I would argue with Carrot that her tragic backstory was in real time, basically Pedro sacrificing himself and his enemy still being alive after his sacrifice.
I understand your argument, and I can see how you would feel that way. Carrot's backstory is indeed tragic, and Pedro's sacrifice was a major turning point in her life. It is understandable that she would feel a sense of loss and injustice, especially since her enemy is still alive. However, I would also argue that Carrot's backstory does not need to be "in real time" for her to be affected by it. Even if it happened in the past, it can still have a profound impact on her present and future. The loss of Pedro is something that she will always carry with her, and it is something that will continue to shape her as a person. I believe that Carrot is a strong and resilient character, and I am confident that she will be able to overcome the challenges that she has faced. Pedro's sacrifice was not in vain, and Carrot will continue to honor his memory by living her life to the fullest.
@orlandop4815 That's true for every "princess" style character. Vivi will probably full on join cause she technically already is a strawhat and with the way the timeleine and events are playing out rn she's inbound for the strawhats. Rebecca, Carrot, momo/hiyori are way better used as allys to show up later.
I’m still giving Hope for carrots to appear in the next few chapters of this year of the rabbit. Then I’ll give up when the year is done if she doesn’t show up. She was always my top candidate ever since Zou. She literally fits all the boxes, and the tragic backstory was easily replaced with Pedro‘s sacrifice. For her to become t leader of Zou didn’t make sense to me based on how Oda writes. If she was worthy to be the leader she would’ve have beaten pero
@@brandonedwright being an Okama is enough I guess. Rev Army has Ivankov but can't remember seeing a pirate crew (aside Bon's) having an Okama with them.
Of all the characters, Smoker joining straw hats doesn't seem to be likely, would be more fitting if he joined the revs imo. And don't forget to consider Bonney.
That's actually a really good point! I could see him becoming disillusioned with the marines after a lot of the stuff he's been through, but I doubt he'd really be interested in being a pirate, let alone the stuff surrounding Joyboy
He makes no sense on this list, he was never invited to join by Luffy, he never traveled with the crew or was an ally, and most important, he never shown any interest.
Honestly, the rest of the SWORDS needs to join Revolutionary Army tbh. As they take down the WG and Celestial Dragons and become the new and better government than the current one
It's crazy Yamato an Carrot didn't join the crew but I had to remind myself Pre timeskip is Luffy building his crew and family. Post time skip Luffy is building his empire and army of different nations with commanders that will follow an aid Luffy when he needs them. Like Rebecca,Carrot,Yamato, The Grand Fleet and then Katakuri as conqurer rivals.
@@cs_kevin Katakuri and Luffy have a special bond and promise to fight again one day when there will be nothing or no one to interrupt them. Mind you with recency bias people always scale newer villains stronger than old Villains when Big Mom an Kaidos crews respectively are extremely even I can't put King or Katakuri above each other since Katakuris battle vs Luffy was so Dominant an King fought a Drugged up Minority hunter Zoro. Katakuri has the experience all the forms of Haki and a insane devil fruit that he could be written as the next Kaido an I wouldn't bat an eye at it. Just Imagine if the Big mom pirates were also at Oni Gashima King technically screwed their chances to win.
@@defianthound407 I agree that King and Katakuri should be relative to each other. Which is why Luffy is far too strong for Katakuri ATM, he haki bloomed against Kaido (the "strongest creature in the world") and Katakuri is as far as we've seen, still the same as in WCI. He doesn't possess the same will as Luffy either. He just wanted to see Big Mom succeed, then he doubted that idea when Luffy showed up and now Big Mom is probably dead. I don't see Katakuri playing any major role in the story anymore.
I kind of wished Perona joined as the scout/spy. I know she doesn't really fit the requirements but after being sent by Kuma to Mihawk's island, meeting up with Zoro in the aftermath of the Saobody arc after he got sent there too and helping him get back to the Straw Hats as well as helping them escape, I thought she could develop the other requirements for joining as they went along. Maybe we might've gotten a tragic backstory for her later to explain why she joined Moria's crew in the first place.
Perona's powers would have been very helpful to spy and take down a lot of strong willed, powerful characters. Plus, we need another lady in the crew, too much of a sausagefest as of now
At the moment Bonney also fullfills all criteria. Bonney could be the Cabin Girl of the ship. I really hope she will become part of the crew, cause Jesus that backstory of hers and Kumas hits hard.
I agree, that Bonney could join the Straw Hat Pirates as their cabin girl. She has the necessary skills and experience, and her backstory makes her a compelling character. Additionally, she has a strong connection to Luffy and the crew, which would make her a fitting addition to the group. Bonney's Devil Fruit ability to manipulate age would be a valuable asset to the Straw Hats. She could use it to age up her enemies, making them easier to defeat, or age down her allies, giving them a temporary power boost. Additionally, her ability would allow her to provide medical assistance to the crew, as she could heal injuries by aging them back to a healthier state. Bonney's backstory is also very interesting and tragic. She was orphaned at a young age and raised by Bartholomew Kuma, a cyborg who was once a powerful pirate. Kuma's life was ruined by the World Government, and Bonney has sworn revenge on them. This backstory would make her a sympathetic character and give her a strong motivation to join the Straw Hats and help them fight against the World Government. I agree that it would be great to see Bonney join the Straw Hat Pirates. She is a well-developed character with a lot of potential, and her addition to the crew would make the series even more exciting.
Johnny and Yosaku knew if they joined the crew it would be too easy. They chose to stay back and defend Cocoyashi Village, using their power for a better cause 13:45 something to note here is not only was he bullied, but when he retaliated, one of his siblings, someone he held closer to him than anybody else, was permanently scarred as revenge. Katakuri's backstory is better stated as having the power to defend himself, but needing to hide who he was and isolate himself out of fear for his siblings safety
I also thought Johnny and Yosaku would be great. Not in maybe a battle-ready sense, but as deckhands and I could easily see a recurring ship-babysitting gag where something goes wrong with the ship and it's their fault/negligence. But mainly that they're there to just run the ship or pick up the crew at the last minute. Also they seem like reckless and fun partiers which is always good one piece vibe. In lieu of them, I can only think the Sunny will pick up a cabin boy/girl soon, like Roger's ship did, because that seems like the last step to round out the ship "Family" that seems to happen in late stage crews. But damn I would have loved a couple of jokesters with no battle acumen for comedic asides.
