Here’s my big question, does the multiple timelines twist mean that the live action movies/tv shows are also canon? And why stop there. Every ladder ending can be canon to a different timeline. The Passing or failing the QTE’s in MKX’s campaign can be different timelines. I’m even going to take it a step further and say every individual match we play with friends is canon as well as competitive and casual matches/tournament online or offline is cannon.

@Dakingalbert2 Yeah! And now he's glown up as both Fire God and Titan (who's also Keeper of Time) in new MK1 timeline, although his godliness made him rarely use his iconic bicycle kicks tho-
@@Handsome_Black He`s referring that before the reboot, that when Noob Saibot was introduced in MK2 until MK: Deception fans believed he was just a fallen warrior who was resurrected and not actually Bi Han.

The Mortal Kombat series has created an awesome and really entertaining story line. I hope they will give us more creativity in the future and more spin-offs like Shaolin Monks. MK inspired other fighting series to spread their stories. I hope Killer Instinct, SoulCalibur and Virtua Fighter will come back with true story modes. They have potentials
Here's a shocking twist How worthless the revenants became That Sindel massacre is even more bad taste now when you realize how utterly useless everyone became as undead servants
I feel like some of these "plot twists" weren't really surprising. You could easily see them coming. I mean, who really thought Shang Tsung wasn't going to betray them?
Exactly what I was talking about too. Shang, and Sindel shouldn't have been 'shocking'. Shang is a snake, and we all already know about Sindel's story change.
I hope she return and also the Kung Lao who Liu Kang meet isn't the Kung Lao whe know he is the great Kung Lao who is Kung Lao's ancestor so that means that Liu Kang probably want to rebuild the original Timeline(MK1,2 and 3)
One thing that shocked me about Aftermath's was the end particularly before the final fight, and hopefully final death of Shang Tsung when Fire God Liu Kang revealed he knew that Shang Tsung was going to backstab them the whole time, and was not a step to two steps behind Shang Tsung, but was instead 2 to 4 steps ahead of Shang Tsung the entire time.
The most shocking twists, in MY opinion, would have to be the death of Scorpion in MK11 (Bless his soul😭) & the death of MY favourite female character... Mileena
But not in a good way. NRS never should’ve touched her lore and backstory to make her clichéd gold digging monster. Just because she looks gothic doesn’t mean she’s “evil”, the reason why her appearance is gothic is because she was raised from the dead. But no, NRS were too busy judging a book by it’s cover.
Sindel’s betrayal is non-sensical. In the original timeline, she was a heroine, a beloved queen that cared for her kingdom and her daughter. This twist just retcons everything I knew about the character! It’s like Scorpion’s family were murdered killed by Quan Chi, but at Subzero’s service!
"Timelines...PLURAL?" is my very favorite of Mortal Kombat twists. Thanks to that twist, the possibilities are endless. Although, Evil Sindel is my very LEAST favorite.
John Carrera I like the new ones. If it weren’t for the current MK games, I wouldn’t enjoy characters like Johnny Cage, Fujin, etc. Also, I take MK story modes over live action adaptations.
@@BlazerK1914 I mean johnny Cage and Fujin were cool😎. But there are retcons, wasted potential, rushed scenes, and the ending was the worst part. Although the action in after math was absolutely amazing. And Cary Tagawa as shang tsung was incredible.
When I was shoving quarters in the machine to play Mk I and II as young kid never would have ever thought it would evolve to this epic story we all love.
I'm not sure what's more horrible; the fact that it blatantly kontradicts the events in the previous games and in Sindel's Arcade endings (especially her ending in Armageddon, where she revives the husband she murdered, or Ermac's ending in Mortal Kombat (2011), where Sindel also reunites with her husband), or the fact that it reveals that we've spent almost 25 years admiring a kharacter that murdered her husband and betrayed her people.
Bro, ill disagree with u, its different this time. Before Sindel was very much a victim of circumstances, a puppet controlled by Shao kahn, Shang Tsung or Quan Chi. Now I see her as the protagonist, self-conscious, with an active, conscious and decisive role. Edenia was not simply destroyed by a dictator, it was corrupted inside, with Sindel as the protagonist of this decay and as powerful and decisive as Shao Kahn.
