Personal rating + reasoning (Code: Mitsubishi: M; Hitachi: H; Toshiba: T; Toyo Denki: D) 207-900 All company GTO: 5*. When accelerating, it sounds like Tokyu 9000 H GTO; and when decelerating, I can tell it has almost all unique sounds from each company and it's just one of its kind. Not to mention it's JNR's only original VVVF 209 M GTO: 5*. I love how it kept "changing gear" when accelerating and decelerating and reminded me of Taipei C301's Westinghouse GTO. I'm also impressed of how JR East managed to keep the motor at 95kW per motor while also keeping the MT ratio quite low and still manage to be as powerful as the JNR trains at higher power and MT ratio. The sound makes me feel like the train is struggling yet there was no problem at all even at crush load. Also, music to my ears 209 M IGBT: 2*. As much as JR East kept almost everything the same like GTO except it's IGBT, the sound is not as good in my opinion. Sure, the newer the equipment, the longer the train last, but it's just a copycat of E233's M IGBT and I just don't find it as amazing, although it's not as bad as to giving it one star lol. Extra star to -500 on Keiyo and Musashino Lines and -3500 on Hachiko Line with the original brake release system 209 T GTO: 5*. Same as M GTO, but it's Toshiba. But the best thing about it is the deceleration that sounds similar to JR West 681 which, instead of traditional deceleration where it stays synchronized, it will switch back to asynchronized, almost completely mirror the acceleration 701 M PTr: 4*. Once again, same as 209 M GTO. But the downside is that the deceleration sound is non-existence 701 M IGBT: 2*. Copy-paste from E721 E217 M GTO: 4*. Same reason to 209, but the fact it has even lower MT ratio and gear ratio than 209 means turtle speed acceleration, and it just makes me feel like it is yelling "HELP! I DON'T HAVE POWER!!!" E217 M IGBT: 2*. Same as 209 M IGBT. At least it sounds closer to E233 M IGBT with the same gear ratio, but still screams no power E501 Siemens GTO: 5++*. Keikyu N1000 and 2100. That's it E501 T IGBT: 3*. I honestly wish its GTO would stay longer. At least it sounds similar to WMATA 7000 series E127 D GTO: 5*. Like any typical D GTO, nothing special except music to my ears E127 D IGBT: 4*. Normally I do not like identical motors to current fleet (with this, E129) after refurbishment, but this reminds me of MTR K-train which I used to ride all the time (which reminds me of home [Hong Kong]) E231-900 H IGBT: 4*. H IGBT is famous of dropping down or going slightly up before going up rapidly (usually at 700 hz asynchronous), but no drop down or slight up is also somewhat unique as it starts from the original async (which, if I recall correctly, only Kintetsu 21 series H IGBT do the same. Correct me if I'm wrong) E231 M IGBT original: 5*. Arguably the best IGBT sound in Japan. Even better when the deceleration is full electrical braking found on later subseries. The ones on -900, however, is not as favorable as I just find it weird but still stays at 4* E231 M IGBT refurbished: 3*. Same as 209 IGBT, but the async range is wider and sounds more powerful. It's also the best way to identify which one is 209 and which one is E231 just by listening E231 H IGBT original: 5*. Mentioned on the -900, the drop down is the unique thing for early H IGBT. But the range on the drop down on E231 is absolutely breathtaking. It also sound like decelerating when its accelerating and vice versa E231 H IGBT refurbished: 3*. Almost identical to E233 H IGBT, but I like how in deceleration the async is reducing continually 205 D IGBT: 3*. Nothing special on this, just a normal Toyo IGBT E531/E233 H IGBT/EV-E801: 3*. Same as E231 H IGBT E233 M IGBT: 3*. Normal M IGBT, but sounds quite natural E721 M IGBT: 2*. I prefer a lower sound for the later IGBT like E233, so this higher pitch doesn't really get me as excited E331 T IGBT: 1*. Sounds very boring and I could barely hear it unless up close EV-E301 M IGBT: 3*. Sounds similar to Toei 6500 SiC. Definitely having the futuristic sound E129 D IGBT: 4*. Like E127 IGBT, reminds me of home E235 M SiC: 5*. Absolutely love the futuristic sound and makes me feel like I'm in 2030 lol E235 T SiC: 4*. Sounds futuristic like M SiC, but it's closer to IGBT (granted, it is SiC-IGBT hybrid) E131 H SiC: 4* Also sounds futuristic, and I like the drop down at the end of deceleration That's it for here.

12:47 sounds like the keikyu 1000
