I like the idea of slicing the toggle in half - keeps things simple, clean and doubles the resources.

Another outstanding video Corporal, Thanks. I never thought of things along these lines and learning to produce/re-produce. I can see the necessity of having these skill sets.
I truly appreciate you teaching this ole guy here new skill sets on a regular basis.
    Carry on good man.

As a trucker, i use truckers hitches every day, but ive never used them for guy lines ! What an excellent use of a great knot.

I saw a vid from some German dude that made a toggle for strapping down gear. Pruned a bunch of Crepe Myrtle which will be perfect for making toggles. Going to add this guy tightener to the mix. Thanks for putting out great videos!

Good video, I use to do this on tent set ups. I hadn't thought of it in awhile thanks for the reminder. I have to teach knots to my scouts so I always go to the tautline hitch for this as it is a requirement for them.

  • @davidcooper6704

Good concise instruction. I made my runners using a pice of flat hardwood with 3 holes for that extra grip. The knot was positioned on the reverse to yours. Both methods work equally well. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for this useful video. I can attest to the usefulness of these easy to make "toggles." I even used one made from a yard clipping for a simple, indoor clothes line. Making sure one's knife/multi tool has an awl ensures these can be made easily just about anywhere.

If you go through both holes from the same side it creates a twist in the stick and gives better tension making it more secure in high winds

The diameter of his thumb is approx the diameter of your forearm in case you’re wondering. I’ve got a tipi I put up recently and the guys are supposed to be tied to the tent both ends, different levels to form a triangle to the ground. They’ve supplied a toggle thing on the rope. Only way I can get it to tension is to take two loops from the slip and slide thing

I was just trying to explain to two of my Buddy's how easy it is to take a decent bonewood as I call a peace of wood that size to make a tent tensioner out of and both where confused I even took two washers to try to show them that way and one said that doesn't look normal then I said it's okay because I'm normal👀
So I found your video and put that up on my TV so they would understand if they could just see it with their own eyes and comprehend the basics part of life the old ways in the old days before electricity when the Cowboys roam the land and there was gold in them hills.
PS thanks for help there eyes of Education to my good friends one is an engineer the other a dentist so when I called them both dense I made them understand just because you can read and write does not make you smart lol.
So why I was jabbering with them after your video I knew part of the meaning of dense but I had this feeling there was more to the detail aka definition so I had to read it to both of them, the definition is priceless⤵️.
The definition of dense is people or things which are crowded together, something that is difficult to get through or someone who is slow to understand. ... An example of dense is someone who doesn't understand what "turn left" means.
Believe it or not there's many more that goes to that word even the level of water in the body life is always interesting.