Sonya’s death hit me pretty hard. I was not expecting such a twist and at the beginning of story mode. And of course, this reminded me of losing my own mother 2 years prior and just seeing that moment between Sonya and Cassie, then between Johnny and Cassie and that brought me to tears
To quote Honest Trailers on The Mandarin in Iron Man 3: "This isn't just ignoring the comics, this is dropping their pants and wiping their butt with them!".
My no.1 is Deadly Alliance: Death of Liu Kang. Also what about Quan Chi's Death in MKX? By killing Quan Chi, the revenants can never be restored... Scorpion chooses his own vengeance, over saving earth realm's former warriors. This is later fixed by timelines though.
I disagree with number 2, probably everyone who played the previous games was expecting Shang Tsung`s betrayal. Liu Kang`s death in Deadly Aliance was more unexpected
The greatest plot twists are always the creative differences between 2 people... John Tobias & Ed Boon. How many souls need to wreak havoc on a cool idea?
Deception was my absolute favorite as a kid and the plot twist at the end shocked me to no end. I remember being a little kid and being as shocked as the plot twist in Star Wars KOTOR both of which will remain as some of my favorite gaming moments from childhood
Twists that should have made the list: 1) Scorpion was right about his family's death. Mortal Kombat X. It had been long established and said that While the original Sub Zero killed Scorpion, the Lin Kuei did not slaughter his family, with several of Scorpion's endings even saying that it was Quan Chi that did it. But in Mortal Kombat X, Sub Zero contacted Scorpion when he discovered, by accessing Sektor's memories after defeating him, that yes, the Lin Kuei DID slaughter every man, woman, and child that was part of the Shin Ryu. This realization and confession ended the most famous rivalry between these two ninjas and formed the foundation of a lasting peace between the two reformed clans - for all the good it did now that the timeline's starting over. 2) Cyrax did not willingly become a cyborg. Mortal Kombat, the reboot. It had been speculated, as far back as Mortal Kombat 3, that the reason Smoke, and later Sub Zero, managed to keep their souls while becoming cyborgs was because they did not undergo the process willingly. Something about that resistance preserved part of them. But ... We learned that Cyrax was opposed to the Cyber Initiative and was trying to dissuade the Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei from it, going so far as to leave the ninja clan. Which means that whatever it was that preserved the souls of Smoke and Sub Zero, it wasn't being unwilling patients. 3) Shang Tsung's inevitable but unexpected betrayal ... was part of the plan. Mortal Kombat 11 Aftermath. His betrayal of the heroes was not unexpected. And while his turning on Sindel and Shao Kahn was surprising, it made sense; he was gaining power, and did not need to be subservient to them any longer. Even Liu Kang getting involved later was foreseeable. The surprise was that this was all part of the plan - Liu Kang's plan. Liu looked into the hourglass, then spoke to Fujin, even saying that the plan was a big gamble (and don't tell Nightwolf!). He later explained that not only was the sorcerer's betrayal going to happen, but that it HAD TO HAPPEN for Kronika to be defeated and the crown preserved. All of a sudden, Fujin's just handing the crown to the disguised Shang Tsung is no longer an act of foolishly trusting someone who looks like Raiden but doesn't act like him; now, it's (mildly less) foolishly trusting that Liu Kang knew what he was doing.
As a Sindel fan since her debut in mortal kombat 3, that aftermath storymode hit me like a bomb. I love the fact that she has so much importance in this story, and also love her gameplay, her looks and voice acting (Mara Junot). But the retcon came out of nowhere and for someone who waited for so long to see her reunited with Kitana again, it kind of makes me feel empty, it's like you've been promised something and after waiting for so many years, you see in the end that it was all a lie. With that beeing said mk9's Sindel massacre was badass in my opinion!
It was the last thing I expected. Say what you want about most of the Mortal Kombat (2011) kast getting killed off anti-climatically, at least they were on-screen. Plus, Sonya, Johnny Cage, Cassie Cage, and Kitana were all captured alive, and Liu Kang (assuming he didn't pass away from his injuries) likely did as well, so I expected Kotal to be captured as well.
Some of these aren't really plot twists but more like just surprising deaths. Also I honestly expected the reveal that Quan Chi killed Scorpion's clan to be #1.
