For the Sinnoh one, I agree with not having Turtwig evolve all the way to Torterra, but I think it should have evolved into Grotle. It was a nice teaching moment for Ash that not all battle styles work the same. And it did win a battle against Candace’s Snezel and did have an epic fight against Palmer. Also, it had a nice relationship with Paul’s Torterra. So overall, it should have just evolved into Grotle.
Or gained a ground type move to use as torterra to deal with electric types

I was totally outraged. Not just at the fact Goh got sobble, but also at the fact that it was caught in the worst, most anticlimactic, totally meaningless fashion. Like that is not how u catch a starter u idiot!! 😠😤
For Ash's Unova Team, I myself would make it:
-Pikachu
-Samurott
-Unfezant
-Gigalith
-Leavanny
-Krookodile
I know some may disagree, but hear me out:
For Samurott, yeah it would lose its personality a bit, but it would become more confident, proud, and brave after fully evolving from a wimpy Oshawott to a mature and brave Samurott. Plus, I just think Ash having a Samurott would be super cool, as it's my favorite Unova starter, has impressive speed, a good move pool, and is a sea lion with samurai armor. What's there not to love about that? Yeah a Serperior having a rivalry with Trip's would be interesting, but I just feel like Samurott would make things more interesting. Even if Samurott is at a disadvantage, he can still stand up and prove to Trip that he's no weakling. For a move set, I would give Samurott Hydro Pump, Razor Shell, Aqua Jet, and Megahorn.
For Unfezant, I think what it needed was to NOT be switched out constantly, have more of a personality and growth development, and a better move set. We know Ash almost ALWAYS has the first bird of each region, so Unfezant should be no exception. Even if it's not very tough in terms of defense, it can still make up for it with speed and strong attack power. That's what seems to fit Ash's battle style. For a move set, I would give her Aerial Ace, Steel Wing, Air Slash, and Sky Attack.
Next up is Gigalith. I know Ash doesn't do well with slow Pokemon, but if he had a more tanky Pokemon on his team, then he might be able to adapt to its battle style. Plus, Boldore had potential but never fully evolved. If it did, then the move set it should get would be: Stone Edge, Iron Defense, Flash Cannon, and Superpower.
Next up is Leavanny. While I'll admit having a Snivy is good, I think Ash's bug/grass type would give him extra coverage. As for its moves, I'd give it Energy Ball, X-Scissor, Leaf Storm, and Leaf Blade.
Lastly, there's Krookadile, who would become Ash's second best Pokemon behind Samurott. His move pool would consist of Crunch, Dragon Claw, Dig, and Stone Edge.
Now this is all how I would do it, and is just my own personal bias. I'm not disagreeing with Lumiose Trainer's Zac's choices at all. I'm just stating how I myself would do it in my own opinion. That's all.
Ngl, that's a pretty Solid team overall. I agree with most of the Mons you gave him plus their reasonings for being there. But personally, I would swap out Gigalith for Scrafty. Having a fighting type is more benefitial than a Rock type, plus Scrafty can still have Gigalith's defensive Battling style with his Baggy Skin. On top of that, his personality fits Ash better imo plus Him and Axew were the babies of the group. So having both of them mature and develop at the same time and reach their true potentials would be so rewarding.
@@gocesamardziev8450 I guess Scrafty is good too. It's dark and fighting type gives Ash more coverage. I guess the reason I first thought Gigalith was because Ash hardly catches any Rock types. Not to mention, he needs to get better at fighting with slow and bulky Pokemon.
@@dragonman2168 that's definitely a good case to be made. I agree that he needs to get use to utilizing different battling styles with different kinds of pokemon besides Quick and speedy ones. I guess that same battling style can still be done with Scrafty, since it has high defenses and is pretty slow in comparison to the rest of his team.
Very similar to Gigalith. As for him having more Rock types, i doubt Gigalith would make a big impact on his team considering years later he'll get a Lycanroc with a very rare form, his own exclusive Z-Move, hands-on training from a legendary and is also the mon that wins him his first league.

They robbed ash again of ash having an eevee. A recent poster from journeys shows that chloe will get an eevee. Although I’m glad she’s getting even more development it still sucks in my opinion.