@@TrytheGreenOne I think it’d be funnier if they were the ones who were in charge of facing most of the fodder. Like in Enies Lobby they’d take the lead vs the Marines to let the other straw hats rest a bit after their battles vs CP9
Katakuri is an evil dude who kills people just because they see his ¨true¨ ugly form while eating. He'd never fit the SH and I don't know why was he even mentioned
I wouldnt put it past oda to have a twist like kaido tagging along. Kaido was so far gone because he believed HIS worldview was the only way, but luffys will shook that world. He could easily turn around and begrudgingly join the strawhats because he sees the vision in luffy lol
During Skypeia i kinda hoped Wyper would join the crew. He had the backstory, he had a character arc when he almost killed himself to destory the beanstalk, he was similar level to Zoro, and would introduce another race. Only thing he lacked was the motive - there was no real reason to join
he could have had a Brook like dream. Brook wants to reunite with Laboon. Wyper could want to meet Cricket. But they would have to sail around the world for them to reach cricket again. It could work, and I liked him. he would fit well I think.
That would epic and they are both super strong so it would be crazy, especially with the animation quality of the newer episodes (or it could just be super goofy)
I think Oda didn't want to just limit Luffy's attacks to just elastic/stretchy attacks because it's more like a cartoon-y Popeye the sailorman type action that Luffy has now
No, he's an evil creep who kills random people just because they see him eating in his true, ugly form. He's even worse than Caesar. It's dumb to even consider a psycho like him in the crew
I think Kat is too loyal to his mother to ever join Luffy crew, perhaps if Big Mom dies, not by Luffy would he at least lead the Big Mom crew as Luffy allied and not an actual crewmate Also I would think Kuzan would betray Blackbeard and join Luffy crew officially(Without ever betraying Luffy) before Kat joined
I also always felt her connection to Pedro was supposed to be "her dream". Like Pedro died and missed his chance to join a pirate crew, a death that was really her only defining character trait in Wano, and joining the crew wouldn't be necessarily her dream, but fulfilling Pedro's dream on his behalf sorta thing. He even had a whole thing where he said "everyone's get their turn". Also like Yamaoto she had a "join the crew moment" in Zou, where she asked Luffy if she could join and he never responded one way or another, and that was before Pedro's death. So while she's still my #1 pick for the 11th straw-hat, given how dirty she was done in Wano and how out of left field Yamaoto is introduce (don't get me wrong, GREAT INTRO, but there was zero foreshadow to it) I sorta get the vibe Carrot had be originally slotted to be 11th straw hat and for whatever reason Oda changed his mind. It would explain why her fall off is so damn steep to the point that in Wano Oda gave her big revenge fight/peek character moment up to a different and I would argue a more minor character in Cat Viper. I still want Carrot at my #11, but I'm definitely not confident in it enough to put money on it.
@@lisershe would cry and accuse Perospero for Pedro 's death, while Perospero was defending his homeland and his family' s interests. She lied to everyone. It was clever of Oda at least to not have anyone of the Strawhats accuse Perospero for Pedro 's death. Because they are cool, while she is just way too incompetent
Bon Clay has the obvious role of Spy for the crew, and i can see that having been useful in many situations. Cant say for certain if he had much of a goal tho
As someone who has just finished the Alabasta, I literally teared up when Vivi decided to stay behind. She got along so well with literally everybody, everyone loved her, and I just felt like seeing another female candidate joining the crew. Perfect candidate to join the crew and I'd put her number 1, but I haven't even seen Yamato yet so maybe I'll change my mind.
Smoker is an interesting choice because I love seeing his story run parallel to Luffy’s as he gets stronger and stronger as the arcs go on. Him, Kuzan, and Garp being admirals if the marines ever reformed would make the One Piece world a better place.
I'm sure Gin, Nojiko, Johnny and Yusako are also anticipated to join back then. 10:39 I lowkey agree to this I mean I read that one fanfic where Paulie joins a crew of the OC and it was hilarious.
I've only thought of vivi, carrot and yamato possibly joining the strawhats. the rest on this list hasn't once crossed my mind as actual potential crewmates, only temporarily sailing with the strawhats at most.
Seeing as how dangerous the Rocks Pirates were, and the theory that Dragon might actually be Rocks son adopted by Garp. I'm half expecting for Dragon to remake the Rocks Pirates with Yamato, Katakuri, and Weevil, the kids of the former Emperors that all need to prove that their different from their parents. They all also don't like or trust the WG and would be a great way to join their lands plus give the RA a stronger hold on the world against the WG by helping skyrocket Dragon to near Emperor status
nah bon clay NEEDS to join the sh, i'd love to see the final arc coming soon, and luffy remembering about bon clay and raiding impel down but this time with the gang (im pretty sure he thinks bon clay is dead but maybe something drags him back to impel down)
Bon Clay could be a spy espionage and disguise is his specialty making information gathering and deception easier he was decently strong and definitely had potential to be on Zoro or Sanji’s level if he also learnt Haki he’s a Mad Lad Giga Chad who definitely deserves a spot
I miss Carrot as the lookout and she is the character I am the most dissappointed did not join the crew. I really like her personality and how she interacts with the rest of the crew
I think in-universe and with fans, Vivi is already considered a Strawhat. She's nakama. Carrot and Yamato were slip-ups in writing by Oda I think. Yamato was clearly positioned to join the crew (with even Luffy saying so) but I think Oda realized the character was too OP for Egghead Island. Yamato is as strong (or more) than Zoro and Sanji, and will probably be needed at the last battle at Raftel. Carrot had a major role in Whole Cake Island but disappeared in Wano. I think Oda realized fans were expecting her to be the next Straw Hat but he didn't want that and so wrote her out as quickly as he could. Oda's writing of Carrot's exit is some of his worst. She didn't even say goodbye to Chopper. That said she clearly has the elements of a Strawhat: a) her role is the Lookout -something she was already doing b)she clearly is friends with everyone on the crew c)her backstory of seeing her mentor Pedro being killed, him giving his ideals to her, and her being elected ruler of the Minks against her will at a young age and d) she does have a dream: to see the world outside Zou - one of the reasons she stowed away on the Sunny.