#10 - Shocking? Heck yes. Does it make a lick of sense? Heck no! #9 - I am totally for an MK game focusing on GKL. 8# - Can we change Onaga’s title from “Dragon King” to “Ultimate Troll”? #7 - Probably one of the saddest Mk moments period. #6 - A plot twist in “Aftermath” that actually works. #5 - And a million Twitter fans lost their crap over it. #4 - Can’t say much here other than I agree. #3 - Also known as, “All my favorite fighters are dead!” #2 - Should have never trusted that snake, it whatever. But it was worth it to see him sucking out Shao Kahn and Evil Sindel’s soul. (Also, why is it that most of these moments come from “Aftermath”?) #1 - Yes. All of this.
I would love to see a remake of the original Mortal Kombat, add some lore, and origins (something that is not messy), or whatnot before they add more elder gods to the roster for future releases.
Honestly, the one about Liu Kang planning to bork the timeline in the right way should've been #1. I mean, he knows how things are gonna go from when he comes into play and presumably the OG-Timeline, and he probably viewed a replay of everything prior to it so he knows what needs fixing, so the sheer fact that everything that went wrong's gonna go right should've been #1
Honestly I thought Fire God Liu Kang letting Shang Tsun win up until fighting him was a much more shocking twist than Shang Tsun betraying Shao Khan... like.... its Shsng Tsun. What did you expect Shao Khan? But Liu Kang letting Shang Tsun kill all his friends only to take him out after his moment of triumph was DEFINITELY unexpected
Sindel's betrayal isn't shocking in the sense that she did it. It's shocking in that the writers thought they could pull this retcon out of their ass, all because they just thought that she looked evil, and expect it all to make sense when in fact it doesn't make a lick of sense in both the original timeline and this new timeline.
GOD THANK YOU! I'm waiting for it to revealed that THIS Sindel was an actual successful clone by Shang Tsung. When the real Sindel was killed by Quan Chi, in order to put the clone into the storyline, the clone was the one REALLY "resurrected". The reason THIS Sindel isn't bewitched is because she was MADE to be this way. It's all she knows but she doesn't KNOW she's a clone. Sounds far out, but plausible and makes about as much sense as her retcon.
@@LilBob3963 Agreed 100%. I don't care how they do it, but they should fix it in the next game and they could solve it in a variety of ways. Your suggestion of a clone would be one, another is that Kronika messed with her life in this timeline, and another could be something to do with the banshee corrupting her. Whatever the reason is, I would take it.
I thought that at first, too. But then it occurred to be - Shao Kahn was not the least bit surprised when he saw Sindel save him. Plus, for all his faults, he did truly love her (as established in Mortal Kombat 3 intro screen).
Are you sure, @@richardferguson9663? Because if what you're saying is true and he "truly" loved her, then Shao Kahn would've been calling his wife by her name, Sindel, and NOT "Wife"--which he does throughout the entire Aftermath expansion. (And I'm SERIOUS, Shao Kahn never calls Sindel by her name in Aftermath...NOT ONCE...just "Wife".) Plus, after MK3, Sindel broke free of her mind control, betrayed Shao Kahn, rejoined her daughter and the Earthrealmers, and began to fight with the forces of good.
If his Juchin Takeda Takahashi does come out as a dlc character for MK11, I wonder like him to take revenge on D’Vorah for killing Grandmaster Hasashi.
Anybody who knows Sindel's character could see #10 coming from a mile away, as for me, the biggest shock was that for MK 11 - Aftermath, the got Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa to reprise his role as Shang Tsune. "Your soul is mine!" That still gives me chills.
The fact that "he must win" didn't refer to Liu Kang should have been obvious given that Liu DID win in the original timeline, and the whole point is that Raiden was trying to change something. New timeline Raiden couldn't know that because for all he knew the message came from a future where Liu lost and that's what went wrong, but for the player, it should have been obvious that Liu winning would just be repeating the same failed cycle of events. That being said, "he must win" was a stupidly ambiguous message. How about, "Khan must win"?

The biggest twist in Mortal Kombat is Kung Lao's neck
damn
Holy shit
I really like ur MK11 vids keep them going xd
As a Sindel fan since her debut in mortal kombat 3, that aftermath storymode hit me like a bomb. I love the fact that she has so much importance in this story, and also love her gameplay, her looks and voice acting (Mara Junot). But the retcon came out of nowhere and for someone who waited for so long to see her reunited with Kitana again, it kind of makes me feel empty, it's like you've been promised something and after waiting for so many years, you see in the end that it was all a lie. With that beeing said mk9's Sindel massacre was badass in my opinion!
How is kotal losing his head not on here? Who was expecting that?
I was. I hated Kotal. I was hoping he got killed
I thought Liu Kangs death would be number one... Wow.
