Bobby Kimballs singing on GIRL GOODBYE is why I became a fan and bought the debut album in late 1978. David Paich and Jeff Porcaro made the right choice putting together the personnel in that band 👏
Any reason why the song Angela was never mentioned in the video? One of my all-time favorite Toto songs. I was really looking forward to what David Paich had to say about it. Maybe next interview...... Thanks John for the video. It was great to watch.
That album reminds me of me exporing music and trying to develope my guitar skills. All I really cared about with every release was Luke's guitar playing. But after time I really understod how good these songs were. It takes me back to when, for me, music was exciting and an adventure to figure things out. It was a fun time to be a learning musician.
Thanks John! Maybe you can talk to the Toto guys (& a few fans maybe) about some insights on Kingdom of Desire & Mindfields, since there is no BTS material on those albums. Simon also once mentioned that the A&R guy with Sony didn't like some of their material back then, so maybe there is unreleased material from Tambu and Mindfields?
John, I appreciate your channel and especially when you feature Toto. If you do continue going back and featuring the past albums and you cover Hydra, can you possibly find out the truth about the supposed concept that the band had where it was going to be a double album where the first song Hydra was going to take up the entire first side of the first album? I remember reading that many years ago but have not heard any confirmation from the band. As a big fan, I can honestly say that a twenty plus minute version of the song Hydra would have been amazing. Yes, a bit pretentious possibly, but what an idea. Even hearing them playing during the fade out you can tell there was a lot more there. And like you, I love the Fahrenheit and The Seventh One albums. So, any new info on those releases would be cool as well.
Easily one of my ten favorite album's ever. For a Top 5 hit single, Hold The Line has one of the heaviest guitar solos EVER. Georgy Porgy missed the Top 40 on the pop charts, yet it went top 20 on the Soul Singles charts, which was very cool. I just love that album, I think Taking It Back is the weakest song on the album, yet it's still pretty good! It's just that the other tracks are so damn great! And you hardly ever hear about how great David Hungate is as a bassist, he's one of the best

Jeff Porcaro, one of greatest drummers.......ever.
I may not agree with John about Laura Nigro, but Toto, YES!!!

Kimball did all the vocals on you supply the love .
At 6:01, is that Frida from
ABBA?
"You supply the night---I'll supply love"---Worst pickup line ever!🤣🤣 Sung by the Ragin Cajun himself, Robaire Toteaux!
No....they may have been great players, but TOTO....?!
Lame pop tripe.
Unlistenable lameness.
