Also, I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere along the line, Selena did have African ancestry. Mad Afro Mexicans live in Costa Chica and El Azufure, but thanks to ideas that Black Mexicans don't exist, they're erased from conversations like this. There are probably more Mexicans with African ancestry (Emiliano Zapata was one of them), as at one point from the 1600s-1800s, Mexico was bringing in more enslaved people than any other part of the Americas.
