I was stationed in the operating room at USNH Guam when this happened. Everyone in the operating room was called in to treat all the Sailors from this disaster. It was a horrific mass casualty that was handled by our OR staff amazingly. We only had 2 OR rooms so we were performing surgery in open bays in the ICU. This is the first thing I have ever seen documented from that morning. I am proud to have been there to help these Sailors, and I couldn't be more proud of the staff and how well we handled the situation. If it wasn't for our department and hospital's (doctors, corpsman and nurses) quick actions, it could have been much, much worse. It would be amazing to hear from PO1 Lammey and to speak with him and the others whom
    we treated.

The idea to pair up the families is an amazingly good idea!

My brother Eric was first on the scene. I’m a 19 year army combat medic and I couldn’t be more proud of the actions he took. So grateful to watch your story 😢 and so grateful for military medicine.

I was assigned to the frank cable 6 months after the explosion. I only remember 2 that I was told that died. Us new guys were shown where the steam came out of. It’s only now after watching this video how much I realize how bad that explosion was.

Oh my, I’m so sorry this happened to you. I’m impressed with you. I served on the Cable too, 1985-89 and I was injured by a saw, but nothing permanent. I was also there when the Bonefish blew up. That was really unnecessary and tragic. I’m really really glad you survived and you’re doing alright. My time in the service has taught me to be very particular about vehicle and machine maintenance. I wish you the best.

I served on the cable from 2000 to 2003 the main space on that steam ship is a very hazardous place to be. I witness light off very nervous situation when you here the explosion in the boiler to start the steam plant....

Thank you for your funny words as we evac’d you. They shook us out of a daze and back to reality. I am just glad that you survived. Just chuckle about the “scissors”.
