If you’re wondering why Scrooge doesn’t fire the board of directors, it’s because he likely can’t. The way that a board of directors works is by every individual having less power than the CEO, but a majority of them working together having more power. This is in order to give the shareholders some security if the CEO of the company starts making poor financial decisions, and is why there are many instances of company founders being forced out of their own company when they either start acting like idiots, or even just start acting in the interest of the consumer instead of in the interest of lining shareholder pockets. The typical way to get rid of a bad board member is via the rest of the board deciding to fire them.

In the original comics _everybody_ was after the #1 Dime, because they thought it was _literally_ a magic dime and whoever had it could never fail at business. There were a couple instances in the Carl Barks classic comics when Scrooge lost the Dime and _instantly_ started losing money until he got the Dime back. The Don Rosa comics retconned it to being an ordinary dime whose value to Scrooge was purely sentimental, but many of his villains still believed it had some sort of magic power. Other stories would imply that the Dime was originally ordinary but _became_ special over decades of absorbing Scrooge's financial success and the hardships he went through for them, and when one villain (who will be appearing soon) used time travel to steal the Dime before Scrooge earned it, it became worthless until it was returned.

It's so funny how at least in this continuity they use the Number One Dime as the justification for why Scrooge is even _in_ America. I wonder if the comics have it that way too? Or if it was just an American writer who didn't realize that now they're 10p coins in the UK, whenever Scrooge would be a child it'd be 2 shillings for the same percentage of 1 pound?
Old Fogey time: Back in the old show Gearloose was around but like many characters has changed drastically, and for the better in my opinion. His old persona was the then popular quirky scientist stereotype, he was absentminded, didn't realize some people were evil, only focused on his inventions and basically just became the go to character to introduce some gadget or get out of a scifi situation....now really old fogey time, Della Duck, Donald Duck's sister and mother of the triplets, did exist back in the day...however her name was "Dumbella" and to my knowledge never appeared fully on screen or comic panel until this show, the most reference we really got to her was seeing her hands as she dropped off the nephews at Donald's house as she had to go to the hospital to be with their father who they had blown up with dynamite as a prank....and we then never saw either again and a decade or so later we had a comic about Donald Duck filling out tax forms where he listed the nephews as his dependents (so he adopted them).
There was some European comic (can't remember which country) that showed a flashback of Della/Dumbella dropping of the baby triplets with Donald before going into space, since she was an astronaut. Then she got sucked into a black hole and presumably died, which honestly sounds like an unnecessarily dark way to explain it in a comic meant for children? Like, I found black holes really terrifying as kid; why not just say it was a car accident? Anyway, how much of that was canon was debatable since it came from overseas, but that was the most complete version of their mother we ever had prior to this show.
There's a bittersweet feeling of seeing the references to the '87 series and them going over most reactor's heads because they're not old enough/didn't see the original. Episodes like this made my old ass squeal like a schoolgirl.
Ah the Number One. The first coin earned by the richest man in the world. The key ingredient to the Midas Touch spell. I'm sure that won't ever come back in the narrative. At all.
The spear of scalene is actually a magical spear that messes up the body of whoever it’s used on, Della took it and went into hiding after Scrooge accidentally used it on Donald, messing up his vocal cords.
4:38 There's also a "don't try this at home" message in there. You just *know* somebody who grew up with the original DuckTales tried it at some point and like broke half their bones or something. God knows who, but it must've happened.
I have a memory of 80s ducktales being on tv and no one was watching and Donald set off the episode's plot by spending Scrooge's first dime on a phonebooth and I didn't see how they got it back. I only remember that moment because it showed Donald being uncharacteristically chipper in his phonecall. "what money did ye use for this phonecall? ... What dime?" "I used the lone dime in this fancy glass container lying around!" "DONALD THAT'S SO OBVIOUSLY ME FIRST DIME I EVER MADE!!"

The spear of Selene is an incredibly powerful artifact capable of moving the moon. Della damaged it and is on a quest to repair it to appease Selene, the goddess of the moon.
