The Hawks were a very good team from the mid to late ‘80s. I used to watch them often on TBS.

Love the 80’s Celtics but man Nique was something special. He and Bird always seemed to put on a show.

Considering the '86 Celtics are widely considered one of the best teams of all time, the Hawks made a very good account of themselves.

I agree. Although I’ve always been a Celtics fan, I always liked the players from Atlanta. Doc Rivers and Dominique (The Human Highlight Reel) were my favorite Hawks. The Hawks always seemed to give the Celtics a lot of trouble. Not only that, I always thought they did it with a lot of class. My favorite highlights of a Hawks-Celtics game was when Bird got so hot that game it seemed that all he had to do was throw the ball towards the goal and it would go in!! The Hawks bench got in trouble with their coach because they actually started showing their amazement and delight at Bird’s performance, actually cheering when he scored! You won’t see that kind of class anywhere, anymore.

LoL! They did? Celtics beat them 4 games to 1 and in game 5 I think it was the fourth quarter, Celtic's outscored them 36 to 6, how the hell did the Hawks hold their own against the 86 Celtics?😅

I'm from Atlanta and I was like 9 years old when these games were played. The old hawks team was awesome though. I remember the whole city being behind the team. Nique was the MAN bro. The old omni arena was lit too. They just ran into a great celtics team

Funny thing is during this time I was into NWA wrestling in Atlanta, I stayed in Columbus around the same time, great times and the crowd in Atlanta was always live. How ironic those WWF/NWA arenas when they played basketball, same crowd, same fearless fandom and great entertainment by the athletes competing at a high level being professional. Think about it back then, the music, entertainment, and the blue color jobs were all 100% professional.

actually if I watch current Celtics games, they don't move the ball up and down the floor as fast as these guys. They often walk it up more today. And J Brown goes 1 on 3 late in the game with D.White wide open - I think Bird, Magic, and even Jordan would pass. But not JB.

And somehow...someway...this team won the title- was 40-1 at home.
If a player shoots "almost all the shots" the defense will take that away eventually. You have to have varied offensive options and with all the powerful front line Boston had, guys like Ainge, Bird, D J. etc have to be able to make some outside shots or the defense will just pack it in.
I think maybe KC Jones knew what he was doing- this would be his second title in 3 years.

Bad coaching? You have the audacity to say bad coaching? They won the NBA championship you chowda head, must have been because of bad coaching, its a shame you weren't the coach for the Celtics in 86 (😅) , reading your strategy is amazing, if they played how you mention they definitely would have gone 41 and 0 at home instead of that 40 and 1 due to bad coaching,,,,,,,,,, dude, psssssst 🫡, you are fucking clueless, 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫, lmao 😂😂😂😂