Couldn't agree more with the points you gave about carrot and I never wanted to Carrot to join, but even I can't deny all the evidence, hints there was given regarding carrot joining.
5:00 Nami is the Straw Hats log book keeper she surveys each Island she’s been to and keeps a record of things that have happened in a filler episodes but my head canon is she cared about Zeff’s log book so she probably has her own like the filler
2:37 to be fair, both Robin and Franky were former enemies who proved to be useful after pledging loyalty to Luffy. There's no reason to think that caribou wouldn't be the same way after already having directly helped him multiple times. Especially since he has nowhere else to go since his brother and his entire crew are most likely killed while traveling to Fishman Island. However, you are totally right in the fact that he would have no purpose to serve within the crew, except for as a stealth vehicle. but Franky already has vehicles covered.
nami does the logbook we know this because brook read it and they dedicated an entire episode to flashbacks and brook saying he read it while they slept and learned all their backstories
Fun fact, Oda has confirmed that the plan was to Yamato become a Strawhat, but he changed it cuz it's already hard to write in things for everyone in the crew to do (that's one of the reasons why we almost always get the crew split in groups), so it would have made it worse to have to give more space to someone
Man. This sucks. Yamato is the only one that makes zero sense for not joining. Most of the characters on the list have a leadership role which will bring them back into the story. Each relevant to the different factions of the world. Yamato has zero reasons to not join the crew. There is no role in Wano. All the scabbards are there together. Momo needs to be there. Yamato is just lounging around. Oda not being able to write a new permanent member is understandable. There is always a temporary member with the crew at all times on every island. That character has to be written into the crew dynamics for that arc.
I understand why Yamato didn’t join the Straw Hats straight away but it’s still sad. I personally believe 100% that Yamato and Vivi will join before Luffy gets the One Piece since they’ve both been acknowledged by the entire crew already. Luffy also told them that if they ever wanted on the Marry/Sunny that there’s a seat waiting for them both 😁
Honestly given Vivi's history & her circumstances at the Reverie, I more see Vivi possibly joining the Revolutionary Army; if not, she does need to return home as now that her father is gone, her dream rises again as her homeland needs her protective guidance. Alabasta needs their Princess (I guess now I mean their Queen) now more than ever!!!!!
@@IdiotNoAlbeit is the idea of going into hiding with Morgans is the safest & best option? I figured if it's with the revolutionaries and their many bases, she would be safer
@@IdiotNoShe doesn't have a role and she isn't adequately strong enough to survive on the crew. She would be a hindrance at this point unless she gets a significant power boost
It'd make sense if Yamato is following along with Oden's story. Im guessing we can see Yamato coming back during the Celestial Dragon war arc and then becoming the log keeper for the trip towards One piece. Or maybe both Momo and Yamato coming. Yamato basically being a bodyguard for Momo.
I would say that Carrot should be higher, possibly even first place. Her tragic backstory happened in real time, being watching Pedro, who was her personal mentor, die right in front of her for her sake. Her dream was inherited from Pedro, to bring about the dawn of the world. It’s somewhat vague what that is, but obviously it involves Luffy causing a great change in the world, so sailing with him just makes sense. And of course her role would be lookout or scout or something. Plus as a bonus she has a unique fighting style among the crew.
With regard to Vivi, given that she's now a fugitive and her father was murdered, Alabasta is in danger all over again, so her dream of saving her kingdom isn't so accomplished after all. The only question is, has she upped her fighting ability enough to participate in New World battles? If not, she'll probably just be a temporary companion against rather than a full crew member. Though there is of course the speculation that Kuma will fully die in the Egghead arc and put the Paw-Paw Fruit back into circulation. Combined with the blatant implication that Nefertari D. Lili was the previous user of that fruit (how else would she have spread the Poneglyphs around the world in the brief time after she left Mary Geoise?), it'd kind of fit for Vivi to eat it and gain her ancestor's power.
I really hope the crew meet her & possibly wapol in Elbaf. That would be a perfect place for her to rejoin. I've seen a few articles about her rejoining, but I don't know yet.
Carrot at #5!!! I mean she should have been top 3 at the very least!! I feel like we brush past the fact that during Zou she asked Luffy if she could join and he never answered. That is just a massive loose end that was never tied up, so either Oda just changed his mind hoping we'd all forget OR that still has to be paid off. But in response to the three things 1) She did lose Pedro on Whole Cake and was part of the Jack Massacre. Also we actually know very little about her past, some additional tragedy could be there lurking. 2) Dream: I also always felt her connection to Pedro was supposed to be "her dream". 3) Role: Lookout, which this video points out and feels like a pretty obvious role that still needs to be filled.
Having Cricket be just the logbook keeper ignores the fact that up until Franky and Jinbe joined up, Cricket would have been able to pull double-duty as both a shipwright, and as a diver/salvager for the crew.
No love for bonney? She fits all 3 of the criteria. Tragic back story? Easily one of the most. Has a dream? Yes. She wants to follow nika and be a pirate and since luffy is nika.. Job on the sunney? Apprentice, just like buggy and shanks were with roger
Bonney fits perfectly now cause the Strawhats are a diverse crew. Bonney has Celestial Dragon blood and having her on the crew would make it a more complete crew. Fishman, Swordsman born from Wano, a Prince, a former slave/thief, an Ohara, an undead skeleton from an age before Roger, a ruthless gang leader, a simple normal human, an animal/mink and The Sungod himself.
