@@McTrottis Even on Sirius Radio with the station Octane, the music selection may be newer rock, but it’s very narrow in scope. 90% of the music is Linkin Park knock offs. Bands like Alter Bridge, Greta Van Fleet, or Nightwish get no playtime.
its really easy to understand. all radio is owned by the same 2-3 corporations and they killed off rock in the states a decade ago or more because radio is literally payola for bands to be heard. they peddle one goal, make money, not promote art. that went hand in hand with the fall of the music industry (caused by everyone who stopped buying albums), which hasnt been able to survive afterwards, which has then made it impossible for big bands, who have lots of gear, to tour and make any money. then with venues taking cuts from band merch, along with shitty label greed, bands now are left with almost nothing. now that both revenue streams are gone because everyone devalued songs to be free, and touring is too expensive, bands are left with no outs. because we demand instant gratification, songs are now devalued so much that we expect them for free. this killed recording studios, record stores, and more venues. combine that with the stupidity of american culture and how EVERYTHING has to be a meme or a joke, no one takes "real bands" seriously anymore. they do overseas, but not in the US. culture overseas values more of an educated perspective and standards for art and talent, rather than just pumped out fake garbage like we get here. and finally, without a "home" for music culture to grow within (MTV or VH1)- there is no way for music to live in pop culture. all we see now are stupid 20 second tiktok songs that were built to be a viral marketing gimmick for a week. rock is dead in the US. until americans get standards and start craving substance, rather than mindless pop culture garbage, "real bands" will never thrive. thats why mark says how hard it is to gain a foothold here, but overseas its much different.

Nicely done - fun interview! Exactly same happened to me, as the interviewer. I never heard of these guys - maybe just in passing after Creed broke up, and some stuff about Tremonti being a better guitar player than people realized…. Wasn’t on radio generally… No promotions anywhere.. but, after hearing and loving Myles Kennedy’s work with Slash - I looked up his other work (Solo, M4 and AlterBridge). Wow! Just a wealth of great music! Especially AlterBridge, where you get Myles and Marks voices and guitars together for simple heavy melodic rock perfection!💪🎸 Favorite band!
@@csi2448I have. I like that too, but it’s missing something very important when I listen…Myles Kennedy! Both of them together are greater than the sum of their parts…and those ‘parts’ are better than 90 percent of everything else as it is!

@@semtexhighlights6361 Well to be fair the sound wasn't great which isn't their fault. I just find it really generic "rock" music, very safe, radio friendly and commercial sounding. Sounds like Christian rock. To each their own I suppose but I've had girlfriends that are into them and I just don't get it at all.
I’ve seen them several times over the years, including at Royal Albert Hall with an orchestra, which ranks as my #1 concert of all time; and I’ve gone to dozens and dozens over my 69 years., and still going. Give a listen to the studio recordings, especially the 7-9 minute musical journey pieces that are not usually played at concerts, especially festival events. They are magnificent. IMO, I’ve heard very little in modern rock that compares to the musicianship and songwriting of this band. They arguably have the best rock singer and guitar player currently on the planet. To your point, the worst Alter Bridge concert I ever witnessed was at a festival as well.
@@Monkeypoleif there’s one thing that I’ve never thought about alter bridge is that they’re a safe radio band… The one exception for me is, holiday from the new album.
I just don’t understand why rock radio in the US does not play Alter Bridge…IMO the best rock band of the 21st century.
I quit listening to local rock radio cause all they play is classic rock. You have to have a satellite subscription to hear modern bands. It sucks.

I’ve heard Silver Tongue on Octane a couple of times. But nowhere near what they should be getting.

Fm radio is terrible now days. I'm glad I have satellite radio so I can hear a lot of my favorite bands.
Love that Mark did the Sinatra album, just shows the talent this guy has!
Saw AB and mammoth in SLC in March... Unbelievable... AB is so polished live, it was incredible. Amazing show.
Yes, I saw them for the first time last year in Poland. I was just blown away how well prepared they were for the show. It was amazing.
I love how Europe embraces the American bands. So cool!!! Thank you for all the interviews.
this band should be much bigger than they are in the States
Yesss!!! Please come back to SouthAmerica!!! We are waiting for youuu!!! Long live AB!!!!! Great interview!

AB has been my favorite band since 2004. By far and away the best band that's out there today.
😊Myles must be resting his voice ,not being at the interview. Love AB and looks like, they are having fun oversees .
