A gang member is injured by a child Esper, and will soon awaken the power of an almighty being known as Akira. Akira is a film about nihilism and self-destruction, and a film about Japan's legacy, death and rebirth and how it pertains to the individual.

Akria is some wild shit man. Best anime of all time, and one of the most bizarre but well thought out premises. Truly a master piece. Great analysis, you deserve way more views on this!

Doesn't this movies dystopia feel oddly familiar to the political corruption, hedonism and stagnant industry and manufacturing feel prescient to the present in America.

It does...but I think these are signs and symptoms that lead to dystopia and is an outline of a super power of a country...not that it's prophetic but the traits of history repeating

Great writing! I'd try mixing your voice a little higher than the music next time. It's makes it a little more difficult to listen to since it drowns your narration out at times.
