I agree. Although I’ve always been a Celtics fan, I always liked the players from Atlanta. Doc Rivers and Dominique (The Human Highlight Reel) were my favorite Hawks. The Hawks always seemed to give the Celtics a lot of trouble. Not only that, I always thought they did it with a lot of class. My favorite highlights of a Hawks-Celtics game was when Bird got so hot that game it seemed that all he had to do was throw the ball towards the goal and it would go in!! The Hawks bench got in trouble with their coach because they actually started showing their amazement and delight at Bird’s performance, actually cheering when he scored! You won’t see that kind of class anywhere, anymore.
@alonzomadero9413 The NickSmithNBA channel has a video about that game with highlights and interviews with those "guys on the bench." I think you'll probably enjoy it.
LoL! They did? Celtics beat them 4 games to 1 and in game 5 I think it was the fourth quarter, Celtic's outscored them 36 to 6, how the hell did the Hawks hold their own against the 86 Celtics?😅
Look how interesting the pregame analyst guys were.....today you just have theatrics and bunch of phonies who want to be seen with the same old soft ball questions just repeating the same thing over and over again
I'm from Atlanta and I was like 9 years old when these games were played. The old hawks team was awesome though. I remember the whole city being behind the team. Nique was the MAN bro. The old omni arena was lit too. They just ran into a great celtics team
Funny thing is during this time I was into NWA wrestling in Atlanta, I stayed in Columbus around the same time, great times and the crowd in Atlanta was always live. How ironic those WWF/NWA arenas when they played basketball, same crowd, same fearless fandom and great entertainment by the athletes competing at a high level being professional. Think about it back then, the music, entertainment, and the blue color jobs were all 100% professional.
New school most don't see the patience, floor spacing, passing, FG percentage, foot work, court vision, or IQ. Boston true juggernauts. Oh and the help D! Forgot Bird moment without the ball for quick shoot.🎉
24:41 (laughing at self) As I read comments, Ainge posts up on Spud Webb. Watching this out of the corner of my eye, for an instant, I think it’s McHale taking the shot, given Webb’s height.
Fun fact: 3 of Shaq’s future Magic backups in this. Greg Kite backed up Shaq his rookie year, Tree Rollins his third year (as a playing assistant coach!) and then Jon Koncak his 4th and final year with the Magic.
This wasn't the east finals, it was the semi finals, the Celtics played Milwaukee in the east finals and swept them, 4-0, to go to the NBA finals to play Houston.
The Celtics were athletic, people just didn't realize how much wind and cardio it takes to play year after year like Boston competing at that level with all the great athletes as their competition. I will never underestimate the Celtics athleticism.
The Couz!! Hearing his voice brings be back to watching this game and season live at 10yo, its also ironic they are talking about Doc being a force during a Celtics playoff run when 20 years later he takes us to 2 Finals and 1 more Championship. Spoiler alert, Celtics go all the way...
One of the greatest officials in basketball history. Criminal he is not in the Hall of Fame, yet many of the other big names of the era (Strom, Garretson, Bavetta, Evans and maybe Crawford later this year) are.
actually if I watch current Celtics games, they don't move the ball up and down the floor as fast as these guys. They often walk it up more today. And J Brown goes 1 on 3 late in the game with D.White wide open - I think Bird, Magic, and even Jordan would pass. But not JB.
If Jaylen Brown would play he would go 1 vs 3 and not pass the ball to a wide open player. I guess he is better than Bird or Magic, because they would find the guy. JB is a bonehead
1353 ainge has some of best inside players in history and take 20 foot shot LOL wtf bro lol lol amazing how bad coaching is mchale should shot almost all shots for celtics and bird or parish a few and ainge only layup same dj
And somehow...someway...this team won the title- was 40-1 at home. If a player shoots "almost all the shots" the defense will take that away eventually. You have to have varied offensive options and with all the powerful front line Boston had, guys like Ainge, Bird, D J. etc have to be able to make some outside shots or the defense will just pack it in. I think maybe KC Jones knew what he was doing- this would be his second title in 3 years.
Bad coaching? You have the audacity to say bad coaching? They won the NBA championship you chowda head, must have been because of bad coaching, its a shame you weren't the coach for the Celtics in 86 (😅) , reading your strategy is amazing, if they played how you mention they definitely would have gone 41 and 0 at home instead of that 40 and 1 due to bad coaching,,,,,,,,,, dude, psssssst 🫡, you are fucking clueless, 😵💫😵💫😵💫, lmao 😂😂😂😂
937 big time foul by doc rivers no call LOL i used ot call that in pickup basketball and peolpe be falbbergasted in early 90s and I was loiek dude u took half my forearm off thats foul every single time lol
The Hawks were a very good team from the mid to late ‘80s. I used to watch them often on TBS.
Love the 80’s Celtics but man Nique was something special. He and Bird always seemed to put on a show.
Dominique should have been in The Dream Team.
Agree he should have been on the Dream Team.
Love Dominique
@@nohisocitutampoc2789I think he was injured
103 -101. 1:15 left in game ond Omni is going crazy. And of course it was Bird with the big bucket make it 105-101 and it was a wrap !
Whenever Cousy references the Celtics, it always sounds like he's calling them the "Cellecks", like Tom Selleck.....
i know it's pretty off topic but do anybody know a good site to watch newly released movies online ?
@Nelson Bodie Try flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
I can't stand the way he talks. Wobert Pawish. Are you kidding me? I'll take Mike Gorman ANYDAY.
Considering the '86 Celtics are widely considered one of the best teams of all time, the Hawks made a very good account of themselves.