5 maybe spoilers, maybe lies. 1: The ottoman twins are shown so much because one if them is the father of the triplets...but they don't know which and being perfect twins a DNA test can't prove it either...and other reasons. 2: The spear of Selene is cursed and Della must forever flee from moon demons hunting her and any contact with her family would put them at risk as well. The curse was meant to target Scrooge but Della had been the one to want to go on that adventure. 3: the spear of Selene is actually a dimensional key created by Gearloose to look at other timelines, she took it to check out possible future versions of her yet unhatched eggs but like all of Gearloose inventions it backfired and she became trapped in another timeline. 4: Scrooge is actually a Greek god and after a falling out with Zeus was banished, Zeus even erasing his name from the myths, Della wanted to do right by him and return one of the stolen treasures of the gods but is now stuck in New Olympus which is cut off from the world and especially hidden from Scrooge. 5: Gearloose ends up creating a robot boy that thinks its the fourth nephew Phooey Duck.
Operation Blatherskipe is a great episode. The robots try to mind control everyone - Webby becomes a stereotypical little girl, Scrooge becomes incapable of spending even a penny, and the triplets are forced into a single hive mind. Luckily, Della uses the Spear of Selene to destroy all robots, but that let's the Beagle Boys rob the money bin and leave Scrooge penniless.
You forgot Donald is revealed to have been replaced before the show started with the T-1000 Terminator sent into the past to kill Webby before one of the triplets can make her become a mother.
I'm glad that Webby is growing on Moska - considering her personality in the original was basically just "the girl," the tweaks that have been made to the triplets and her to make them more unique and interesting are definitely a step up in terms of characterisation. And yeah, Launchpad doesn't really get to be much more than goofy himbo comic relief (with a few exceptions), but the writers wisely don't overuse him compared with the original - he shows up when it's plot relevant, or they have character development for him, or they need him to be a punchline to a gag.
Hey everyone! Remember to keep the comments free of any spoilers of future episodes for Mosco. Have fun & be creative with fake spoilers! Also, make sure we’re keeping the comments cool & comfortable for everyone here. Enjoy the reaction y’all!!!
He’s literally Duck Soos. Seriously, an upcoming episode reveals that he’s actually one of Soos’s multiversal counterparts. He’s like the Kangs but they’re all good guys (well, there’s the one Evil Soos but he doesn’t show up until the graphic novel)
FUN FACT: The Vultures are voiced by Comedian, actor, and writer Marc Evan Jackson, whose most popular roles include Shawn form The Good Place and Kevin Cozner from Brooklyn 99. One of Marc Evan Jackson's most prolific projects was probably The Trilling Adventure Hour, a live stage show that mimicked the ol' Timey radio shows of the 30's and 40's, where he played the titular Sparks Nevada, Marshall on Mars during the segments of the same name. Thrilling Adventure Hour ended regular shows several years ago, however they can still be found as podcasts and are tiemless entertainment. They also feature many guest roles from other voice talents who will later become recurring characters on DuckTales, including Paul F Thomkins and Padget Brewster, who played a married mediums on the Beyond Belief segments of those show.
The Timetub and Project Blatherskate (as well as Gyro saying "blatherskate") are actually easter eggs referencing the original Ducktales series. The timetub was used in multiple episodes for various reasons, and there was a character who -- when he got frustrated -- would say, "blathering blatherskate."
I believe Gyro's list of evil inventions references a few inventions made by the classic incarnation of the character, which would often cause the conflict of a story, if not by turning evil then either having some unforseen flaw or winding up in the hands of a villain. Also "Cogs" may be a reference to the villains of Disney's Toontown MMO.
