Literally just thought of it. I’m too risk adverse so I won’t go more than 25% of my portfolio but considered a 2nd FT job for 6 months to throw another $50k or so at it. But I can also just click a few buttons and do that but yea, priorities.
I saw this on Coin confessions and thought of you I would switch SOL with BTC of course but it brings home your point. From Coin Confessions: At the bottom of the bear market I bought a ton of Solana and some real estate. The renovations caused me to sell a bunch of Sol and I’ll be lucky to break even on the real estate. I have maybe 10% of my original Sol bag. Shouldn’t have left my basement and computer. Fuck boomer assets.
You can literally see the US dollar lose value year after year. Even if you invest in a little Bitcoin what harm is it going to bring? Best case is you make money and become your own bank, rather than lose it just saving in dollars, maintaining some real estate property, or buying gold. Wake up people.
I only compare bitcoin to stocks because it’s an investment. Of course I believe in bitcoin that’s why I’m here but we also can’t just assume bitcoin will outperform the stock market over the next 10 years. I believe it will significantly, but that’s not guaranteed. So I only allocate 25% of investments towards bitcoin. Against holding cash, bitcoin is definitively superior. Definitive takes like bitcoin is better than real estate is a bad take because over certain periods of time it will not. This is why balance is always the correct allocation. That being said, bitcoin to 1 million!
Could you please do a video addressing Bitcoin Core development critically? I have watched a German Interview of a Bitcoin Core developer a few days ago and he himself said that while there are currently 40-50 Bitcoin Core developers, it could be that someone with a lot of money (for example BlackRock, Michael Saylor) could hire 100, 200 or more developers who change the code to their liking and while it is of course the nodes who have to download that version, most people have absolutely no clue what they are downloading and just trust that it’s fine. Of course that could cause a hard fork but how many people would still fight or even know / care about the true and original nature of Bitcoin if most of them don’t even understand Bitcoin and simply see it as another investment that can make them more dollars, like most that buy the ETF. What if that entity (e.g BlackRock) used media propaganda to influence the NPC investors that these changes are necessary (maybe to make Bitcoin quantum resistant because now only that new chain with several hundred developers is) this can be thought through further of course.
During an economic crisis people don't earn money but still have to live somewhere, so the government makes laws that the tenant can stay in your property even without paying, and you still have to maintain it. It's not that they don't want to pay, they can't. Someone who buys real estate for investment purposes and not for living in it themselves should consider this, it has happened and it might happen again.
Rajat, what do you think the actual circulating supply number is after lost coins and Hodl'ers? Using this market cap calculator and thinking supply might be much lower than I am typing in but would like a knowledgeable opinion.
Okay, so once the entire world monetary system is converted to BTC, how does it continue to increase in value? You're no longer "buying" BTC, you're simply using it the way we use fiat now. The only difference being it swill not decrease in value...or will it?
Yeah exactly, the slowly increasing purchasing power will show itself as prices decreasing slowly for goods and services when you measure it in btc, so kinda like right now when you think btc to average house convert ratio, just way slower because of the bigger market cap compared to today
what can you do with bitcoin while waiting for the price to go up? work more and buy more bitcoin duhhh!!!! lol once u understand bitcoin all u wanna do is stack sats. in all of 2023 (when the price was between 16k-40K) i worked 2 jobs, worked plenty of 16 hour shifts and took a lot of OT, just so i could stack MORE sats, now today its paying off and will continue to pay off
@rajatsoni Bitcoin can be and has been confiscated by governments. Where do you think the Bitcoin owned by America and Germany came from in the first place?
Going to double post this comment I live in Australia and my god was my Christmas painful I talked to my eldest cousin about bitcoin and he does not get it, he thinks it's risky and that we need inflation I tried to explain why that is factually wrong but he thinks I'm arrogant for calling all keynesians wrong, he does hold some but not in self custody, he does not understand what he owns and just how dangerous it is to keep that on an exchange. I literally give up on my entire family, they're lambs for the slaughter. The brainwashing that goes on in schools and universities is immense to cause this.
As Jim Rickards points out, Keynes was above all a pragmatic and able to analyze a situation before giving advice. He was pro and contra gold in different situations. So I guess he wasn't even strictly a keynesian. In my opinion the problem is that his followers are not up to his intellectual level and reduce his thinking to simple recipes. Maybe he would see the beauty in the concept of Bitcoin, who knows. And for the universities: I am in fact a professor and my students asked me for a lecture on Bitcoin, which I happily delivered. And even some of my peers want to discuss the subject with me. Not all of them, some are simply too cozy in their prejudice, but there is some change going on.
Borrowing from Clemenceau, just as knowledge was too important to be left to the Church, money is too important to be left to the State (or any central authority).
I live in the UK and the government limits us to only putting 10% of our paycheck into crypto exchanges. Is there a way I put more than 10% of my paycheck into bitcoin?

While it’s probably less work, you need to allocate time to maintain your Bitcoin security setup, its a moving target.
As someone who had to replace her roof, windows, siding, flooding issues in my basement, BITCOIN is clearly the supervisor asset.

WISHING YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎅 🎄 RAJAT

Just keep accumulating
Happy holidays, brother. Keep up the great work!
