      Hey, I just turned 30 a few days ago, I was going to make a comment just like this. Thank goodness he sounds young at least haha, if he had been a full-on adult that would have been worse. :P
      That happened to me the other day on a daggerfall video. "This game is ancient, it came out *way* before I was born, heck, it came out before my parents were even married" *checks date it came out: 1996* Oof. :P

    Oh man, I was 15 when I first played Oblivion. Everyone in my year at school was excited for Skyrim and I had never played an Elder Scrolls game before, so I got Oblivion secondhand and fell in love. Of course I was then also excited for Skyrim, and once it came out I quickly became my friend's walking encyclopedia/guide to the game if they ever needed info/help, as I played it far too much. Across all platforms over the years I have amassed over 5,000 hours in Skyrim and a little over 3,500 in Oblivion.

    You make me hope in this way boy, that masterpieces of the past, despite dated gameplay and graphical appearance, can be recovered and enjoyed by new and young players like you. This game is great, immerse yourself in it, lose yourself in it and read every book or little lore description if you want to do that and the game will give you back very strong emotions. I played Oblivion when I was 18 and now I'm 35, my first Elder Scroll and I loved it, I'm really happy that you too can try this experience, especially in anticipation of possible mod(skyblivion) and remake(official bethesda), which could bring back the game in the eyes of the public.. LFG boyyyy!!!

    Love when a new person is trying Oblivion for the first time. It's my favorite game. Always good to hear Sir Patrick Stewart's Emperor again anytime. Hint, Endurance governs your health points. Try to max that attribute out as quickly as you can and you stay ahead of the curve since enemies also skill up in this game. (Endurance's three skills are Armorer, Heavy Armor and Block). You missed the free repair hammer for Armorer in the tutorial. But in the Imperial City's Market District there are barrels and crates all over. They are not stealing and you should find free repair hammers there as well as more lockpicks and ingredients. And many merchants sell repair hammers too.
    Also the Breton and The Mage sign gives you the most powerful character out of the gate. Breton's have 50% chance to resist magic attacks and can make great warriors and thieves as well as mages. But the Khajiit are really the most fun to play especially if you give them a silly voice to use when asking and answering questions aloud. Your Red Guard is good. Far better than a Wood Elf or a Nord or an Imperial or a High Elf for sure.
    Also please keep the subtitles ON. Everybody does no matter now many playthroughs they do and you need to read the strange names carefully. Also it helps your audience follow along here. Also you missed a lot of dialogue without the subtitles on in the tutorial because people were at a distance talking.
    Finally join all the guilds and do all the side quests. You do NOT have to do the main quest right away. Never talk to Martin and you can do everything before even starting the main quest. People will talk of a threat but nothing will happen. You can enjoy Cyrodiil in it's pristine glory that way. And the guild quests are the very best in Oblivion. Especially the Thieves and Dark Brotherhood. Talk to people a lot and you will find lots of side quests too. Also the Arena where you can become a gladiator.

    • @GreekGorilla.
      @GreekGorilla.  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ok, I will turns those on! Investing in endurance is something I am definently going to do now, so thank you for the advice!

    Magic and one hand is brilliant on oblivion. One of the strongest. Have fun with it mate, a few tips if you want them or ignore the rest if you want a pure first playthrough
    The higher your destruction the cheaper the spells cost so you want to enchant gear with fortify skill: destruction until your destruction is 75 and above
    Join the mages guild and you have access to spellmaking. You can make spells with the effects of spells you already know, as long as your skill is high enough to cast them. It'll tell you if your skill is high enough you don't need to learn anything complex
    My favourite way to play as a sword and spell character is to make a weakness to shock and weakness to magic spell. This makes it so your spells do more damage and if you enchant your sword with the same element it'll do more damage too.
    Feather is an alteration spell and your best friend. Gives you more carry weight andakes your equipment not weigh you down so you'll run faster if you recast feather.
    You can stack spell effects but tbh you won't need that until later levels and by then you'll have figured out your preferred way so just have fun with the systems in game