Idk if this has been pointed out yet but just the fact that louie was really lazy and does the bare minimum but when ever he found out that he lost the “number one dime” he literally chases that dime all throughout the bin doing everything he can to get the dime just because it was Scrooges and that shows how much he would do for his family and I really respect that
The timetube is probably a reference to the old tv show, where there was a couple arcs where he invented a timetube and some of the characters got lost in time, once exploring a future where the triplets were now ruthless rich jerk bosses in a distopian hyper advanced police state, but also once in the past, during the time of Arthur and Merlin! I Loved these arcs. And gosh. You were way too optimistic of Louie if you didn’t expect him to spend it as soon as he got that dime. XD Also, fun fact about that first dime: they released a « making of » book about the series, and IN that book, some pages have been cut out to make a slot for a replica of that coin. It’s really neat, and I love having Scrooge’s first dime as a prop.

The Spear of Selene has the power to disguise anything it touches from all magical and non-magical forms of search. Scrooge was using to hide his treasure (that's why he now has to spend $50k on magical protection instead), but Della got in bad with the Duckburg mob and has been using the spear to hide herself from them. EDIT: "magical protection", not "magical perfection". Curse you, autocorrect!

I thought it was the Sphere of Selene she took. So she could watch the stars?
@@alexkoder1982 Nah, it was the Sphere of Poseidon, so she could beat Donald at fishing.
@@aquatus1 and she was the one who actually blew his boat up
no, she took the lightning bolt, she's the lightning thief! oh, wait, wrong series
She took what she thought was the Spear of Selene but it was the Spear of Poseidon.
I know people missed Nice Gyro, but this version of him is really such an engineer mood.
Currently watching this on my school lunch break!
Me too 😂
There's a bittersweet feeling of seeing the references to the '87 series and them going over most reactor's heads because they're not old enough/didn't see the original.
Episodes like this made my old ass squeal like a schoolgirl.
Ah the Number One. The first coin earned by the richest man in the world. The key ingredient to the Midas Touch spell.
I'm sure that won't ever come back in the narrative. At all.
The timetub is a giant mech that travels through time and steals everyone's bathtubs.
The spear of scalene is actually a magical spear that messes up the body of whoever it’s used on, Della took it and went into hiding after Scrooge accidentally used it on Donald, messing up his vocal cords.
As opposed to the Sphere of Selene, which is a pumice body scrub to soften skin and give it that smooth, silky, feel.
If you're enjoying it now, with theses oneshot episodes, just wait until later.
You will not believe that Ducktales (effing DUCKTALES of all things) will hit you right in the feels.
You're gonna need Hamish for the second to last episode of season 1.
15:22 I'll be in my office, if you need me. Please don't need me.
“People that are super super intelligent, like super book smart, can’t do the most basic of things, have youse noticed that? Like the tiniest little… like… problem-solving life skill is just like… incomprehensible to them?”
Y’know, I came here to have a good time and I’m honestly feeling really attacked right now.
Joke’s on you, though, I’m only *moderately* book-smart, but *very* street-dumb.
She just had to call us out, didn't she? 😆
I'm telling you launchpad can predict the future and he's been doing it since episode 1
Scrooge is sorta like Indiana Jones with consequences, mostly curses and magical enemies. The penny-pinchers would never understand. 😉
The spear of Selene is an incredibly powerful artifact capable of moving the moon. Della damaged it and is on a quest to repair it to appease Selene, the goddess of the moon.
Huey, Dewey, and Louie have a long lost brother named newy who hatched from a golden egg and wears yellow.
Liar!
Everyone knows the long-lost fourth brother is named Phooey.
Huewy gets extremely weird body proportions
15:39 I can’t wait for her to realize that Scrooge pushed them into the side of evil for firing them in a future episode!
12:53 MOSCO THE TIME TUB DOES COMEBACK LATER IN THE SERIES
9:12 That is exactly why I loved the 10th doctor the most 😂
You sure you don't mean the Fourteenth? 😁
Blathering. Blatherskite.
9:56 Very true. (Dewey can be a bit self-absorbed too, so he'd probably run into the same problem.)
Hey everyone! Remember to keep the comments free of any spoilers of future episodes for Mosco. Have fun & be creative with fake spoilers! Also, make sure we’re keeping the comments cool & comfortable for everyone here. Enjoy the reaction y’all!!!
