I went for the 2CD stereo (not 5.1) remix by Stephen W. Taylor and I think it's phenomenal. You get the full soundstage in all its glory. As I haven't been wedded to the original mix for the last 50 years and am not familiar with every nook and cranny of every second, I found it a revelation rather than a shock. Apart from the one other comment on here about it, which is negative, I've only heard praise for it, so would wholeheartedly recommend it.
Saw them Friday at the RAH, were awesome! Ordered the box set today. Was going to wait for the price to come down, but this seems to be really well received and is seemingly selling out quick, so not going to miss the boat! Am sitting, waiting for the Days of the Underground box to come down in price though, as that looks good too, but there does seem to still be a few of them around.
I have another version of Space Ritual on coloured vinyl. Sides 1 and 2 on 2 discs in BLU E vinyl, and Sides 3 and 4 on 2 Discs on Yellow vinyl . 4 discs with 2 covers. Odd !
@@suffolkaudiophileHi, they are still on Discogs - they are on the Back on Black label, and 2011 pressings. Hawkwind-Space-Ritual-Vol1/release/3065442 / Hawkwind-Space-Ritual-Vol2/release/3487326 It is an official pressing, but very limited.
Sadly I no longer buy new vinyl as most of it it is just digtal tracks put onto vinyl and not true analogue, also most new vinyl I have bought has been scratched in some way, so I will be buying the CD/DVD deluxe edition.
yes modern vinyl uses music created on a DAW so your right it's not got that warm bottom end that inch and a half tape had , total con really the price difference between cd and vinyl !
In all honesty.. I think the vinyl edition is a remaster and not actually remixed .. the 2 cd set and the 10 cd box contain the remix .. shame really.. That’s a nice vinyl though..
@@suffolkaudiophile I’m hoping for a rsd release of the remix … by all accounts it’s very good … Would like to know what you think between this and your aaa copy .. which I also have and like very much..
Of the 11disc box set the standout for me is the Sunderland gig. I'm hoping it gets a vinyl release for RSD. Also as i write you can still get all versions, the 11 disc box, 2cd, clear vinyl and splatter vinyl from Rough Trade.
Sorry to be a nay-sayer, but I call shenanigans on the all new "re-mix". The near perfection of the re-mastered version ( Discs 1 + 2 ) , be it CD of DVD-A ( The Special Edition ) , has been ruined. How can you better perfection ? Dave has been turned up to the point of saturation and over-load from the right channel, Nik has been pushed forward, which is very very good, but where on Ert is Lemmy ??? The prime example is the Canned Heat - Fried Hockey Boogie bass solo on Orgone Accumulator. It is turned down so low as to be almost meaningless. Lemmy makes a gaff at 7.05 in, which Vic ( ? ) somehow managed to piece back together on the re-mastered version, but it is interesting to hear on the all new re-mix where the gaff is left in the mix, is all that can be said. The re-mix is interesting for some new sounds bought to the fore, sometimes way way too much " Listen to this folks, I have the sliders to do it ", but overall it is annoying, and you just want "the original" back for the super twangy bass strings and warm familiarity. Toooo much Dave, not enough Lemmy. The shining star of the set is the Sunderland Locarno show, packed full of bloopers and little bass drum, but that just adds to it all ! It is truly amazing, and can be compared to the BBC Radio 1 1972 show in many ways. I can't understand why Upside Down is missing from the Brixton show, it is my fave song ??? Feel free to disagree....
Great reply, and thankfully i haven't got the remix... The vinyl version is just a remaster.. look out for my comparison with an all analogue reissue from a few years back.

Been there too (what a night!) and done that too afterwards 😉☺
Barney's artwork for this album is awesome.

That'll be a bootleg... Unofficial release. Doesn't even appear on Discogs.

I think you're right.... Which makes no sense seeing as they remixed it for 5.1
