THINK BEFORE YOU LAUNCH. WATCH, LEARN AND BE SUP SAFE.
Standup Paddleboarding (SUP) is an amazing way to get out on the water and enjoy the great outdoors. It’s easy to learn and can be great fun for all ages and abilities. You don’t need a lot of expensive equipment and you can do it on your own or with others. The simplicity of SUP is what makes it so appealing to many.
But have you considered the potential risks associated with SUP? And do you know how you can help keep yourself and others safe when paddling?

Thank you for this series, I am learning a lot from them. In this video though, I didn't understand the point about quick releases and why you might need to quickly release yourself from your leash/board. Any chance you could explain with another example/scenario? Many thanks

Use a quick release leash or belt in moving water. With moving water, if the leash becomes tangled on an object, submerged or not, you and the board will be continued to be pulled downstream . This can be very dangerous if you fall off as you risk being dragged underwater with the force of the water. With a release belt or leash, you can easily reach the release point on your waist to free yourself from this danger. Hope this makes sense. Thanks. Beau

Hi friend! Great tips! Is it worthy using another leash for holding my paddle?

Sometimes we see people using a leash for the paddle, but not necessary.

Why not a quick release in surf since you say to use in moving water?

Good question, if theres nothing in the water to get a leash stuck around a quick release isn't needed. And also you may find that wearing a leash around your waist does put more strain on your board during fail off in waves. But, in small surf a QR leash can still work fine. Hope this helps? Thanks Reuben