My thoughts on each of your respective teams:
Kanto: Like the idea of Bulbasaur evolving since it was one of his most used Pokemon and it would make a nice parallel to Red. Also enjoy Haunter being here as well since I don't really understand why it needed to stay with Sabrina. I'd still want to keep Pidgeot and just make it more relevant with a stronger personality and better record, since Farfetch'd is a little... underwhelming in my opinion. And he would not release it.
Johto: I'm good with Heracross sticking around and I like Cyndaquil evolving in this series. I'd keep Totodile since it had such a notable personality, and I'd just do something about its battle record. I'm curious to hear your reasons for axing Noctowl and Phanpy - I mean, Noctowl I think I get since it wasn't really notable besides being shiny. I'd also like to find a way to squeeze in the hatched Larvitar since it built such a connection with Ash and it was interesting to see Pokemon dealing with trauma. I'd like to give him an Espeon, but I'm probably giving him too much at this point. I wouldn't know where to give it to him, honestly. Maybe Battle Frontier.
Hoenn: Honestly, no complaints with that one. Mudkip would do a lot better with Ash, and it could learn an Ice-type move for coverage and also so we wouldn't miss Glalie too much. I'm guessing Glalie's out because it came so late in the series and wasn't very memorable. Flygon, yes, I agree that Ash should have gotten one. The movies put too many thoughts in our heads. Personality wise, it could do the biting thing, but also give it bits of Corphish's battle-hungry rough and tumble personality.
Sinnoh: Again, few to no complaints. I don't necessarily think you have to get rid of Gliscor: Ash can catch it early and then release it a bit quicker so as to give Gible ample time to be trained and evolve. Because, yes, Ash looks good with a Garchomp. I would also still allow Turtwig to evolve into Grotle, but keep it as Grotle as it was still able to use some cool tricks like eating its own Energy Ball and I liked that development where it studied under Paul's Torterra to get used to its heavier body.
Unova: I'm mostly good with this one - I like having Oshawott and Snivy evolve and I think Ash looks better with a Braviary (TBH, I had no idea there was so much Unfeazant hate). I also like that Ash isn't doing the rotation thing - I did think Palpitoad and Leavanny were unnecessary since yeah, Ash had Water and Grass types already. I'd still keep Tepig and maybe just keep it as a Tepig. It's just because I can't see Ash with a Darmanitan myself and you know, Ash and the starters. I'd probably just change its backstory so its not a carbon copy of Charizard and Infernape.
Kalos: Once again, no complaints. I can see Ash rocking a Chesnaught. As for Noivern, I think we could even bleed some of Goodra's backstory into it.
Alola: I'm the same in that I honestly thought Ash was going to catch a Passimian. It just seemed like such a good fit. I'm mostly good with this one, except that I'm on the fence over Naganadel and Melmetal. I guess with how I'd imagine the anime to be Naganadel could still play a part an overarching secondary arc, but in the end, yeah, it would probably be better to keep it released.
Journeys: Arcanine was probably the biggest surprise for me here, but I wouldn't be that upset if he got it. It is a really cool Pokemon and does fit Ash's hard and fast battle style. I'm wondering if there could be any way to squeeze in Corviknight since it's an awesome Pokemon and we've skipped out on giving Ash a regional bird, although this series has broken tradition in a lot of ways. I'm also thinking about putting Kubfu in since people have speculated on whether Ash could get it, and honestly it would work for his team well ( I know Farfetch'd is getting development now, but I still it's not working out). As for the Galar starters, I'd keep Rillaboom as a Thwackey since there's a little too much bulk on Ash's team between Arcanine, Dragonite, and a potential Corviknight/Urshifu.
So, that's my respective thoughts. P.S: I'd be interested in seeing a series of videos where you discuss what kind of changes you'd make to each of the anime series. I've seen your review series for each of the Pokemon anime iterations and I thoroughly enjoyed them, but I'd also like to hear your thoughts on the idealized versions of them.
Ash would be champion so by journeys he would be done with that phase of not evolving Pokémon there is not to much bulk

I'd have scrapped the pathetic torkoal and replace it with flygon, as well as make corphish evolve into crawdaunt

