My creativity, and flexibility with cooking really improved a few years ago when I had to rely on a foodbank . You never knew what you would get because they had fresh, packaged, and refrigerated as well as a few frozen items. However, they always had large # of families, and singles to feed. Not knowing what ingredients you would have to work with made menu making impossible but it was the best lesson. It taught me to be inventive creating new recipes, and extremely frugal as I learned to stretch those ingredients. I will always be grateful to those who donated and now I am able to be the one who helps. :)
Usually Market Basket has the reduced meats on top of the fresher meats so people pick them up faster. Stop & Shop and Shaws are the same way. Depending on how busy the store is you may have to go right when the store opens to get some of deals because they're scooped up fast.
The aged kerrygold cheddar is our favorite too. Last week i made the mexican rice it was a huge hit. Can't wait to make some of these recipes from this video

Just a quick question here. My partner and I don't care for cilantro. We are unfortunately some that taste soap and metal. What would you use instead? I've heard coriander is part of the same plant, so could ground coriander work or just parsley for the color pop? Thank you. Thank you for sharing as well.
You can speed up your caramelization of your onions by chopping your onions and tossing them with a bit of oil in a bowl and sticking them in your microwave for about 6 minutes stir them up and do another two minutes and then throw them in the frying pan.
The Walmart in my small town has a little section near the yogurt and milk section that has reduced bread/cinnamon rolls/etc. they are marked down super cheap and they expire the same day but I like to freeze them. That’s the way to do it for sure! We also have a “go grocery” outlet where I live and we can get foods reduced very cheap. You have to check the dates but since we got a deep freezer it’s been a lifesaver and a big money saver! 🎉
A patty melt around here you have to have a patty melt sauce, have you ever tried it? It's so GOOD. Sometimes I don't have time to cook down the onions and used french fried onions ;) I'm also surprise at your clearances. I have never seen anything like you got on clearance other than breads/bakery items.
