    The square stitching on the Go Ruck is called "molle webbing" and is for attaching molle pouches and accessories to the bag. It's not exactly a durability feature. But they do protect the bag from scrapes and cuts.

    Useful video! I had it down to four of these. Went with the Aer. Like the Goruck but the price...and I have had backpanels like the one on the Goruck and they feel uncomfortably warm quickly.

    My main criticism is that all of these backpacks are pretty heavy. Everyone talks about how all of these backpacks are good for carry on and even some are good for under-seat, but weight requirements are important and back fatigue is also a thing.
    I'm in the USA and they don't exactly do a lot of weight measuring, but I know it's much more common in Asia and Europe. An Aer TP3 is straight up 4.5lb (2kg) and honestly that's getting to bit a bit much. I have some Aer products and honestly they are over engineered to a fault.

      I travel with my Aer travel pack 3, and honestly start feeling my shoulders fatigue about 25 min of carrying it. Love the pockets but your right about the weight..

    • @goingtobed
      @goingtobed 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Absolutely. That's why I keep buying travel bags, but return to my simple kankens. A giant box with the lowest weight I've seen (outside of hiking packs that stand out in the city). I dont need my bag to be "bomb proof." I need it to be lightweight and comfortable as I run across the airport or tram station

      very true. light weight and durability need to take a balance, still finding my 'perfect' backpack haha. had a look on the matador seg line, quite light weight but some issues on other features as well

      Agree. These are terrific bags if protection of sensitive technology is paramount. But if you are traveling for fun, ditch the laptop and get a simple bag for half the weight and a fraction of the cost.

    Between the Minaal 3.0 and the GORUCK GR2, which one would you prefer more for frequent one-bag travel on airplanes? Also may I ask what water bottle you are using in the video?

    • @HesNotHuman
      @HesNotHuman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I settled on GR2 few years back after deciding to move away from roller bags. I like the hands-free, mobility nature of this style travel bag. I really like the way GR2 opens up--like a lidded box. It has 2 separate internal sections, lots of internal pockets and it's build tough. I feel that it's your heaviest option (my guess), looks like Minaal would be your lighter option but cant pack a lot in it and if your items are not in a cube it falls out all over. The GR2 does have more of a military vibe, so that's not for everyone.
      I can't tell you how great that hidden back compartment is. Also, I get to use GR2 on walks with an inserted 20lb steel plate for exercise. Don't think the other options would stand up to that kind of durability.

    Like your vid, but it has the same fault of a lot of videos like this...all of these options are terribly expensive IMO, in these times, more than $80-100 is a lot to spend, when you get an ebags bag for less money. My ebags bags look ok (in black, a bit better than Tom Bihn 'dad bags'...) and were less than $100. are they elite, hell no? do they have almost all of the features of these bags for less money? yes yes yes. the extra $100 is well spent on...anything else! Unless you're traveling A LOT, there's not much difference, ebags stuff lasts plenty of years for plenty of people.