I don´t want him to have two starters in the same team. Every time that happens one of them gets overshadowed by the other. Like Bulbasaur and Squirtle with Charizard, Torterra with Infernape, Rowlet is quite popular and memorable but by comparison to Incineroar, he clearly got arcs with more comedic theme for the most part (even if he also got some great battles). In Galar, I would like to see Ash/Satoshi get Rillaboom. Specially since he hasn´t had an ace grass starter pokemon since gen 3 (snivy got close to be the ace in gen 5 but he had to share a lot of screentime with Pignite. And if you consider the rest of his team, Krokodile was more of an ace in Unova than the starters to some extend).
And about his Kalos team, I honestly would´ve changed Talonflame instead of Goodra. Talonflame is pretty cool but by comparison was probably the pokemon in his kalos team with the least amount of personality. That is actually one of the problems with the pokemon that look too much as real world animals in the anime. Mainly because they are more limited in terms of expressiveness and even movements in battle (in the case of quadrupeds) which is why basically of Ash/Satoshi´s aces in every region are bipedal.
Well all ash's kalos mons lost thier personality in the last season frogadier has better personality than greninja can you remember a decent moment of it outside of battles and how noivern has a personality over Talonflame
+ fletchling has a great personality
+ talonflame was never defeated before knocking out an opponent
As for bulbasaur it wasn't overshadowed by charizard especially in terms of personality it was even better than it sometimes just look at the Battle Vs brandon
As for Rowlett it got more screen time than the litten line and had a better personality

For the most part, his kalos team does have personality. Greninja´s personality just changed to a personality more commonly associated with ninjas, which is why it´s less expressive than Frogadier. As for Noivern, he does have personality (mostly thanks to his mentor/student relationship with Hawlucha, who by the way has a lot of personality). And Goodra got a whole character arc just like most of the team.
Fletchling and the rest of his line has great battle prowess but it was definitely by comparison way less flesh out in terms of personality. It didn´t had any connection to any other pokemon, a rival pokemon to fight or an actual character arc and as it went evolving he also lose expressiveness as well.
All the Kanto starter are overall pretty beloved and iconic, that´s true. But there´s no doubt that by comparison Bulbasaur and Squirtle got completely overshadowed by Charizard.
And no, Rowlet does have a great personality and some cool training arcs but he definitely didn´t have more screen time than Litten (who got a rival and an entire character arc).

I agree with most of this. I just would've kept Totodile and have it evolve into a Croconaw, he keeps Phampy/Donphan in rotation, and he ends up with Larvitar afterall.

I find it so dumb he said that when he literally put a darmantain which its pre evolved form's shit was used to warm people up. So he got that way wrong. I didnt like he didnt add Pignite, he could have evolved it to Emboar in this version
Same for taking out totadile, the point of kanto johto and unova were that ash had all 3 starters in each of them and I always loved that, so I dont like that zach completely changed it and only left all kanto starters :/

I don't think Corphish should be replaced, he can evolve, after Greninja Corphish had best record in battles among Ash's water type.
Coincidentally, he would have two Water/Dark types if Corphish evolved.
No squirtle had but I definitely think corphish shouldn't replace
@@FootballChad Squirtle was only useful in 2 orange island, 1 johto league and 1 battle frontier battle while being useless in rest of 3 series while Corphish only use in 1 series but bring more important wins.
Squirtle MAYBE (or maybe not) more powerful than corphish but Corphish did more than Squirtle in whole anime.
What about Kingler.
I would have really liked if Ash's Buizel evolved. It's one of his mons that scream out personality to me.
You could technically make Goodra Clemonts for Bonnie until he hast to go back to the swamp. Plus Goodra Neck and not only learn several electric moves But it also has moves for setting up Raindance which increase the accuracy of thunder when used
For Ash's Sinnoh team, I would fully evolve Turtwig into a Torterra because I just really like the pokemon being fully evolved. (Even though he got screwed over)
The biggest change that I made is replacing Gliscor with Weavile, a Sinnoh pokemon that can only evolve from a Johto pokemon while holding a razor named item during the night time just like Gliscor.
While people want Ash to have a Flygon and a Lucario, Weavile is a pokemon I always want Ash to have. While people say that Paul has a Weavile already and that kept Sinnoh Ash from having one of his own, let me remind you of Paul's Torterra and Paul's Gliscor, two pokemon that ash had in Sinnoh. Ash is not really known for having ice type pokemon, he only has two ice types (Lapras and Glalie) and only released one of them. Besides, Ash having a Weavile for an ice type would make way more sense and way more believable than a floating ice head that only battled in the Hoenn League and was never heard from again right after and a pokemon that was only used for riding through the ocean.

