    I need to visit England with my Fuji 3D camera!
    Those churches are wonderful (church architecture is by far the best in the world)...and the stained glass windows are divine. Thank you.

    I’m using the isolation time in Denver to explore the world from my couch. Your work has opened up a window on a glorious corner of it that I had read about and now have a chance to see in an intimate way. Thank you for keeping so many of us connected to wonderful places as we dutifully confine ourselves to our safe spaces.

    Enjoying your videos. In your knowledge of history, you remind me of my father who visited the UK in the 1970's. However, in your speech and appearance, you remind me of my uncle, his younger brother. Most of my father's ancestors were Scottish, but he was born in the US.

    This video is great! I am moving to Witney very soon and this has made me even more excited. The town has amazing character. As for the 2021 recovery you predicted, I can confirm that the town was absolutely HEAVING with people and businesses last weekend. everyone was having picnics on the Green and all the pubs and restaurants were packed (al fresco for now, obviously). It really is a lovely town. Thank you for this vid, I will now check out your others....hopefully there is one on Cirencester! ;-)

    I enjoyed the video, and liked Witney. For some reason I had the perception that it was an overdeveloped postwar dormitory town - not at all true. It could do with having railway links though. The loss of the Fairford line was a mistake.

    My hometown.
    Grew up there, was a choir boy at St Mary's Church on the green in the sixties.
    Lovely, but expensive place to live. 32 pubs within two miles of the High Street.

    Hi Robin i grew up in the village of quenington so I now witney very well they are only 15 miles apart i love witney it's a proper worker's town it's much better than cirencester my local town which thinks it's better than the rest of the cotswolds but in fact it's one of the worst towns even for the tourists i left quenington 35 years ago to move to denmark with my job but I still miss the cotswolds witney has so much going on and things to do the council there seems to know how to look after it better than the cotswold District council in cirencester lovely video keep up the good work.

    West Oxfordshire struck gold when they chose to actually create parking facilities whilst scrapping all parking fees. I wish other authorities would take note.
    I live in Moreton in Marsh and although some on-street parking is free, spaces are almost impossible to come by, so people often just carry on to Witney for a day out.

    The town I grew up in...and my hasnt it changed since 1958. As you say, IF the transport links can keep up. 40 years ago I took part in a public consultation to dual the A40 to Oxford. Didnt happen (obviously) and now the road is frequently plagued by congestion. It might be somewhat relieved by re-instating the railway line (which existed in my early years) which was axed by Beeching. No be fair to Beeching, the town had around 5000 inhabitants back then and the justification wasnt there. But now with nearly 30,000 and the assorted traffic congestion, I'm pretty sure the case could be made. I doubt it will happen though.

    I remember passing through Witney en route to London taking the now defunct Black-and-White coaches from Cheltenham . It could take half an hour to get through the town as the traffic but so dense

  • @recall2880

    Used to be lovely. Now full of housing estates and pollution. The traffic is ridiculous now. Shortage of dentists, doctors and schools. 90s infrastructure that hasn’t changed since. A one bed shoe box is now £700 a month to rent. One of the most expensive places in the country. Stay away. It’s a dump

    • @bunchberry9957
      @bunchberry9957 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Recall Really? Witney has a lot of money being put into it. It's one of the most affluent places in Oxfordshire. I've known people that lived in Witney for over 20 years and they say that it's still just as good back then as it is now. It's one of those places that hasn't drastically changed. Yes it's expensive but everything has gone up everywhere. Witney's still a really nice place. You can walk up the High Street and have everything on your doorstep. There are some really lovely cafes and bars and shops there. If you want a place that really is a dump then go to Swindon. You'll be desperate to get out. It's a hellhole.

    • @recall2880
      @recall2880 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bunchberry9957 It has not got alot of money being put back into it. A lot of shops are empty now including ones in the shopping centre. The roads and hedges and grass etc are never maintained properly anymore. The river Windrush and banks are no longer kept nice. Thames water is dumping sewage it and there’s about ten more housing estates here. Funny you say Swindon because people have said it is starting to resemble Swindon. Not sure who you have been chatting to who say it hasn’t changed. It has changed massively! They must not of gone outside their front door. Over 20 years you say. I’ve lived here since 1986 myself.
