Oh the things mothers do for their sons! I have this playing on mute while I go about my household chores. Whether I’ll manage the whole 3.5 hours remains to be seen!
this was amazingly soothing. also gives me the itch to tinker. i might recommend chapter markers for each one, if for nothing else a quick way to rewatch certain build/portion of build, or find out the specific video to search for for a more detailed look.
This video totally inspired me to finish my trials build, helped me stop sweating the small things. Thanks bro. All your tips and tricks are on point. I’m now riding a 1998 stumpjumper trials specs. My next task is building a wheel, I plan on having your videos guid me along the way
I watched the first hour then let the rest play out its great seeing the progression and I enjoy seeing the appreciation of retro bike stuff. Zt first I actually thought it was a super build 20 something bikes in one day type of thing
Word of advice, when building a bike with a carbon steerer tube you should leave enough room for a spacer on top of the stem, otherwise the stem clamps unevenly and will cause cracking and other problems
Giant is my favourite build. My first mtb was a Giant boulder team with the team colours that i turned into a trialsish bike with a massive aluminium bash guard and a DCD oh how i love that crappy bike that some **** stole (recently)
@@theez_po yeah totally, that’s what I do with my back brake and you’ll see lots of slopestyle riders have a really long rear hose wrapped around the headset to allow for multiple spins. With a cable you’ll get slightly more friction but use decent outer cable and it’ll be ok
Thanks for the video 😊 I have an old GT Avalanche frame that I'm fixing up for my son. I am wondering where you got the proper deraillior hanger from, since mine is missing. Cheers

Hi @Ali_Clarkson I am looking for a very strong and reliable hub with heavy duty pawls and ratchets or an alternative strong system. I know that you ride the Hope Pro 4 a lot. Now, I don't know whether you're sponsored by Hope (I believe not?) but in that case I'd understand that you may not be able to answer the following question: can you recommend these (or the Pro 5) to someone who rides a lot of street, dirt jumps, some trials and has gone through two cheaper hubs in the last 6 months? Many thanks in advance!
Hiya! So I have used the Pro 4 a lot in the past, they’re decent hubs…fairly reliable (but not indestructible) at the penalty of extra weight and not a huge amount of engagement points. I’ve not personally tried the Pro 5 but from seeing other riders use them I can’t really recommend them for trials use, the engagements are higher but seem pretty unreliable. If you’re on a budget I’d definitely advise looking for a used Pro 4, you’re never going to get anything better for the price they are going for.
@@Wannaridebikes thanks! I’m on the mend but the nerves in my leg are still going mad, feels like broken glass whenever my clothing rubs my skin, I’m hoping by the end of next week I’ll be back to normal
Fascinating to watch a master builder when I wake up in the middle of the night and my TV is on. 😊🚴❤
three and a half hours of bike building videos with Ali talking is just the thing I need . Love watching these while getting work done on my own bikes

@@Ali_ClarksonYes, it played all the way through! Do I get a gold star?

Sorry to hear about the shingles. Get well soon!
Thank you!

That last one was definitely the finest 🤌
I do hope the old cute thief is doing well. It was good to see him again.
Hope your well
Getting there thanks!
I love retro trials builds! Thank you for this!
I am amazed you like the Avid SD7 for trials application Ali! I have always found that adjustable fiddly bit to flex way too much for lockups.

This is like the gallery in Trashzen. The evolution of the trials bike.
Lovely video mate! You should make a compilation with bails!
Thank you, I think that video would end up about ten hours long haha 😂
the norco is like the retroversion of a trials jumper
Great video dude
Thank you but there’s no way you’ve watched it all yet 😂
@@Ali_Clarkson im still watching its a live comment
I want to comment as it going lol but cant give spoilers haha but you forgot summat

No way I’m leaving an ugly spacer on top of my stem if I can help it! 🫣

Nice project 👍
I can replicate decals if required, specific or pure custom, alternatively masking decals for spraying 😎
Tan for sure!
Is tan Scottish?
It's a GT triple triangle u can see the three triangles on it.

Hello Ali, is it possible to do barspins on mechanical disk brakes on both sides?
Yeah absolutely, either just use long cables or thread the front cable through the steerer and use a gyro for the rear
@@Ali_Clarkson long for back ones will work right?