My thoughts exactly, I haven't seen anyone that would make sense for me to join the crew since Franky honestly (even after Jinbe joined I still had my doubts. Not anymore but still). I think it makes sense (I guess I'm a little biased since I wanted her to join before the time-skip, I don't know why, just a hunch) especially with the backstory we're getting, I think her dream might be to sail with NIKA. (Kuma influences) and it's Luffy! Spoiler: And now that her crew is dead or gone I guess, and I think VP would probably die (I could see him sacrificing himself for Bonney) at the end of the arc or MIA, she would be left alone, thus it makes perfect sense she joins.I also believe it's time for a female character to join, to bring some balance to the crew, she would fit in perfectly with them all, God I truly hope she does eventually join!
@@amanikahouach5966 And now with all these backstories, Bonney would want to join under the leadership of her father's hero. And I can imagine that when Kuma dies and Luffy looks at him as Nika, he promises him that he will protect his daughter since the Strawhats owe Kuma a huge debt for protecting their ship. It would be extremely dumb for Bonney to not want to join Luffy at this point.
@XxRombusterxX My only concern is Bonney's age, but she already has an established experience, but again the last Manga chapter has me is doubt, so fingers crossed truly 🫡🫡🫡
A logbook keeper is like a story teller, i feel like ussop is better off with that role, the fact he hasnt wrote any of it down just means he's definitely gonna embellish it quite alot
@@claimingagate True and he is one of the first members too, someone like Brook would only use hearsay for anything before his own arrival which would make the story unreliable while Usopp just missed Luffy and Zoro's encounter + first fight with Baggy (and the entire Marineford saga but that's the entire crew)
I'd have loved Pudding to join tbh. Someone needs to keep sanji under thumb, and having a desert chef on board would've been a treat for all. Also Law, Chopper might fill the role of doctor but Law is a surgeon with a tragic backstory Then there's Hachi, Perona, Bellamy and Bartolomeo
Haha Chopper is the GP/pharmacist and Law is the specialist/surgeon- both quite different roles for sure even if they are both in the medical field. They could certainly learn from each other.
Conis from skypiea, she spent countless years on the edge of skypiea sending people to their death too fearful to oppose Enel. Maybe have it so before she found out her father was alive she decided to go with the Straw Hats and then became conflicted when he returned only for him to send her off so she could travel the world. She absolutely got some self defense training given how she carried around a Flame-Dial Bazooka, make it so she took her fathers mechancal skills into weaponry, maybe a little White Berret training and we have a Gunner who can talk shop with Usopp and Franky. Not only that but a dial based arsenal would be cool to see explored.
Damn man. I miss Pedro. But in all seriousness, I truly believe the final straw hat is vivi coming back to the crew. The setup is there, and what better way to protect her and have world notoriety than to have the leader of a nation on your ship. And one more thing, wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of these characters like Katakuri and Smoker being allies for the final war.
I would also say Bonney is a pretty solid candidate for crewmate, very tragic backstory, former (?) captain with a really powerful devil fruit that's good for infiltration, and has the goal of saving Kuma or taking revenge from the world government
I was hoping so badly that either Yamato or Carrot would end up on the crew. Both of them had amazing chemistry with the straw hats, amazing interactions, and both really wanted to go out to sea. Especially Yamato who had spent his entire life trapped in Wano with explosive handcuffs, choosing not to go with the straw hats felt so odd to me. That and his devil fruit was so cool yet we only got to see it a few times. As for carrot I feel she fits amazingly with the common straw hat troupe of having a trump card with side effects lmao
You actually left out something important, namely the method of joining and amount East Blue and Grand Line had 4 members joining each, so if pattern repeats there are 3 left in the New World East Blue had everyone join during first encounter (Zoro, Nami, Usopp & Sanji) Grand Line had everyone join after their island/location/arc was "completed" (Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brooke) New World now has someone initially rejecting the invite because they have something they need to take care of first and joining later (Jimbei) So Yamato and Vivi would both be perfect fits if that pattern repeats since both were invited to join and wanted to join but both had something else they need to take care of first Yamato effectively said she'll join them later and Vivi is basically on the run from the WG now, so its not like she can return home anymore, making this the perfect moment to join and have the new goal to find out the truth about her heritage (which actually ties nicely with Robin since they're basically after the same thing, the truth about the void century).
I agree with you and with Vegapunk you would have 4 Crew Members for the New World or doesnt Vega Punk join Luffy anymore? I am relativ sure Yamato joins them soonner or later, because her character arc has yet to be resolved and she pretty much got set up to be a straw hat. Like many people suspect Carrot hopefully does not join the Crew. She is more or less the leader of the Minks and will fit in to the story like this later.
@@Leon玲央 Vegapunk will never be allowed to join the strawhats, Oda doesn’t like smart characters being in a place where Luffy can just ask them questions and be answered
I always felt that Crocodile would be a strong fit for a Straw Hat; Particularly, after Impel Down and Marineford. We don't really know that much about his backstory, but it has been hinted at. He saved the lives of luffy & ace multiple times when he really could have just left He'd have a unique fighting style on the crew. And for a role, he could be quartermaster
These possibilities are great. But, we all know and must also remember that Luffy wanted (at most) 10 members and difference between mugiwara allies vs. Crewmates. Crewmates, regardless of dynamic, (must) obey the captain. 2. Older seadogs like Marco and Katukuri, they've been there done that so no real need to join. Jimbei Vivi was a tear jerker but, like kinemon and momo, their journey's had a main goal/end point: return to and liberate homeland. Yamato now. . . .*sighs*. The only fitting reasons I lean on (for not being a memeber) are 1. Storywise, way to many powerhouses that will shift attention away from originals Zoro and. Sanji *this applies to some of the other potentials). Finally 2. Wano needs heavy protection. The akazaya seven are no doubt strong but not Yamato/"admiral level"* strong. It'll some time before Momo can master his abilities, therefore, Yamato could assist.
I have to disagree since Jinbe, NOT JIMBE still hasnt made his end goal yet since he still wants his people to make peace to humans by having his people to breath the same air as humans.
