It is fascinating to hear your design process and to learn what goes into designing. I am starting to fully understand what good designers go through to create a great design.
I love both of your designs. The sweater is partcullarly exciting. I have always wanted to knit one with broken ribs. You are the queen of details. I am sure your pattern will be well written. I am looking forward to do the test knit as I am a plus size and don’t like deep armholes. Love your podcast. ❤
I have a small handbook binder style book of CO and BO and I love it! One of the most useful books I've ever bought. It has so many different types you never see and different variations too. They are divided into stretchy or not, what they are good for, lots of info compact and nothing you don't need. Obviously I highly recommend it. Also, I am Loving your new sweater design! It's exactly what I've been craving! Soon as you finish you already have 1 person eager to test knit and I swore I'd never do that lol I think of all the designers you would be fun to knit with though. I always love your podcast and watch soon as I see it's out. 💙
Is it the one by Judith Durant? I just bought that not too long ago and it's such a good resource. Thank you for your kind words, I'm so happy to hear that you are loving it! Definitely keep an eye out for my testing call (though it will be a bit still 😅)

That was fun! thanks for sharing your design process, very interesting. I just watched the last "handknit letter" postcast, and Becky just finished the Grid Gambit Cowl. When I saw your socks, my mind immediatly went to picturing a whole wardrobe of those line angles creating optical illusions - made me laugh, thanks for that.
I always wondered if you had a background in art because of your wonderful design aesthetic and then when you described "cross hatching" my suspicions were confirmed! I am a retired Professor of art. Love your podcast.
The navy is so good! I decided to go with the US 3/5 as the fabric knit on the US 2/4 was a little bit stiff and I worried it wouldn't drape as nicely as I'm envisioning. Definitely anxious to see this one finished!
Thank you! The cowl is my Wildflower Bloom Cowl (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wildflower-bloom-cowl) and the sweater is my Prismatic Reflection Sweater (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/prismatic-reflection-sweater)
Waaaaaahhhhhh……the new sweater! That is exactly what I had in mind for some stash yarn I have. I was going to try myself, but now I don’t have to :-)). Now all I need to do is be patient….Not sure which one is harder.
I've been into broken rib lately too. I had neck surgery recently and wanted a small Sophie-type scarf to cover bandages and stuff while I heal. I made one scarf and realized how much I hated doing garter stitch back and forth over a small area for for 40 inches. So I made my own in broken in rib with a gorgeous 100% camel yarn and I love it.
I’m currently knitting a very cabled hat (the moon rover hat by Sari Nordlund) in skyland and I’m really loving how it’s handling the cables. Hoping to finish in the next few days.
This might be a bit of a do as I say, not as I do moment. I always recommend catching floats if you have the same color for at least every 6 sts, though I didn't do that with this sock. So far it's been fine, but you could always catch floats every 4 to 5 sts and not have to worry about any toe catching!
I came back here after I was watching another Podcaster doing Entrelac Knitting and it hit me what your sock reminds me of... You could call it EntreLook or entrelike, whatever lol

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Love the sock pattern, can't wait for the pattern.
Thank you!!
I love your hashtag socks!! I think your sweater will be really pretty, can’t wait to see it when it’s done!
Thank you!! They do look like hashtags, don't they!?
I LOVE the socks and looking forward to the sweater!!! Thanks for another great podcast.
Oh I'm so glad. Thank you!!
Love the new sock pattern and sweater start. Both are looking amazing. Another great podcast. Thank you.
Thank you so much, I'm really excited about both of them!

That is such a huge compliment, thank you so much!
I love seeing these new patterns! And it was fun hearing more about your background and design journey, thanks for sharing!
Thanks Ailsa!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it; it's so fun to chat about all of this and not feel like I'm rambling haha
I love your podcast Michelle!
I'm so glad! 🥰
Very pretty sweater you're working up. Love the socks!
Thank you! I'm loving them both so much.
I love listening to you talk about design! It’s a skill I so admire but don’t think I’ll ever tackle
Thanks so much! I sometimes wonder if it seems like I'm just rambling so I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it.

@@Kera.S. Nice, thanks! Adding that one to my queue.
This blue sweater you are working on is really pretty! I need it in my life when it come out :)
Oh I'm so glad you like it!

