In mid seventies when posted at Kullu I would quite often go to Rohtang pass on Sundays. Every time I used to alight from the vehicle and walk to Rohtang. It was always mesmerising journey. Till the year 2010 I have been going to Rohtang and even beyond up to Sarchu whenever I got the opportunity. Had the pleasure of visiting Chander tal once when on way to Spiti. Got the opportunity to visit Suraj tal several times. Once went Leh also by road. Even now I wish to go to all these heavenly places but due to age and heart problem cannot go. Imagine myself to be in those areas when watching this type of videos. God bless the video makers.
Thank you so much from those of us who will never have an opportunity to visit the amazing Himalayas. You are a set of eyes for us to see such raw beauty.
You are really living the dream Amit! I have watched this video a dozen times and cannot get tired of it. You have truly captured the beauty of the Himalayas and shared it with the world so that anyone can experience your trip without leaving home - I know I definitely have, many times. I have always loved the mountains from South Africa, New Zealand and now mother India which is the epitome. I am scheduled to arrive in Leh late August - hope all goes well, Best wishes from New Zealand.
Thank you very much. Much appreciated. I would advice to do it in June / July as in August you may encounter rains and will lead to landslides and road blockages. Good Luck!! Thanks Amit, really confusing with weather/rainfall. I thought late August won’t be an issue as it will be autumn and bus still operating from Leh to Manali?
Your advice was spot-on my friend. My Manali to Leh bus was cancelled due to heavy rains in Himalchal during August/September 2018. I flew into Leh instead and spent a total of four days on the road using local taxi - absolutely awesome India 🇮🇳 Be safe and take care Amit.
Thank you very much. Dont forget to give a thumbs up! For more videos, please do subscribe to my channel th-cam.com/users/LongDrive Thanks for support!!
What's tbe name of the river, near Kardung La.... watched your vids many times...its so beautiful, , calming and relaxing.. the Himalayas are ecstatic..... thanks for sharing, so that we who can't travel could enjoy..... ♥️♥️♥️🇺🇸 ..
Wonderful video really captures the absolute stunning beauty and wonder of this amazing part of the world. I travelled the Manali to Leh road in 1995 on bus and hitching on trucks! Thanks for sharing
57:54 This seems to be a Skoda Superb, there was a rare 4x4 version of this though this seems 2WD. No front skid plates. Awesome video, been planning this trip for a while. This has been inspiring.
sir I also wants to visit here but I don't have car and none of my friends are interested because no phone signal available in this region. if I join you to visit here the please tell me what is your terms and conditions 🙏
Namaste !! I'm french woman and traveller also but without car !! Legs only... Your trips by car its excellent ... really !! My name is Anila....thank....
Awesome video!! Will u be visiting ladakh or somewhere near keylong or jispa by the end of the year or sometime next year? Because I have heard that the rohtang tunnel will be opening by the end of this year so I want to really see some videos related to that. Thanks and arrange video and music once again!!!
I will be going there in a week time. I am not very keep to see the Rohtang Tunnel, infact I like to climb Rohtang pass more. I am sure its not going to be very different from other tunnels we have in J&K and Himachal. Thank you very much. I am glad. Do give my video a thumbs up and Subscribe!!
As usual this is excellent video and it is inspiring though it is recorded months back. Your little sub titles in English are wonderful than boring real time talks by few bikers. I wish to contact you before I step out my journey from Chennai. I will find and call you soon on the name of Sara. :)

You have to halt at Jispa or Sarchu in between. Manali to Jispa it takes around 6 hours and Jispa to Leh around 16 hours. Do give my video a thumbs up and Subscribe : )
Yes, you will have to start real early like 2-3 am from Manali and then also you will reach at night. You wont be able to take much of stops in between. From Jispa itself, it takes half a day to reach Leh. I would not recommend it, you will not enjoy it, though its doable. Good luck! Do give my video a thumbs up and Subscribe : )
The govt should construct small flyovers/elevated bridges across those water streams so that tourists can enjoy journeys without difficulties. Isn't it?? Alas, who cares for ppl in India?? By the way, the music played with video is awesome and so also the video shooting
Long Drive : Am planning a drive on Monday, so next day I can't travel rite on that route, or once if we cross Rohtang, we can drive on Tuesday? Like from Keylong or Jispa?
Rohtang is closed on Tuesday for maintenance. You need to check on that. Plus crossing Rohtang will take you lot of time coz of traffic jams, so try to leave early like 7 in the morning from ,Manali, so that you reach Keylong / Jispa in the afternoon. Also, next day from Keylong / Jispa, try to leave early morning like 5, so that you reach Leh before sunset. Good luck!
That depends on no. of days and where you stay. I would say for 2 people traveling in own car, staying at a cheap place, your expense comes to be around 20K per head. For regular updates, please do subscribe to my channel goo.gl/RMgCLa Thanks for support!!
Hey I am planning to go leh in may end from Mumbai. Can I get your contact to get some details as its going to a very long drive and I am going there for first time.
You can drop me an email at amitmetharu@gmail.com and I will try to guide you. If this is your first time, I would recommend fly to Leh and hire a bike there. For regular updates, please do subscribe to my channel goo.gl/RMgCLa Thanks for support!!
The video is excellent. I believe these are under the control of border roads organisation. There are very dangerous spots and some small rivulets across the roads. I hope Border Roads Organisation will take early care since a War between India and china may come!! roads
Beautiful, but you are driving your own Scorpio toward khardung la. Robber Taxi driver didn't stop you. I have listen that they forced the people to hire their vehicle Just like robber, and giving a stupid answer that they don't know to honestly earn money that's why they do this. This is the only business they have

Things like what time you started from Manali, what was the average speed to reach Marhi , Rohtang. What were the obstacles if any. what permissions were taken, etc. For 1 1/2 hr of seeing the road is a thumbs down
