- If you own a Chinese laser cutter this little series of videos about me learning how to use the free software provided, may solve the problem of trying to learn from a virtually unreadable manual.
I am nothing to do with RD Works, I am not an instructor and I am no expert. This series will document the essential bits of many hours of trial and error

Russ, Brilliant! Reminds me of a project I did on a packaging line to keep hearing aid batteries from jamming aka bridging on a conveyor line. I used a wheel riding in the conveyor belt to operated a crank connected to a "fishtail" within the lane to break up the clusters. no air, no electrical, just simple.

Thanks for this great video, Russ. I just downloaded your file with part list from RDWorkslab forum and it will be a joy to make this rotary system. It looks cool. I do have an 'original' chunk rotary that I bought with my machine but until now never used it. Yours look much easier to operate. :)

I am lucky to have a shop fit and signage business near me that has several cnc routers and two laser machines. One of those lasers is a 1600x1000 Redsail clone with a 150 watt EFR tube. Several months ago, the ONLY guy that knew how to use it left. Ooops that was good planning??? Through various contacts they approached me as some one who knew about Chinese laser machines to see if I could help get it back to work for them. It's a work in progress because it's a Leetro control system operating through LaserCut 5.3. All new to me and with some very weird operating characteristics which I am still trying to sort out. This "consultancy" is not for money, instead I collect a car full of acrylic and PETg off-cuts and chunks from their scrap bin at each visit. A kid set free in a sweet shop does not come near to explaining the experience. They are throwing hundreds of pounds worth of material away and I get the benefit whilst expanding my experience with another machines and furthermore, enjoying myself. Yep, I'm one lucky guy.....and all because of a cheap crappy Chinese laser machine I bought two years ago.

You tube is clever at preventing email addresses so we have to be a bit smarter than the algorithm.. add your email nto a senence like this.
Start with john and add a dot followed by smith. After an at symbol add gmail and then a dot followed by com
This has always worked.

Hello, I have a question which I can not find the answer anywhere to. I have Gweike laser, but basically a whatever Chinese machine. I bought a chuck rotary axis for it from Cloudray, but I guess that also does not matter. The machine has RDC6442S-B(EC) controller and X/Y 3DM580 motor drivers. I am using RDworks on windows. My idea was, that I buy an extra 3DM580 motor driver and connect it to the RDC6442S-B(EC) controller U axis connector and then I don't have to rewire the machine for a Y-axis connector what I disconnect and connect the rotary axis. I connected everything, and from RDWorks I can test and move the U axis, the rotary head spins, and I still have the x and y-axis...but that is it. There is no way to tell RDworks that a job is only a rotary job. Is there a solution for this? Thank you for your answer! All the best, Zoltan

What you are trying to do is a great idea BUT it will not work because the software does not support your idea.. You have not wasted your money and it WILL work but with a different approach.
The software ALWAYS uses the Y axis to INCREMENT after each X axis scan line. The software has no knowledge that your image is going onto a round object. It thinks it is a normal FLAT XY scanned image. Thus you cannot use the Z or U axis for rotary work as you imagined..
I presume your GWeike machine already has a Z axis which is why you plan to use U. . You already have the U axis driver working BUT it needs to be driven by the Y axis.
Imagine your controller at the bottom of a capital T. You need your Y axis driver at one end of the top of the T and your U axis driver at the other end.. At the T junction you need to install a 2 pole changeover switch to direct the Y output from the controller ( terminals 1 and 2)) to either the Y or the U diver.. In that way you can go to the vendor settings and have a dedicated step interval for your U axis rotary that will rotate exactly 360 degrees. Once this has been set you will only have to select rotary in the software and define the diameter you want your image transferred to.

For sme reason the previus links are now dead but if you can send me your email I'll get them to you. TH-cam does not allow email addresses anddit has algoritms to detect them. However there are many ways to fool this automatic system. Here is an exampleal way . Just include it coded into a normal sentence like this. I am off to see Hassan and Dotty Tak74 at the big G company next week. It will make no sense to an algorithm but humans can easily work it out.
Is there a download of the design that is shown in the video? The link to the files is from Cesar's video, but doesn't match what you are showing in this video.

I downloaded the dxf file but it is coming out really small in corel draw. how do I know how large to resize it?

It is drawn in mm and usually people import with inch settings and the drawing appears to be 25.4 times too big. Unless your import units are picas ,pixels or points, I can't hinkof another reason. I usually add at least ONE dimension in the drawing that allows you to reset the scale factor. Import the DXF file directly to RDWorks and it should be correct if you have RDWorks set to MM import .

What size bed is this designed to be cut on
It fits comfortably onto my 500x300 China blue machine although the travel will be limited to about 150mm

I like your video and content, but it took you 35 minutes to explain that device. I end up skipping 25 minutes in your video video to see the final device.
I did purposely stage it like a detective story. If you want to build one then you will need to see the stuff in between, but if you want to know who the murderer was then you did the right thing to jump to the last page.