Scrooge “spared no expense” looking for Della Duck
Oof.
Cut me like a knife!
Launchpad's career as a superhero would later go on to inspire a song by Canadian indie rock group Sex-Bobomb.
Louie gained the ability to money swim because the dime granted him the ability too like it did for Scrooge.
Della actually lives in the walls Bruno style
Launchpad is amazing. No lie. You will grow to love him despite his bumbling antics!
He’s literally Duck Soos.
Seriously, an upcoming episode reveals that he’s actually one of Soos’s multiversal counterparts. He’s like the Kangs but they’re all good guys (well, there’s the one Evil Soos but he doesn’t show up until the graphic novel)
Oh boy 18 more episodes until the very peak. WHAT A LONG WAIT!!!
Lets get dangerous with this one
6:48 this face is killing me
The Timetub and Project Blatherskate (as well as Gyro saying "blatherskate") are actually easter eggs referencing the original Ducktales series. The timetub was used in multiple episodes for various reasons, and there was a character who -- when he got frustrated -- would say, "blathering blatherskate."
If you're surprised you got attached to a dime, you'll be a looot more surprised (¬‿¬)
We get to meet one of my favorite characters next episode. I wonder what Mos will think of em.
Scrooge's #1 dime is also the key to Gyro's Doomsday Device.
If I had a dime for everytime 'duck' was mentioned as an action and mistaken for a name I'd buy Disney.
The time tub is bigger on the inside. Also Scrooge regenerates in that episode and David's father-in-law, the fifth doctor voices Scrooge.
Gyro never does anything stupid; he does things that are VERY MISUNDERSTOOD.
Della died from eating too much gum
Mrs. B is Donald from the future.
Idk if this has been pointed out yet but just the fact that louie was really lazy and does the bare minimum but when ever he found out that he lost the “number one dime” he literally chases that dime all throughout the bin doing everything he can to get the dime just because it was Scrooges and that shows how much he would do for his family and I really respect that
Is that Librarian duck a super saiyan?
The timetube is probably a reference to the old tv show, where there was a couple arcs where he invented a timetube and some of the characters got lost in time, once exploring a future where the triplets were now ruthless rich jerk bosses in a distopian hyper advanced police state, but also once in the past, during the time of Arthur and Merlin! I Loved these arcs.
And gosh. You were way too optimistic of Louie if you didn’t expect him to spend it as soon as he got that dime. XD
Also, fun fact about that first dime: they released a « making of » book about the series, and IN that book, some pages have been cut out to make a slot for a replica of that coin. It’s really neat, and I love having Scrooge’s first dime as a prop.
I'm glad I found your channel! There aren't very many people who do reactions to Ducktales and I'm really enjoying your commentary as you experience it. Looking forward to the rest of them!
6:10 Woah! Sounds like somebody could use a couple of trips to the local library.
In the season finale, it turns out that Scrooge was actually a chocolate easter bunny THE WHOLE TIME
bc of how american tv works, there won't be Plot Plot every episode, so you may have to wait on some della lore, but it's acoming! and it's gooooooood too
His full name is Launch Demetrius Pad
The Spear of Seline is actually the Spear of Destiny, the spear that stabbed Jesus during the crucifixion. It has reality warping power and is how Scrooge became rich.
Next episode introduces one of my fav characters!! I cant wait!!
I never realized Armstrong was on Gyro's list XD it's too bad they never showed him in this series.
Della killed Scrooge with the Spear of Selene and Scrooge is actually her. That's why she's sorry.
18:15 Oh, don't worry, it doesn't go *that* horribly wrong!
luey is such a classic case of adhd/autistic if ive ever seen it XD he reminds me of me
I love Duck Tales, I'm so excited you're reacting to the series. I find myself coming to TH-cam every day checking if there's a new reaction 😅
The number 1 dime is actually a quarter
17:40😂 18:00 Put a little 'Pep' in your step.
As a very cool and important librarian, I simply cannot abide the slander against our noble profession! Shame! Shame...