One of the best? In my opinion the BEST TEAM EVER to this day.
86 Celtics were like a tsunami , they were going to destroy anything in there path to the title.
Even if it was the Lakers in the finals instead of Houston
Look how interesting the pregame analyst guys were.....today you just have theatrics and bunch of phonies who want to be seen with the same old soft ball questions just repeating the same thing over and over again
Except for Sir Charles Barkley.
Great old days of the NBA
Bird, McHale & Parrish what an impressive frontcourt.
One of the best ever
@@Katmundu THE best ever.
And Walton off the bench as well 😁
Love watching these old games

Happy Birthday Larry Bird

💯
Today's boring game has players standing around the 3 point arc.
24:41 (laughing at self) As I read comments, Ainge posts up on Spud Webb. Watching this out of the corner of my eye, for an instant, I think it’s McHale taking the shot, given Webb’s height.
This series wasn't the East finals in 1986. The Celtics swept the Bucks in the next round, which were the East finals.
It's 103 to 101 Boston and the Atlanta crowd is in a frenzy and Bird calmly lands a 15 foot jumper to make it 105-101 with 90 seconds left in game
The series at 1:05:31 is vintage genius Bird--great steal, quick hand-off pass, fake pass on the receive and buried long-range jumper.
Back when teams were loaded before expansion
Fun fact: 3 of Shaq’s future Magic backups in this. Greg Kite backed up Shaq his rookie year, Tree Rollins his third year (as a playing assistant coach!) and then Jon Koncak his 4th and final year with the Magic.
Great find
Knowing facts like that, must make you a basketball genius. You’re probably the only person who knew that, now we all know.
Bob Cousy!! The Houdini Of The Hardwood!!
This is Eastern Conference semi finals not the eastern conference finals
This wasn't the east finals, it was the semi finals, the Celtics played Milwaukee in the east finals and swept them, 4-0, to go to the NBA finals to play Houston.
2 Masters champions also doing commentary...amazing
This series showed why brains beats athleticism every day of the week.

Loved the organ at the old Omni. Very unique, as were all of the old buildings. Now they just blast music nonstop.
Best team ever, hands down. Bird, the best player, from the neck up. Never will there ever be a player, like him. Enjoy the ride.

celtics vs hawks games always fun to watch .
What a pass by Bird near end of game!
Atlanta lives but to next episode with Boston and Celts.
Mike fratello era el entrenador de atlanta?
hawks did not make conference finals
1:30:50 Spud Webb with the clutch rebound! 😂🎉

Wow (Celtics)-(Hawks) D. Wilkins the slam dunk champ
I wonder who Gil Santos considers the best athlete he ever saw in person---Bird or Brady?
Atlanta always had a great team I would have thought they would have gotten further