At least though that Oda has confirmed that Yamato "still intends to join the Straw Hats in the future," so she's indeed definitely in a Jinbe situation. Although it would have been nice to have Yamato join earlier; especially since we're in the Final Arc, so having the final last 10th Straw Hat join sooner would've been good to cement the whole complete crew just before the endgames cometh. The only way that Yamato can is if someone took her place to guard Wano. IF ONLY IZOU SURVIVED THE WAR!!!!!!!! A Whitebeard commander would make a perfect protector of Wano just like what Marco is doing!!!! The next best person I could think of would be Drake (Yamato & Hyogoro could vouch for him & since he's a SWORD member (meaning that they're like a splinter cell-blackops capacity), he can be dispatched anywhere) - Plus, it would be such a cool dynamic addition to have in the crew a Female Powerhouse Frontrunner that could go along on the same strength level with the Pirate King's Wings + Warlord that would lead the charge with them behind Luffy
17:43 He’s pretty stern and badass but let’s remember that once scene in the anime where he was a W mans and gave a little kid a whole new ice cream cone after they crashed it into his pants. Dudes a W.
My personal favorite pick is smoker and it’s not even close Smoker was one of the very first people luffy went up against and unlike other people from the east blue like Arlong and don krieg, he’s actually still around(I’m talking about people luffy battled, not people like Koby or the other members of the straw hats.), and smoker needs a W for once, he deserves it. It also doesn’t help that smoker has one of my favorite quotes in fictional history “Sorry, it looks like my pants ate your ice cream” -smoker
We also tend to look past the fact, Smoker was one of the first people to absolutely body Luffy, not just once, but twice. Back. To. Back. To me, Smoker has an almost Guts-like fighting spirit.
For Carrot, I'm hoping that she pulled the same stunt she did on Zou and has stowed away on the Sunny as it left Wano. If we see confirmation one way or the other, then fair enough, she'll probably be an ally of the Grand Fleet. For Yamato, I'm putting her in what I call the 'Waiting Room', since she's basically pulled a Jinbe. She outright says that she'll join up eventually, she just wants to explore a bit of Wano first.
The Real Reason she stayed in Wano was to help Momo protect it from outside threats, exploring Wano was a random execuse she told Momo so she doesn't make Momo feel like he held her back from joining, since the country is weak to external attacks for a decent bit of time.
Luffy and Vivi have few things in common 1) They complete honest leader 2) They Completely fearless leader 3) they loyal to they friend and family 4) they love adventure 5) they both have Will D in their middle in name 6) They despise celestial dragon For try to attempt to enslave their friend 7)They both lost their family members (Ace and Cobra) to world government 8) they have both have frenmise (Luffy and buggy) (Vivi and Wapol) 9) They both Target by Imu for some reason Imu want to capture Vivi alive 10) Luffy and Vivi have huge role in world Luffy is the new Joyboy Vivi is Descend of Nefertari D Lily 11) they listen to each other, like when Vivi got gunshot. Luffy got angry, and Vivi stopped and him, reminding him of his responsibility as leader Luffy understood what Vivi said and Luffy point out that Vivi need stop take All responsibility by herself alone and let her friends help Share the responsibility with her friends that created Strong deep bond between Luffy and Vivi 12) They care about each other so much when Vivi gone missing Luffy about to go back Alabasta Despite very close to reach his dream also when Vivi Chose the stay behind she was crying and Hope that one they will meet again
What did you guys think Bonney? She is now with a straw hat. 1) Since she has probably the most tragic Backstory. 2) Her dream(and Kuma's too) is being Liberated by SunGod Nika.
You forgot the most important person who could join papagu the starfish He would be there merchandising/ PR rep selling stylish straw hat gear to the world
I feel like we arent going to get another member, but I think we are going to get multiple instead. Something big is about to happen. and in the end I bet Luffy will say something during the war like "we all are strawhats" and fight the big bad.
In all honesty, when I started one piece Carrot was with the crew during thay time. So I was incredibly confused why I didn't see any mentions of her being in anything official. I thought she died and accidentally spoiled myself, turns out she never actually joined I trolled myself
I think and additional rule would be that you can't be stronger then the members of the monster trio. Luffy is the protagonist so the plot has to move based on him. Additionally if someone to strong joins it basically removes all consequences which isn't even what Luffy wants. Luffy want the adventure and danger is a part of that . Jimbie didn't join until the trio passed him in strength and the same would go for anyone else that to OP.
I totally agree since Carrot defeated Luffy by biting him on the shoulder, which is also why she cant join regards of losing Pedro, since she needs to be weaker than Luffy and had to lose someone dear to her IN THE PAST BEFORE MEETING Luffy's crew.
Bartelomio is also a perfect fit as he is powerful and have a barrier fruit, he might not have a tragic backstory but we all love him and wanted to join straw hats......
Caribou's power as a storage is actually insane, I would not be surprise if in the final war they use him to infiltrate with a lot of people inside him
I wouldn't mind seeing Momo and Yamato together. I think they make an excellent power couple and they can definitely ensure the safety of Wano as a team and think of the children they'd have mixing Odin and kaido's bloodline got to produce a ridiculously strong child
two of the roles in the thumbnail are 100% filled by nami and zoro. That being said. The actual logbook is Sabo. I also think Sabo may actually be the narrator. At the very least we already know that his dream is to write a book about all the adventures some day. I am pretty sure we are currently reading that book.
actually, i wanted Boa to join the Straw Hats because she was also a warlord and The straw hats would have 2 ex warlords in the crew and Boa would have been really helpful in fights and the relationshipe between luffy and boa would be really interesting to watch during adventures
Caesar deserves a much higher spot. He's been with the crew longer than anyone else mentioned except Kinemon who is badly needed by Momo, a child leader of Wano. He's been around from Punk Hazard, to Dresrosa, to Zou, to WCI. He surely have done awful things but the list of benefits the SHP can get from having Gastino on the ship outweighs the benefits they can get from having most of those on the list.
