Thank you. I may try this. I need to get enough courage to take the lens apart. I bought a used camera and this lens has speckles of "stuff" on an inside lens. I spoke to some places and people who sell cameras and they said they don't clean them and it would probably cost over 200.00 to send away and clean!
Thank you for these instructions. Very clear and straight forward. Shame the process wasn't for me. Got two of the screws out ok but the third wouldn't budge. If I send off for the screw driver on the link, coming from China will take weeks.
@@CamerasLensesEtc canon nano USM lens 18-135 not working autofocus stuck on the one position, Even manual mode doesn't work ! After that I disassembled whole lens but I didn't find any problem inside this lens , not break flep cable and apparatu motor , what should I do this lens
Generally, if the AF and MF is not working, that means hardware problem inside the lens. What I do in this case, I start to disassemble the lens, and after removing one part, I test the manual focus. If the manual focus starts working (I can twist the focusing lens element), then the problem was caused by the last removed lens parts.
Do you have a video showing the dis assembly of this specific lens (canon nano USM lens 18-135 not working autofocus stuck on the one position, Even manual mode doesn't work ! )?@@CamerasLensesEtc
If the fungus is in the inner lens elements (not on the surface of the lens elements which you can access with this video), then you have to completely disassemble the lens, and clean the lens elements one by one. I would use alcohol to clean the lens elements.
I haven't completely disassembled this lens before, so I don't know which tools are needed. My suspicion is that this lens is similar to the Canon 18-200 IS, so check the "tools" section in the description of that video.
Hi!!!! Please this is urgent, how to remove the frontal element of the canon 18-55mm IS *STM* (NOT the is ii) theres literally nothing on this lens and the front elements doesnt simply pop off like that
On the 3.5-5.6 IS STM: the soft plastic ring is adhered, you can use a plastic spudger to lift it up; on the 4-5.6 IS STM: the hard plastic cover ring is adhered, use a metal tweezers to lift it up where the small hole is, and then use a plastic spudger to put underneath it, and push up the ring.
What an excellent tutorial. Managed to clean inner element! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
thanks for the great video, but how to clean inside this glass 6:40, My lens still has dirt on it, but it looks like it's inside the glass.
Almost impossible to separate those lens elements then glue them back together perfectly.

I'm quite sure you can buy PH000 screwdrivers in the local hardware shop. Other tip: heat the screw with a soldering gun, and then try to remove it.
@@CamerasLensesEtc I took it to a Jewellers and he managed to unscrew it. The rest was straight forward, thanks to your instructions. Thank you!

Can you suggest me a quality fungs cleaning kit?
I used lens cleaning fluid to do that. Also, I read that cleaning alcohol is also works, but I haven't tried it yet.