It feels weird that Ash’s team that breaks old trends with his new team.
The only change I would make to Ash's Hoenn team is keeping in Corphish instead of the Mudkip line, but have it suck less as it finally evolves in the Battle Frontier saga.
Sobble could go trough the same arc as Goomy, especially since he won't have goodra.
Espeon and Tyranitar definitely, Ash should have caught the larvitar he was caring for

Espeon was a great choice. You have no idea how salty I was when they did this cool build up for Sandy only to have Lana to randomly catch it and then completely sideline it for the rest of the series.
I feel ash should have got sabrina's kadabra through trade for that one haunter that followed him around (even though he didn't own it lol). I feel it could be a surprise that the next time that ash sends out kadabra to battle, alakazam pops out and then the anime could explain trade evolutions to the watchers. Though, I feel ash wouldn't use on his main team that much, due it not being the fighting style that he prefers. And it would serve the role as muk/kingler when it only comes back for tourney matches and filler contests. Though when ash DOES use it, it nearly always will bring down atleast 1-2 pokemon because it used to be a gym leader's ace.
I would also let primeape stay since he barely got any shine at all. Plus he could have used it vs chuck for an interesting battle. I can see ash using it vs richie and actually wins this time because primeape would have been strong enough to fend off team rocket and then be strong enough to sub for ash's charizard since ash knows that it won't obey him.
Also I feel he should have caught rhyhorn from that one banned ep in the anime, I get the Tauros gag was funny but it would have been cool to see ash with a RHYDON. It fits him too, ash should get the 1st ever pokemon to be made. No offense to tauros but I feel that rhydon would have been more a sick catch for him team. And should be his sixth member slot for the rest of kanto and the original islands replacing tauros in the orange cup.

I love Ash's Tauros gag but it has gotten a bit stale. I know they probably wanted to make it 30 and keep it that way cause numbers in the 10s sound better but I would have liked it if Ash started off catching 5 different Pokemon, feel like he's on a roll and then catch the Tauros. 25 is another friendly number and I think it would still fit the "Ash gets trampled by Tauros" gag. As for the Pokemon, take your pick! I'd personally request the Nidos, Rhyhorn, Venonat and Slowpoke.
I strongly disagree with adding Dartrix.
The whole point of Rowlet is that he is unique (e.g. Rowet silently sneaking behind his opponents and him using Feather Dance as a substitute). The way that he learned Seed Bomb supports this, as he uses an Everstone as the bomb. If that isn’t unique, than I don’t know what is. Ash’s first win against Hau was even more satisfying considering that a first-stager won against his evolved form. You’d have a hard time having Rowlet evolve with an Everstone in it’s body 95% of the time.

The everstone was dumb. It may b used in a creative way but it still nerfed him. Rowlet was already shown to have a sneaky battle style which some thought foreshadowed ash having a Decidueye. The writers should have actually used that as a hint and expanded it further with evolving. Plus I don't see how they let ash get a fully evolved team once, but they don't follow suit. The rest of rowlet's teammates barring Pikachu all reached their final forms by the end
As for unique, that position was already taken by dusk lycanroc who is as unique as they get with an entirely new form
@@eljordinio7647 I mean a lot of Pokemon Ash had in Alola are unique. Melmetal is a Mythical and Naganadel is an Ultra Beast. While I'm not saying Ash having a Decidueye wasn't something I look forward to, in the end, I think Rowlet as a whole made up for it's lack of evolution. It was funny in ways I just can't see the same for it's evos and it was still plenty powerful, being able to beat both it's evolved forms. I couldn't ask for more than a powerful Pokemon with personality and Rowlet delivered with that. This is just me though.