    You have 8 shortcut keys, the numbers 1 through 8. Open your inventory and for example press "3" and select "Minor Heal" in the magic section. Press "4" and select "Flair" there. Now you can just switch magic spells on the fly without opening your Inventory all the time. Same for weapons. Shortcut keys are awesome.
    Gotta mention you should sell stuff to merchants to get gold and lighten your inventory. When you get enough you can buy a house where you can stash extras. The Shack on the Waterfront of the Imperial City is the cheapest but sill cost a few thousand gold so keep selling your loot. Gold also lets you train up to 5 times per level. There are trainers around. The city of Anvil has a good number in the Fighters Guild for beginning warrior skills for example. They will have a Training button when you stop and talk to them. And again please switch the SUBTITLES to on so you can pick up distance talks you missed in the tutorial.
    You missed picking up a free mortar and pestle in the tutorial but you can get them free on shelves and cabinets once you join the Mages Guild. There is a chapter in every town. When you have it you can make potions and sell them for gold as well. It increases your Alchemy skill which increases Intelligence which increased the about of Magicia points you have when you level up. Join the Mages and Fighters Guilds and you have a free place to sleep and can take most items lying around them there without stealing them. Sell them to town merchants and turn the food/ingredients into potions to sell or use.
    And do you have a World Map. You keep using only the Local Map. The World Map is the compass icon, the Local Map's icon you clicked on his right next to it. You can fast travel to any of the main cities using the World Map and other places once you discover them. Go the the Imperial City's Waterfront and read the wanted poster nearby. That unlocks your way to discovering and joining the Thieves Guild. The Imperial City also has teh Arena District where you can sign up to fight in the arena as a gladiator. Listen to conversations between townsfolk and you will stumble into learning how to join the Dark Brotherhood eventually.
    The DLC The Shivering Isles is the best in any game though you may want to wait until later to enter the realm of madness, lol. Take your time. You seem to be enjoying yourself and Oblivion does bring the fun and quirky humor which is part of life in any realm. So take your time and enjoy the journey.
    Sorry for long write-up but I could have used it the first time I played. Ignore any or all of the advice but maybe there were a few good tips without spoiling anything. I envy a new player getting to experience the game for the first time and look forward to yur adventures.

      wow, don't be sorry. thank you for the advice. Also, thank you for telling me how to do things, but not what happens! like how you told me how to join the thieves guild but not what they are like!

      @@GreekGorilla. I just realized that given your lack of money to bribe people into giving your the info, there is an easier way to join the Thieves Guild. Just steal something, anything. Say an apple or a fork in an inn, a whatever in a store, pickpocket a citizen or a guard. A guard comes to arrest you and gives you options. Take the one to go to jail. You get out of the jail by simply sleeping fr as little as an hour. Any stolen items are gone but all your other stuff plus your gold is returned to your inventory so just put you armor back on. A little later a person will arrive with a letter for you. Read it and it tells you where to go and when and you get the info that way for free.
      And no I never want to spoil things by saying like you mentioned what the Thieves Guild is like. I will say however that for me it was my favorite guild. Whether you like it or not will depend on your tastes. Everybody is different. Have fun.

    Turn undead doesn't reanimate corpses. It makes undead (zombies/skeletons) run from you. You can conjure skeletons and other creatures if you want. Also don't jump everywhere unless you have a way to restore fatigue because you won't do as much damage. Don't get me wrong I jump everywhere cause it's fun but it makes fighting harder

    Awesome video, brought back so many memories. Later on if you get into spell making, I have a guide called "Unlimited Powah / Chain Spells" that has a recipe for spells you can cast forever. Hope you enjoy the game, Ive played it for many, many years and still havent finished the main story lol! (Ive watched playthroughs, but personally I get side tracked with so much to do!) There is something special about this game, the soundtrack, and reading the ingame books.

      @@GreekGorilla.You should. It's before games made everything too easy. There are no quest markers. I recommend getting a printed map because the game originally came with a map, and making paper notes on quests and locations.

    I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's my favorite in the series. You should try going and checking out Morrowind too if you haven't. The gameplay might feel rough to you because it does an RNG hit system, rather than the Oblivion/Skyrim sword system, so when you swing you might hit or not depending on your sword stats, but the story is top notch. Same goes for all the old games, but anything from before Morrowind probably would benefit from some mods to make them more playable.
    You might also want to consider looking into the upcoming Mod "SkyBlivion" which is a team which is remaking the Oblivion game in the Skyrim engine. So if you want to explore this place again with updated graphics later, that would also be an excellent option.
    I'm very excited for you though, there's so much fun stuff to do in this game. I recommend the Dark Brotherhood quest-line just FYI, it was weirdly so well written compared to the other guilds.

  • @danielbroome5690
    @danielbroome5690 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

    FYI, when you looked at your map, I think you were looking at the "local" map which does need to be filled in. That's the map you look at inside dungeons etc, which fills in as you explore it. That local map is next to useless out in the main world area.
    The world* map is the one you want to look at, and I'm not sure what keybind you have on that game, but you just need to tab over to it, it's just on a different section of that menu screen (on Xbox it was the shoulder buttons that did that). So the world map will show you all the basic locations, and I'm pretty certain that even from the beginning of the game, you can fast-travel to all the major cities without finding anything on the map.
    But, there are hundreds of minor locations that you can unlock by exploring the world and when you find one, it will be marked on your map so that you can fast travel back to it whenever you want.