Mortal Kombat - come for the gore, stay for the lore
I hope Cassie Cage, Jacqui Briggs, Takeda Takahashi, Grandmaster Hasashi, and Others exist in Liu Kang’s timeline.
I'm pretty sure the only one to not exist in Liu Kangs timeline is Shang Tsung
@@fangsabre There will always be a Shang Tsung in every timeline, including MK vs DC Universe.
they probably would, but in a distant future, because the great Kung Lao lived 500 years before the events of mortal kombat 1
Some of these aren't really plot twists but more like just surprising deaths. Also I honestly expected the reveal that Quan Chi killed Scorpion's clan to be #1.
Sindelar didn NOT commit suicide. Quan-chi framed the whole thing
#3 - Also known as, “All my favorite fighters are dead!”
#2 - Should have never trusted that snake, it whatever. But it was worth it to see him sucking out Shao Kahn and Evil Sindel’s soul. (Also, why is it that most of these moments come from “Aftermath”?)
#1 - Yes. All of this.
Scorpion MK1-X: GET OVER HERE!!
Scorpion MK11: Be a sport and come to me, will ya?
I really like Scorpion's character development in the current games, makes him more than just a vengeful warrior.
what a twist! even for #01!!!
The most shocking twist was Agent Stryker was actually John Cena all this time
Liu Kang becomes the king of hell - MKX
I would love to see a remake of the original Mortal Kombat, add some lore, and origins (something that is not messy), or whatnot before they add more elder gods to the roster for future releases.
Honestly, the one about Liu Kang planning to bork the timeline in the right way should've been #1. I mean, he knows how things are gonna go from when he comes into play and presumably the OG-Timeline, and he probably viewed a replay of everything prior to it so he knows what needs fixing, so the sheer fact that everything that went wrong's gonna go right should've been #1
Mortal Kombat is the GOAT game
Honestly I thought Fire God Liu Kang letting Shang Tsun win up until fighting him was a much more shocking twist than Shang Tsun betraying Shao Khan... like.... its Shsng Tsun. What did you expect Shao Khan? But Liu Kang letting Shang Tsun kill all his friends only to take him out after his moment of triumph was DEFINITELY unexpected
Same here! That is deliciously cold out of the sorcerer’s words.
watch mojo loves mk and i love it !
HOW WAS SINDELS BETRAYAL A TWIST??!?!?!?
MK12. Kitana should be Kahn of Outworld once again.
Oh, thank god! Somebody other than ME actually acknowledges that Sindel was brainwashed by Shang Tsung in Aftermath!
(And I'm SERIOUS, Shao Kahn never calls Sindel by her name in Aftermath...NOT ONCE...just "Wife".)
Plus, after MK3, Sindel broke free of her mind control, betrayed Shao Kahn, rejoined her daughter and the Earthrealmers, and began to fight with the forces of good.
Solid video
Love MK! Have you guys done a vid about "killer instinct?" One of my fav fighting games of all time.
The fact that most of these are from Mortal Kombat 11 is a testament to its story.
If his Juchin Takeda Takahashi does come out as a dlc character for MK11, I wonder like him to take revenge on D’Vorah for killing Grandmaster Hasashi.
Sub Zero Bi Han is Actually Noob Saibot aka Kuai Liang’s Older Brother.
Did anyone really didnt see shang tsung betrayal coming
Like really
The fact that "he must win" didn't refer to Liu Kang should have been obvious given that Liu DID win in the original timeline, and the whole point is that Raiden was trying to change something. New timeline Raiden couldn't know that because for all he knew the message came from a future where Liu lost and that's what went wrong, but for the player, it should have been obvious that Liu winning would just be repeating the same failed cycle of events.
That being said, "he must win" was a stupidly ambiguous message. How about, "Khan must win"?
#5... Best thing to happen to all of Mortal Kombat.
Plot twist watch mojo participated in a mortal twist
Plot Twist: Mortal Kombat women started to no longer wear skimpy clothing.
Plot Twist #2: After MK Trilogy, the ninja characters no longer wear simple pallet-swapped clothes.
😔😒
Johnny Cage still is a Chippendale's dancer
Johnny Cage's Nut-Buster move still draws in all the women though, @@Paulafan5.
This was the list of plot twists - not tragedies.
C'mon Shang Tung a suprise? Really? The SURPRISE is if he didn't betray anyone