After jinbe, i cant really imagine a new straw hat member. Because whenever a new character appear (eg carrot, yamato etc), i only think of them as straw hat ally instead of a new member
Yama-Bro will miraculously show up with a few Samurai in the end game of the series. He’ll probably help out in a fight that’s holding someone back when they are needed elsewhere
btw let's say this what if koby's dream is to become a pirate because his father was one so when alvida kidnaps koby he would become a actual pirate and appreciate alvida but then realize alvida is a typical pirate and decides to still be a crewmate but when luffy comes, koby would begin having hope and realizing that luffy wants to be a pirate king and now let's just say everything plays out the same but in all the arcs up to drum island koby is useless in battle and koby would feel useless until ussop crafts him a weapon but unlike nami, koby won't stick to that weapon forever but let's talk about interactions nami would be friendly to koby but won't be too friendly (unlike with kid momo where she was blindly kind to momo) luffy would be super friendly to koby because he his first mate. zoro would be friendly but still just a sleeper person. ussop would try to be a role model for koby. sanji would appreciate the kid. robin won't mind koby (as her second son lmao) franky would be a rad person to koby let's talk in marineford ace would still die only this time koby doesn't get beaten up by luffy, second instead of jimbei helping luffy's mentality it would be koby ,due to knowing luffy the most. and in impel down, koby won't be in there because he would be scared as fuck and later on when before the time skip rayleigh offers koby to train under him along with luffy and koby happily accepts and from this onwards koby would be on his level in the original anime
I would argue with Carrot that her tragic backstory was in real time, basically Pedro sacrificing himself and his enemy still being alive after his sacrifice.
I agree
Carrot has a role to fill as leader of the minks and will be there for the final war
1090+ chapters and our man Bon Clay did more things to help Luffy than Dragon.
I think I would argue that he would have a role on the crew as well, as an infiltrator/spy
@@brandonedwright being an Okama is enough I guess.

After without Dragon Luffy and straw hat would just be in prison in loguetown
Of all the characters, Smoker joining straw hats doesn't seem to be likely, would be more fitting if he joined the revs imo. And don't forget to consider Bonney.
That's actually a really good point! I could see him becoming disillusioned with the marines after a lot of the stuff he's been through, but I doubt he'd really be interested in being a pirate, let alone the stuff surrounding Joyboy
Probably will considering the major changes going on in the Marines. Smoker might not like the changes and defect
I believe Smoker will become either an Admiral or the next Fleet Admiral when the war is over.
@@cs_kevin Katakuri and Luffy have a special bond and promise to fight again one day when there will be nothing or no one to interrupt them. @@defianthound407 I agree that King and Katakuri should be relative to each other. He doesn't possess the same will as Luffy either. He just wanted to see Big Mom succeed, then he doubted that idea when Luffy showed up and now Big Mom is probably dead. I don't see Katakuri playing any major role in the story anymore.
Nah, post time skip Luffy is building his Harem. Pirate king needs to secure his bloodline 😂
@@defianthound407 nah Zoro had that extra racism boost while fighting King
Yeah she is also a potential candidate to join the cre for sure
who is a cabin girl?
She is a well-developed character with a lot of potential, and her addition to the crew would make the series even more exciting.
she wont
From supernova captain of her own crew to a mere cabin girl. Well, then again, in future Pirate kings crew even Katakuri would be just a cabin boy.
Johnny and Yosaku knew if they joined the crew it would be too easy. They chose to stay back and defend Cocoyashi Village, using their power for a better cause
13:45 something to note here is not only was he bullied, but when he retaliated, one of his siblings, someone he held closer to him than anybody else, was permanently scarred as revenge. Katakuri's backstory is better stated as having the power to defend himself, but needing to hide who he was and isolate himself out of fear for his siblings safety
Glad I'm not the only one who thought about Johnny and Yosaku when watching this video.

Wiper has a duty to lead his people, even if he was invited to the crew he wouldn't have joined
I would have loved it if Katakuri joined the crew if only to see him and Luffy pull off some badass tag-team stretchy combo attacks
I think Kat is too loyal to his mother to ever join Luffy crew, perhaps if Big Mom dies, not by Luffy would he at least lead the Big Mom crew as Luffy allied and not an actual crewmate
Also I would think Kuzan would betray Blackbeard and join Luffy crew officially(Without ever betraying Luffy) before Kat joined
Fr
Carrot did lose a lot of friends when Kaido attacked their city. She also wanted to go on an adventure so she felt like a perfect fit.
I agree
I also always felt her connection to Pedro was supposed to be "her dream". Like Pedro died and missed his chance to join a pirate crew, a death that was really her only defining character trait in Wano, and joining the crew wouldn't be necessarily her dream, but fulfilling Pedro's dream on his behalf sorta thing. He even had a whole thing where he said "everyone's get their turn".
Also like Yamaoto she had a "join the crew moment" in Zou, where she asked Luffy if she could join and he never responded one way or another, and that was before Pedro's death.
So while she's still my #1 pick for the 11th straw-hat, given how dirty she was done in Wano and how out of left field Yamaoto is introduce (don't get me wrong, GREAT INTRO, but there was zero foreshadow to it)
I sorta get the vibe Carrot had be originally slotted to be 11th straw hat and for whatever reason Oda changed his mind.
That said she clearly has the elements of a Strawhat: a) her role is the Lookout -something she was already doing b)she clearly is friends with everyone on the crew c)her backstory of seeing her mentor Pedro being killed, him giving his ideals to her, and her being elected ruler of the Minks against her will at a young age and d) she does have a dream: to see the world outside Zou - one of the reasons she stowed away on the Sunny.
right?? I can understand Yamato in a way, but what happened to Carrot is so questionable.
Couldn't agree more with the points you gave about carrot and I never wanted to Carrot to join, but even I can't deny all the evidence, hints there was given regarding carrot joining.

2:37 to be fair, both Robin and Franky were former enemies who proved to be useful after pledging loyalty to Luffy. There's no reason to think that caribou wouldn't be the same way after already having directly helped him multiple times.

