  • Dundunay is a rare native bird with dark brown specks in its predominantly light brown feathers. It is used in this song as a metaphor of an unfaithful lover who has found a new object of interest. I got the lyrics from Yuhum Negrense and Enrique Cantel Cainglet's "Hispanic Influences on the West Visayan Folk Song Tradition of the Philippines" for both English and Hiligaynon. I do not own the image used nor the song, credits to the most rightful owners. I made a mistake about the spelling of 'gintalikdan' and 'guintalikdan'. Actually, there is no problem with that because 'gin' is more common used today and 'guin' is a much deeper spelling, either way they mean the same and I just wanted to clarify. Thanks for watching!