Haha you're right, so many optical illusions!!
Love the new sock pattern. The yarn combo is stunning. Looking forward to the Blue Sky design release as I have always loved broken rib.
Thanks so much!! I just love broken rib, it just amplifies the ribbing texture in such a nice way.
I adore this he blue sky fibers nightfall yarn! I’ll knit it for sure!
Awesome!! Yeah it's such a beautiful yarn.
In weaving, alternating blocks of horizontal and vertical lines is a color and weave technique called “Log Cabin”.
What an interesting perspective! I hadn't even thought about it from a weaving aspect.
I always wondered if you had a background in art because of your wonderful design aesthetic and then when you described "cross hatching" my suspicions were confirmed! I am a retired Professor of art. Love your podcast.
Thank you so much! You can take the kid out of art school, but you can't take the art school out of the kid, right?
Love the Blue Sky Navy 💙 AND the swatch on needles 2 & 4.
The navy is so good! I decided to go with the US 3/5 as the fabric knit on the US 2/4 was a little bit stiff and I worried it wouldn't drape as nicely as I'm envisioning. Definitely anxious to see this one finished!
@meeshyfrazzknits not sure if you've heard, the Fiber Gallery is closing. 😩 I've been going there thru 4 moves/20 years. So sad!!!
Love the new sweater, also could you tell us what is on your mannequin? thank you!
They are her designs and you can find the patterns on ravelry 💙
Thank you! The cowl is my Wildflower Bloom Cowl (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wildflower-bloom-cowl) and the sweater is my Prismatic Reflection Sweater (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/prismatic-reflection-sweater)
I am loving that Blue Sky Fibers project. I want it! Can’t wait for it come out this summer. Love the color too. Feel your pain on the math issue too.
That's awesome, so glad you are liking it so far! I'm really excited about this one. And yeah... Math. Ugh.
The sock makes me think of patterns I used to put in my notebooks on middle and high school
Haha I definitely get that
The socks made me think of the tulip and daffodil fields up in the Skagit Valley in WA every spring!
Oh I totally see that, like little parcels of fields from above! I love that.
Waaaaaahhhhhh……the new sweater! That is exactly what I had in mind for some stash yarn I have. I was going to try myself, but now I don’t have to :-)). Now all I need to do is be patient….Not sure which one is harder.
Haha I totally get it! It's currently my new obsession and just about all I can think about 🤣
The new sock design is so cute. It looks sorta more like basket weave or corrugated metal to me. Great podcast.
Thank you! Yeah a lot of people are seeing weaving which I hadn't even thought of.
The socks are stunning! Love the two colours together Michele! ❤
Thanks YeJi! I just love them. ❤
I totally agree, I bet that turned out beautifully!
Omg girl navy is your color for sure 🥰
Thank you!! I'm definitely partial to jewel tones 🥰
I love the socks. Looks like they were woven rather than knitted. If only I was a sock knitter 😂
That's what everyone keeps saying! I didn't even think of the woven aspect but I totally see it now.
Cross hatch pattern in a jumper will look fantasic! (I don't have the patience for sock knitting but a jumper, oh yeah)
Haha I totally get that! I'm really looking forward to knitting up the sweater version.
I’m currently knitting a very cabled hat (the moon rover hat by Sari Nordlund) in skyland and I’m really loving how it’s handling the cables. Hoping to finish in the next few days.
It's got such a great stitch definition with that tiny bit of fluff; I bet it's gorgeous on that hat pattern!
Do like your new sock design😀 Name: The Basket socks.
Thank you! It's so funny, several people have called out the weaving/basket aspect of the design and I hadn't even realized it!
The Crosswalk socks 😊
Oh that's a great name!
The Tiles socks 😊
It does look kind of like tiles, actually! Thanks 😊
I love the look of that pattern on the sock, but how about the floats on the inside? Will your pinkie toe get stuck while putting them on?😊
This might be a bit of a do as I say, not as I do moment. I always recommend catching floats if you have the same color for at least every 6 sts, though I didn't do that with this sock. So far it's been fine, but you could always catch floats every 4 to 5 sts and not have to worry about any toe catching!
You should make another sweater in that color - it’s the best color I’ve seen on you!
Thank you! I'm enjoying the blues right now for sure.
Meeshyfrazz Crosshatch Sock 💙❤🤍
I came back here after I was watching another Podcaster doing Entrelac Knitting and it hit me what your sock reminds me of... You could call it EntreLook or entrelike, whatever lol
Oh I love that! They do sort of look that way, don't they!?
I enjoyed hearing about your design process though it is all Greek to me. 😂
Haha that's totally fair, sometimes to me too 🤣
Loved the socks and totally dislike felted tweed, is indeed to rough!!
It's so much rougher than expected!