Honestly given Vivi's history & her circumstances at the Reverie, I more see Vivi possibly joining the Revolutionary Army; if not, she does need to return home as now that her father is gone, her dream rises again as her homeland needs her protective guidance. I really hope the crew meet her & possibly wapol in Elbaf. That would be a perfect place for her to rejoin. I've seen a few articles about her rejoining, but I don't know yet.
It would be a riot if Vivi gets any kind of devil fruit
Carrot at #5!!! I mean she should have been top 3 at the very least!!
I feel like we brush past the fact that during Zou she asked Luffy if she could join and he never answered. That is just a massive loose end that was never tied up, so either Oda just changed his mind hoping we'd all forget OR that still has to be paid off. But in response to the three things
1) She did lose Pedro on Whole Cake and was part of the Jack Massacre. Also we actually know very little about her past, some additional tragedy could be there lurking.
2) Dream: I also always felt her connection to Pedro was supposed to be "her dream". Like Pedro died and missed his chance to join a pirate crew, a death that was really her only defining character trait in Wano, and joining the crew wouldn't be necessarily her dream, but fulfilling Pedro's dream on his behalf sorta thing. 3) Role: Lookout, which this video points out and feels like a pretty obvious role that still needs to be filled.
13:28 "Chopper as emergency food" got me 🤣🤣🤣
Having Cricket be just the logbook keeper ignores the fact that up until Franky and Jinbe joined up, Cricket would have been able to pull double-duty as both a shipwright, and as a diver/salvager for the crew.
Out of all of those, the only one I was surprised for not joining was Vivi, I was hoping she would when I watched Alabasta Arc over 10 years ago.

Spoiler:
And now that her crew is dead or gone I guess, and I think VP would probably die (I could see him sacrificing himself for Bonney) at the end of the arc or MIA, she would be left alone, thus it makes perfect sense she joins.I also believe it's time for a female character to join, to bring some balance to the crew, she would fit in perfectly with them all, God I truly hope she does eventually join!
@@amanikahouach5966 And now with all these backstories, Bonney would want to join under the leadership of her father's hero. @@raiden2901 furry = bad lgbtq=bad idk why i have to explain obivious

Saying Marco does not have a tragic backstory is wild, dude lost his whole family and crew in Marineford
You actually left out something important, namely the method of joining and amount
East Blue and Grand Line had 4 members joining each, so if pattern repeats there are 3 left in the New World
East Blue had everyone join during first encounter (Zoro, Nami, Usopp & Sanji)
Grand Line had everyone join after their island/location/arc was "completed" (Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brooke)
New World now has someone initially rejecting the invite because they have something they need to take care of first and joining later (Jimbei)
So Yamato and Vivi would both be perfect fits if that pattern repeats since both were invited to join and wanted to join but both had something else they need to take care of first
Yamato effectively said she'll join them later and Vivi is basically on the run from the WG now, so its not like she can return home anymore, making this the perfect moment to join and have the new goal to find out the truth about her heritage (which actually ties nicely with Robin since they're basically after the same thing, the truth about the void century).
He saved the lives of luffy & ace multiple times when he really could have just left
He'd have a unique fighting style on the crew. And for a role, he could be quartermaster
also the croco-mom theory, a mother traveling with her son
@@SkyGodCheesey That too 😅😅
Between him, Robin, bon clay, and vivi, the straw hats would basically be recreating baroque works lol
@@eggward7203yeah, and if Croc joins Daz Bonez will probably follow too lol

Bon Chan deserves this the most
At least though that Oda has confirmed that Yamato "still intends to join the Straw Hats in the future," so she's indeed definitely in a Jinbe situation.
Yamato will join the straw hats in the future 100%

Each straw hat doesn't have to have a tragic back story
Being a one of Big Mom’s kids should be a tragic backstory in itself
Bonney right now is fitting perfectly backstory and her dream she’s like a little sister of the crew 😘
Carrot’s tragic backstory is watching Pedro die & her dream was to see the world.
What if… It would be such a huge crew! Amazing video. Thank you Manu
They'd need a bigger boat lol. Imagine Katakuri on the thousand sunny . Where would he sleep?

I’m still bitter about Carrot! She was the first one since Vivi that I really really wanted to join. Also a female pirate more would have help tbh.
Godness, the production quality of your content is through the roof!

He’s pretty stern and badass but let’s remember that once scene in the anime where he was a W mans and gave a little kid a whole new ice cream cone after they crashed it into his pants. Dudes a W.
They don’t need chopper as there emergency food at 13:31 finally
My personal favorite pick is smoker and it’s not even close
Smoker was one of the very first people luffy went up against and unlike other people from the east blue like Arlong and don krieg, he’s actually still around(I’m talking about people luffy battled, not people like Koby or the other members of the straw hats.), and smoker needs a W for once, he deserves it.
It also doesn’t help that smoker has one of my favorite quotes in fictional history
“Sorry, it looks like my pants ate your ice cream” -smoker
We also tend to look past the fact, Smoker was one of the first people to absolutely body Luffy, not just once, but twice. Back. To. Back.
To me, Smoker has an almost Guts-like fighting spirit.
@@rawrshacktsu8623that’s a good way to put it
For Carrot, I'm hoping that she pulled the same stunt she did on Zou and has stowed away on the Sunny as it left Wano.
The Real Reason she stayed in Wano was to help Momo protect it from outside threats, exploring Wano was a random execuse she told Momo so she doesn't make Momo feel like he held her back from joining, since the country is weak to external attacks for a decent bit of time.
its not about pickling the best powerhouses, its about the amount of respect and loyalty someone has to eachother
Bon clay really does deserve to be a straw hat.
