honestly i feel like the community just doesnt know what they want. they think they want all these cool "hype" characters like gogeta and gojo, but then when the devs decide to make them strong to live up to the hype they end up staying in the top 10 most banned list for months on end. even if they are somewhat more enjoyable to play as then ur average character, they sure as hell are a lot less enjoyable to fight. in my opinion, im fine with nekotan being added as long as she is decent to play as and not annoying to fight against. even if she doesnt really generate hype, im pretty sure almost any update aba comes out with is at least bringing in 15k+ people, so they can add whoever they have the motivation to add.
the real problem is that over half the roster is outdated and needs reworks but the devs keep bloating the roster with characters not many people are interested in

I guess the best strategy would be to sandwich 1 hype rework between 2 "boring" but needed reworks.
