A more serious technical focus on players and the game is why I subscribed to tennis tribe . I would like to see about the gear for doubles , strings and tensions .
@thetennistribe most mixed doubles are for exhibition and pay , not for atp points . USTA is pushing for mixed doubles with the U.S open . It is an openly female lead and liberal organization here in NY .
It took me a long time to "get" doubles, and now I enjoy it. I think personalities are harder to communicate--people are less expressive when they have a doubles partner, and its harder for most people to see different doubles gameplans than different singles playstyles. I think we need more discussion about how the best doubles teams play the game differently. For example, Granollers/Zeballos thrive on poaching and the shortest possible points and they are very good; why did they struggle this year so much against Purcell/Thompson, who play on the baseline more than any other top doubles team? I think we need more discussion of this type of question to improve fans' doubles literacy, and then people will inherently get more excited about doubles matchups.
John Mcenroe, Navratilova, Shriver, Evert always played doubles because it improved their singles game. Mcenroe always encourages singles players to do so.

Just wish I knew about about the players. Instead of that stupid Netflix show being about top singles players they should have dialed in on doubles or something. That show stunk…
I thought Will was being sarcastic when he told me that some people still serve and volley- didn’t know it was only hovering around 50%

We talk about that a bit on his next podcast, so check that one out
Experimenting with more mixed doubles is a pretty good idea.
Yep. I think we'll definitely see more of it over the next several years :)
Only females wanted mix doubles . Only if your partner is a literal one or wife . There is always a weak link .
@@derekpappas1556 Not sure about that... Most ATP players I interview are a fan of mixed doubles too.

is this the guy who uses the Big Bubba for matches?
Apparently it is the best racquet for doubles
Yes... are you jealous?

The Tours suffer from the lack of long term planning to grow the game.