I think Fearow would make a better flying type. Its got a feisty personality, but it would be compassionate enough to listen to Ash. He would find a Spearow after the first episode and rush to a center along with Pikachu. Thus begins... b o n d i n g t i m e.
I would Ash having a Gogoat in place of Chesnaught, I sorta felt that Chespin fit Clemont becos how different they were, Chespin was super energetic while Clemont was a bit less of that.
I also would prefer God to evolve because tbh Dartrix actually looks pretty much like Rowlet just a bit buff, also Rowlet could've retained his personality.
Would've been super cool if Ash also had caught a Scolipede in Unova.

I agree that Ash should get Sobble instead of Goh. He would have been a good Trainer for it, and he would have helped it overcome its fears and insecurities. Furthermore, I saw artworks made by artists, which depicted Ash with this Water-type Pokémon. One of these depicts the former comforting the latter, and that was something that I liked a lot.
Here are some facts: Firstly, Ash took care of a Larvitar until returning it to its mother, a Tyranitar. Secondly, in the X and Y series, he has owned his male Noivern ever since it was a newly hatched Noibat, whom Ash was able to calm down when it cried. Thirdly, in the Sun and Moon series, he took care of a Cosmog nicknamed "Nebby" (Lillie gave it its name) until it reached its evolution into a Solgaleo.
So, why did they give Sobble to Goh?! To be honest, I am one of the people who were salty about Goh getting it instead of Ash, and I'm still both completely disappointed and salty about it.
According to information of Bulbapedia, Sobble's final evolved form, Inteleon, is said to be completely loyal to Trainers it sees as worthy. I think this would mean something. And as a result, I still think Ash should have Sobble, because the former cares so much for his Pokémon and treats them with outmost care and respect. He would have done the same with this Water-type Pokémon, right?
I hope my word will reach those who wanted Ash to get Sobble. My feelings about this are true.

Agree with Kanto, Johto, surprisingly Hoenn, kinda glad Turtwig stays although Grotle would make sense since that arc wasn't fully completed.
Before anyone gets at me, I don't hate the Unova team. The problem is a lot of them didn't get a lot of screen time and focus, I think limiting the team makes sense but I also feel like had the writers focued more on, a 9 mon team could've worked.
Like the UltraBeast, I felt the galar farfetch was only added to Ash's team by the anime team because it was personally developed by a staff person. Which is explains why not much attention is given to it.
Note: As of today Ash has the following: Gengar, Lucario--Mega lucario, Dragonite, Dracovish, and Sirfecth'd.
Alternative: For Kanto Team, IF they made the Ash vs Richie episode in the league (with the annoyance of team rocket and having ash team tired). When Ash is down to his last pokemon, instead of using Charizard, his Bulbasaur comes out of his pokeball by himself to fight Richie Charmander, despite the type disadvantage. In the battle, Bulbasaur finally chooses to evolve, and win the battle.
For Sinnoh, Ash could still have 7 pokemon, and have his gible evolve into gabite or garchomp, while gliscor is away. Then have buizel evolve into floatzel before the league, or during the episode he learns ice punch.
For Kalos: If you wanna keep goodra, instead of halucha and noivern, the extra slot could be a steel type lie aegislash to cover, the ice/fairy weakness.

To not go through everything, I actually really dig Ivysaur since it can fit the big brother of the lab a whole lot, Turtwig not evolving is what it should have happened, it's so sad he couldn't make it work like Dawn could make the bulky Mamoswine work. I feel like having an abandoned fire starter plot COULD have been ok if Team Plasma managed to use it as a point in the story, but like, no Shamus is a Damian 2.0 and there's nothing more to it, so yeah Darmanitan please.

