Berlinski may have been quoting Einstein when he said "Science without religion is lame , religion without science is blind", those that may have conflicts between scripture and science may refer to Romans 1- 20 "For from the creation of the world the invisible things of Him are clearly seen, being understood through the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead" .. Also Psalms 102- 25In the beginning You laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. so the book of creation points to the creator - I see no problem. The Bible its the simplest way to explain the UN-explainable to mortals.

That does not make sense. Science is a body of knowledge you annoy create knowledge or information but only become aware of it. Reality is the state of being real. A lot of theists claim God is real and is the creator of reality. But how can create reality while simultaneously being real?

He wrote that religion needs science to do good works in the world, while science needs religious beliefs and values to direct how it is used. But the question is do we need religion to come up with values and beliefs to direct us as to how science should be used?
Hey I Shoot Milkyway and stars for fun...but I somehow got to learn about space in a deep way and you wouldn't believe that there are so much things that blow my mind. Like God protecting us to the beautiful creations and so many things.

Just one small point. You seem to indicate that Genesis 1-2 and the idea of creation is opposed to what science says, and that there is a conflict between the two. When you say that, we assume that you are saying that evolutionary theory is established science and that creation is not science. There are a lot of scientists who would disagree with you on this, even atheists. Of course you won't hear it often, but the "science" of evolutionary theory is being abandoned by many non-believing scientists. So, you may want to reconsider how you frame this conversation. It is an unwise decision to say there is Genesis 1-2 (which is simply theological) and then there is evolution (which is "established" science).

@@davex444 Have you ever thought about how we are on the earth, which is the correct distance from the sun for humanity to live. if the earth were too far from the sun it would make it too cold for life, and if it were any closer, it would make it too hot. Plus, the earth has the perfect balance of oxygen for life. I think those balances alone, show that this universe was designed for life by a Creator.

Kierkegaard's book "Fear and Trembling" talks about that exact thing. He was a religious man and your point has not gone unnoticed, it's worth a read.
