    I've loved Robina's teaching for many years. I will say though that I don't necessarily feel comparison to the Jesuit friend's explanation of sin is necessarily accurate. Yes, it is true that many Christians do believe sin is solely the act of doing what God says not to do; however, I think the Jesuit friend may have been answering for the core concept of 'original sin' (Adam & Eve choosing disobedience). For many contemplative Christians (of which I consider myself one) the view of sin is very similar to how Mahayana Buddhists hold the tension between natural law and karma/lower realms. God may indeed say not to kill, but holding a non-dual view is important to understand that there is a natural law at work. Creation is precious, life is precious... and this is WHY God says not to kill. Similar to the natural law as held by Buddhists... the repercussion of breaking these natural laws is a negative consequence (lower realms). Anyway, not something I get too wound up about... but it has helped me understand that actually Christianity has a deep connection to contemplative and non-dual thinking far more than the modern Evangelical tradition would lead one to believe.

      I think it comes down to "what God says not to do" due to the sense that God created you, and then punishes and rewards accordingly - serves up eternal damnation or beatitude based on whether you abide by "What he says" or not.
      There are heaven-wide differences between contemplative Christians and the Christians for who their practice is but an ornament on the shelf.

    RAGE
    RAGE
    RAGE
    I want to die
    I want to die
    I want to die
    I can no longer bear the darkness
    this grief and loneliness...
    they rape me;
    torture me;
    on a soul level
    my only prayer is for death
    I'm in hell and I can't find escape
    God has forsaken me
    my whole life I've been tortured, bullied, abused, raped
    all I do is suffer
    my life is hell
