@@drinkingpoolwater Your coach literally walks up to you and is like "You're about to get replaced" and is not saying that to the Wally Pipp of the Patriots he's saying it to the Lou Gehrig of the Patriots - it was such a false equivalency it could only be taken as intentionally insulting. Comparing one of the best known names in the WR class to a person whose name nobody ever heard of was wrong right off the cuff. It would be like telling Tom he was Wally Pipp after he had a bad or low effort game when the whole world already knows Tom Brady. The story wouldn't even work with Wes and Jules after Jules replaced him. It would start like "You ever heard of Wes Welker" and instead of "No" the answer is "Obviously - he's one of the best receivers in the game" the point of the story kinda falls apart. Wes' ego got in the way of his production but his name will never be forgotten unlike Wally Pipp - if anything, the popularity of Wes Welker likely led to a ton of Googles of Wally Pipp so Wes' name was already big enough to drive traffic to other names.

Welker, You're Out! Edelman, You're In! some cold stuff right there, imagine had him moss and welker all played together as receivers, might have been the dream team!

Welker had one of the biggest drops in SB history and Edelman had one of the biggest catches. Guess it worked out for Jules haha

Wally Pipp was the starting first baseman for the Yankees. Story goes that one game he has a headache or something and takes himself out of the lineup. Next man up was Lou Gehrig. Gehrig went on to play in 2,130 straight games. For about 15 straight years if you went to a Yankee game you were guaranteed to see Lou Gehrig starting at first base. That’s why they called him the Iron Horse. He wouldn’t take himself out of the Yankee lineup until he was suffering from the effects of the disease that would later be named after him: ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Welker has the reg season #s , Playing opposite randy moss doesn't hurt , but welker couldn't carry Edelman helmet in the playoffs.

Loved Welker, but Edelman became an upgrade. More elusive, better acceleration, slightly faster, deeper route tree, and utterly fearless over the middle. There was no one better on third and long. People make a big fuss over the regular season numbers (forgetting Edelman didn't start full time at WR the first few seasons since he was busy returning punts and kicks and playing occasional DB), but he's just behind Jerry Rice in playoff receiving stats. An utterly complete football player--he really should be a Hall of Famer; you can't tell the story of 2010-2020 in the NFL without him.

Wasn't an easy catch at all it was overthrown even Brady admitted that during the game and years later clearly you're just repeating phrases and have never seen the play

@XXIIIARESXXIII49 - yes I have seen the play and I am certain that I have rooted for the Pats longer than you have. You obviously did not see the play or your memory is failing you. The ball wasn’t high. It was thrown behind Welker, but he had both hands on it and as a pro he should have made the catch. It’s called making a play for your team.

Good move to Pats for selecting Incred-le man. Awesome athlete, I wonder if all players received the same attitude as Jules got or not. The Patriots would be minus 3 Superbowl championships without Jules- The fact they (coaches) even considered cutting him. Shows how sad they are