I think pedro's death can be considered as a tragic backstory for carrot
Luffy and Vivi have few things in common
1) They complete honest leader
2) They Completely fearless leader
3) they loyal to they friend and family
4) they love adventure
5) they both have Will D in their middle in name
6) They despise celestial dragon For try to attempt to enslave their friend
7)They both lost their family members (Ace and Cobra) to world government
8) they have both have frenmise (Luffy and buggy) (Vivi and Wapol)
9) They both Target by Imu for some reason Imu want to capture Vivi alive
10) Luffy and Vivi have huge role in world Luffy is the new Joyboy Vivi is Descend of Nefertari D Lily
11) they listen to each other, like when Vivi got gunshot. Luffy got angry, and Vivi stopped and him, reminding him of his responsibility as leader Luffy understood what Vivi said and Luffy point out that Vivi need stop take All responsibility by herself alone and let her friends help Share the responsibility with her friends that created Strong deep bond between Luffy and Vivi
12) They care about each other so much when Vivi gone missing Luffy about to go back Alabasta Despite very close to reach his dream also when Vivi Chose the stay behind she was crying and Hope that one they will meet again
They also have something uncommon VIVI is a empty character she adds nothing to the show as in entertainment and uniqueness.
What did you guys think Bonney? She is now with a straw hat.
1) Since she has probably the most tragic Backstory.
2) Her dream(and Kuma's too) is being Liberated by SunGod Nika.
she will be part of rev army
Surprised you didn't even mention Pekoms, he was on my hopeful list for a while. Still would like to see it tbh...
You forgot the most important person who could join papagu the starfish
He would be there merchandising/ PR rep selling stylish straw hat gear to the world
I feel like we arent going to get another member, but I think we are going to get multiple instead. Something big is about to happen. and in the end I bet Luffy will say something during the war like "we all are strawhats" and fight the big bad.
In all honesty, when I started one piece Carrot was with the crew during thay time. So I was incredibly confused why I didn't see any mentions of her being in anything official. I thought she died and accidentally spoiled myself, turns out she never actually joined
I trolled myself
This is probably why Yamato is sidelined for now.
I’ve always kinda wondered if sniper king will ever join the crew, seemed like such a great guy
Whitebeard death and wiped out crew is actually a tragic story
I would love to see Marco or momonusuke as a crewmeber of the strawhats🤩 But also what about law. He has saved and helped the strawhats so many times🔥
Wyper joining the crew after Skypiea would have been badass.
Pretty sure everyone considers Vivi a member of the crew it’s only a matter of time before we see her again.
Video idea: What if Luffy ate his crew’s Devil Fruits
Vivi is a Straw Hat. She might not be with them for the moment, but she is a member of the crew.

he's already part of the grandfleet, so..
kuzan's role on the ship would be [HUMAN] FRIDGE!!!🤣😂🤣😂

@@resantel wat that mean???🤔
Caribou's power as a storage is actually insane, I would not be surprise if in the final war they use him to infiltrate with a lot of people inside him
Maybe I'm wrong, but I swear Luffy allowed him to be part of the crew as the "barrel filler".
I wouldn't mind seeing Momo and Yamato together. I think they make an excellent power couple and they can definitely ensure the safety of Wano as a team and think of the children they'd have mixing Odin and kaido's bloodline got to produce a ridiculously strong child
Bon clay or vivi?
Bon clay of course vivi is already part of the crew
Carrot should have been part of the straw hats she had such a good dynamic with everyone and was always down to throw down
i wanted vivi to join because that means karoo would stay around. i love karoo
I would love to see King joining the crew
two of the roles in the thumbnail are 100% filled by nami and zoro. That being said. The actual logbook is Sabo. I also think Sabo may actually be the narrator. At the very least we already know that his dream is to write a book about all the adventures some day. I am pretty sure we are currently reading that book.
That would be a pretty good twist, I like that. Or it could also be adult Usopp telling the stories or Brook by the end of the series
@@pandanganmatiyn1487 I am not sure who would be reading it, but for sure sabo wrote the book about their adventures
actually, i wanted Boa to join the Straw Hats because she was also a warlord and The straw hats would have 2 ex warlords in the crew and Boa would have been really helpful in fights and the relationshipe between luffy and boa would be really interesting to watch during adventures
Albeit the discord Boa would cause if very transparent of how it'll turn out consistently
so u want Robin and Nami to DIE ? :)
Boa seem the VERY VERY JEALOUS type to me :)
not to mention how she react when Nami will start beating Luffy :)
Tragic backstory? luffy just had shanks lose an arm. then he immediately carried on with his life.

Sabos fake death need i say more
@@justsomeguy137 yeah but they carried on pretty quickly
Yamato pretty much in Jimbeis old role. She'll join the crew at a later date, after she knows Wano will be fine without her.
Sogeking not being here is a tragic tale
He’ll probably help out in a fight that’s holding someone back when they are needed elsewhere
btw let's say this what if
koby's dream is to become a pirate because his father was one
so when alvida kidnaps koby he would become a actual pirate and appreciate alvida but then realize alvida is a typical pirate and decides to still be a crewmate but when luffy comes, koby would begin having hope and realizing that luffy wants to be a pirate king and now let's just say everything plays out the same but in all the arcs up to drum island koby is useless in battle and koby would feel useless until ussop crafts him a weapon but unlike nami, koby won't stick to that weapon forever but let's talk about interactions
nami would be friendly to koby but won't be too friendly (unlike with kid momo where she was blindly kind to momo)
luffy would be super friendly to koby because he his first mate.
zoro would be friendly but still just a sleeper person.
ussop would try to be a role model for koby.
sanji would appreciate the kid.
robin won't mind koby (as her second son lmao)
franky would be a rad person to koby
let's talk
in marineford ace would still die only this time koby doesn't get beaten up by luffy, second instead of jimbei helping luffy's mentality it would be koby ,due to knowing luffy the most.
and in impel down, koby won't be in there because he would be scared as fuck
and later on when before the time skip rayleigh offers koby to train under him along with luffy and koby happily accepts
and from this onwards koby would be on his level in the original anime
Straw Hats Do Have A Log Book Which Was Kept Written By Nami. We Know Of This Since Brook Refferenced It.