Ash's Chesnaught should be the same Chespin that Clemont has in the Real Timeline, it also fits ash since of its love of food (aka Serenas Macaroons)

I have a good tip I would recommend choosing sobble then when its leons battle you one shot it with max geyser
personally here's the changes I would make to Ash's teams
for Kanto I'd have him use Dodrio as I feel its gimmick of having three heads could make for some great comedy with them fighting each other, and he'd keep his Primape all the way through
for Johto I would have him use Kingler from Kanto as his main water type and he'd evolve Phanpy into Donphan during Johto
for Hoenn instead of flygon, I would have him use Zangoose, mainly to act as a rival to Jesse's Seviper, that and he would evolve his Corphish as I really love Crawdaunt
for Sinnoh I would have him evolve his Buizel, still evolve his torterra and just have it not get worfed at every opportunity, and still let him have Garchomp
and that's pretty much it
I think, Turtwig should evolve only in Grotle, but not into Torterra. Ash should've just train with his new defensive style way more. I would also change his moveset

This might come off really late, but I was thinking maybe Torterra could have learned Rock Polish so that it could possibly have a chance at being speedy (not in the level of Turtwig, but hey it's better then nothing).

Squirtle was the weak link in the Kanto team, but everyone agrees that he should stay. I feel like that if Gliscor had traveled with Ash some more, like Phanpy in the Battle Frontier instead of being ditched right after the Sinnoh League, we would have seen a MUCH more valuable battle in Gliscor

Yeah i've always thought Darnanitan and Braviary should've been the ones caught instead of Pignite and Unfezant. Darmanitan is just an all around more fitting pokemon for Ash(and much stronger of course). It could also play both comedic and powerhouse roles.Also since they decided to only evolve Tepig once, it would've made much more sense for Ash to have caught a 2 stage Pokemon like Darumaka instead.
As for Braviary.... well there's not much explaining we have to do for it replacing Unfezant(its superior to Unfezant in every way possible). Dewott is another Pokemon i've always thought should be on Ash's unova team. Its design is more versatile than both Oshawott and Samurott so it could pull off both serious and comedic roles very well. Only change I'd make to the Unova team would be replacing Snivy with Crustle. Since Trip would be using Serperior as his main pokemon, the Snivy line would already be getting enough representation.
Crustle would take the place of both Boldor and Leavanny(Leavanny would go to Cilan in my version). Its quite fitting for Ash as well. Plus Ash doesn't really need a grass type.
Darmanitan would be so good for Ash in replacement of Pignite. Instead of recycling from Charmander I could see Ash's Darumaka being a little jokester and it soon evolving into the beastly Darmanitan with a few eps dedicated to Ash learning how to work with the shift in battle styles Zen Mode gives. A fast frail Pokemon becoming much more defensive and special oriented. Think of the possibilities.
For Braviary, not much needs to be said. They could've given him a Rufflet with a shy but proud personality and have it evolve into a badass Braviary who can do a victory pose every time it wins a match or something instead of what we got, which was unpleasant to say the least.
I also think Dewott could lend itself more to Oshawott's personality than Oshawott or Samarott. Plus him dual weilding Scalchops for Razor Shell would be sick.
For Snivy, I know Ash doesn't need a Grass type and he'd be overlapping with Trip but I like it too much to let it go. Leavanny too but I'm much more willing to with him. Boldure can especially go. Don't got a replacement though.
Honestly, I never really thought that much about it before, but I think you're right, Leavanny would make a lot more sense as a Pokemon for Cilan to own.

In the Alola team instead of Ash Catching a Pasimian it should be a Kommo-o or go as far as to catch Solgaleo or he could still keep Naganadel and in the Journeys team Ash should catch a shiny or normal Rookidee and evolve until it’s a badass Corviknight and catch a Zoroark, an Inteleon or Eternatus(like seriously Ash has to catch Eternatus more numerous reasons e.g the fact that it can destroy an entire region if left in the wrong hands and Ash has raised a Legendary Pokémon and Go should not catch Legendary/Mythical Pokémon except Mew)

I would´ve changed Talonflame from his team since that was his kalos pokemon with the least amount of personality and screentime. All the others had some kind of arc, Talonflame basically didn´t have any arc. And I would´ve change it for a litleo that then would evolve into a female pyroar (since lyssandre already has a male one and malva just has a mega houndour). It also fits because it looks quite fast (and speed is always a factor in Ash/Satoshi´s team and allows cool fast paced battles) and also because there´s barely any confirmed female pokemon in Ash/Satoshi´s team.
