My american friends either dont know how to cook or just don't want to. I'll be hated on a mass level for this but I stand by it hahaha
Four friends and I drove 338 miles to go to In-N-Out Burger and three of us had this same reaction. I think we had built it up in our minds that it was going to be amazing and then it was just okay. Honestly I felt like them, if I hadn't been so hungry by the time we got there I wouldn't have cared it I ate it or not. I'm sure glad I was with friends and we had fun or I would have been really bummed.

You're reactions are spot on. It is overrated and always was. That place is too damn crowded. I suppose the staff are there to handle the crowd, and the food is fresh, but it still takes too long to get a burger from a place that has such few items to being with.

It's the hamburger of our childhood before quarter pounders. Just a small burger, fresh slice of onion, lettuce and good tomato. That is what makes it wonderful.

When y'all come back to the US, try a Culver's. They're WI based, but they have them scattered throughout the South and Southwest where the snowbirds go. You won't regret it. And don't forget to get the cheese curds. :)
