It has self leveling legs in the back. With it empty and lid closed, use both hands about 1-1/2 feet apart, grab the head of the washer and lift the back of the washer up then gently set it down. Use a level and adjust the individual legs in the front. Doesn't have to be perfect, but close. It is supposed to shut off with the lid open. Safety design. I would have gotten a single agitator and replaced that moving one. Moving one has 'dogs' that strip out. Best to avoid overfilling the washer with too many clothes. Take blankets and similar to the layndrymat. It is a clothes washer not a blanket/comforter/rug washer. Do not pack the washer down when putting clothes in it. Mine has a bleach dispenser in one of the corners. Hose rotted and broke after 25 years or so of use. New hose was $85 ! Went to auto store and bought a piece of heater hose and 2 clamps. Cost was about $10. Problem fixed. They make 2 different drive couplings (identical to each other) where one is standard and the other heavy duty. Heavy duty one lasts longer. Another common problem is the lid switch. Dropping or slamming the lid closed breaks them. BE GENTILE! Oh and NEVER turn the cycle knob with the washer running! Strips out the plastic gears in it. Same with the dryer too.
Its, whirlpool, a friendly reminder 😊

Agree about not overstuffing these old machines…Just replaced clutch, neutral drain, basket drive and drive block on my ‘96… good as new.
