That’s literally the art to singing being 100% connected body and mind any disconnect can be a detriment. When your physical voice changes your mind has to match it in change or your mind will continue to try to emulate what you were previously capable of doing and it will sound off. Its the same with Beyoncé she had to work with her voice becoming more darker So she work with the darker texture instead of trying to sound how she use to which was much lighter.
Yup !! She completely lost her voice at one point and was contemplating retiring but her son wouldn’t let her. She definitely has found her new voice and mastered it

And, other thing that proves my point is that the last note was sang in overtone, and only the whistle u can sing in the overtone, but not a head voice, well not at least that high. I love that Patti chose one of Mariah's oldest songs, one she wrote at such an early stage in her career that announced her as a vocal and songwriting giant. It just shows the absolute timelessness of Mariah's catalogue. Has always been one of my top Mariah songs and I know she doesn't feel too fondly for it, I'm so glad that Patti could give it the Patti treatment and give the song some new life! What a brilliant moment!
