, but I actually prefer using the F100 for a number of reasons (like better usability with fully manual lenses, where I get an error on the F5).

    • @DavidHancock
      @DavidHancock  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That seems like it should have been an included feature. I'm not sure why it would be left out since it's only a function of software and shouldn't have cost anything to include.
