Margaret was gorgeous both on the show and in real life. A perfectly matched cast for her role, they all looked good and wonderful, but my favorite is Vanessa, the best character.
I love the princess Margret eps. She was an enigma for duty and miserable, but she did know how to live and love. Plus her taste in fashion and men was impressive. My fav episode is her wedding and breakup.
She could have married him but probably didn't have enough courage to step away from such a gilded existence in the palace. Peter Townsend went on to have an extremely interesting life after leaving the royal household and unlike Margaret, found true love in his second marriage. He didn't like celebrity life so one wonders if, had they married, they wouldn't have drifted apart at some point.
P.S. It's an extremely well done video capturing a woman who had a pretty full life in many ways. Pity she didn't do more with it given all her wealth and privilege.
Margaret had cancer. It doesn't matter who she was married to. And Margaret has always stressed that she was aware of her royal duties. She was a rebel, yes. But she was also a royal and ok with that.

Agree. Although times were different and it was a very difficult situation, also the Queen Mother had a lot to do with it.
