Worked at HISTA in the fall/winter of 2001. I never thought I would cry as hard as I did after watching this for the first time in 13 years. WDW College Program in Imagination! 2001 HMU!
The whole Imagination pavilion, especially this beautiful song/video, inspires me so much~ It fills me with a sense of wonder like nothing else, a feeling that I can do anything and spread nothing but smiles and happiness~ I love it so much!
ive been on this ride many times, and i just cry when i watch it, it gets me so sad and thankful of what ive been given and how blessed we all are. thankfully it is dark in there so i can wipe away the tears without anyone seeing!!
This was AMAZING! I used to tear up everytime I saw it. The cool thing (which most people don't know) is that this production was projected on a screen from 5 still frame slide projectors! No CGI or video here. Basic technology used to produce a fun, "animated" film
I'm sitting here in a state of shock. I haven't seen this since I was at Epcot in the mid 90s, searched for it for years and finally gave up a few years ago, resigning myself to the fact that I would never see it again. OH MY GOD THIS IS A FABULOUS PIECE OF ART! The people behind the making of this, whoever they are....god bless you. It just makes my heart swell up. What a shame they keep this locked up in some vault somewhere.....the world should be forced to watch this each and every day.
My thoughts exactly Danny Adman. I miss this pre-show greatly. When I first saw it in the 90's it was during a very stressful and tough time in my life and I used to stand in the pre-show sobbing (good tears) being reminded of what's important. Thanks for the reminder again - now you owe me a box of Kleenex.
OMG!!! I use to work this attraction at Epcot & loved this version of True Colors. Very upset when they changed it out & was not able to find the music anywhere. Thank you for posting. Now I can relive some fond memories.
I can´t believe this video is here. Thank you so much!!! I was looking for it since I saw it in epcot in 1995, 14 year ago... It make me cry and aslo inspired me... I wrote to Kodak and never been aswered... You don´t know how important is this for me... Thanks again...
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! I saw this in 1997 and 2001. When I went back in 2008 I was so sad to see it gone...even though I hadn't seen it in forever...the image of the yellow lab was forever engraved in my mind. It reminds me of our old lab Jake...I miss him. Anyway thanks so much!
Let give some major props to Martin Smith!! The man behind compiling all the video and documentation for these videos. Not only this but many others! Through his videos he has helped me and many others relive our childhood moments at the Disney Theme Parks. :-) Also if you're looking for these videos for download I always use mousebits Thanks to them too for hosting the torrent links for Disney children like me :-)
Holy COW!!!!!!!!!!!!! The first time I tried to find this at least two years ago and here I finally stumbled upon it. Thanks for posting, great great childhood memories. Cheers
This is a great video and I love the added lyrics, they made a great song even better. If I remember correctly, all of the photos used were submitted as a contest when they were building epcot Kodak had a photography contest with their cameras and film. Winning photographs became a part of this show.... Just another cool tidbit to this great show. The reason the pics are so good and so moving is that the pictures are REAL and not contrived by some ad agency with actors & "pretty" models. That is what the later show lacked, the pics were contived and looked and felt fake. There was not emotional component to them and it was quite obvious to anyone who watched.
Thank you for finding this, I've been looking for the song for awhile. I worked at HISTA for a summer and heard this every 15-20 minutes. It brings back many memories. I just don't remember the song being so cheesy. I love the musical parts where the voices change, like when they show the glasses.
Thank you for posting this! I absolutely loved watching this at Epcot! It always made me cry! It made me want to be a photographer and learn to make videos!
For me this sure evokes an amazing memory from when I first went to the HISTA attraction at EPCOT in August, 1995. The memorable music and compelling images are just sensational and this was back when the entire Disney empire still lived up to it's true meaning of meeting the essential backgrounds of all ages instead of only the kiddie level which since then it's started going downhill toward! I think that while the words on screen stayed the same the pictures might have changed over the years as I remember ones different from what's seen here such as when a winged creature is seen which turns out to be a reflection in a pair of glasses (this is at 2:05). When I saw this pre-show the animal was reflected on sunglasses instead of eye glasses and they were being worn by a person instead of lying on the ground. Both versions include the same final scene though at 6:26 of the young boy and girl gazing at a sunset in silhouettes. Though I adore that shot I've never understood it's full meaning and why it was used as the finale in this presentation. Can anyone insight me on that?
Thanks a lot for this video... I saw it first time in 1195, an then when I was there again, i wanted to recorded but it was not there anymore.. thanks a lot, from Brazil... Ricardo.
WATCHA , took my kids to florida after sadly loosin my mother to cancer, an when this came on, the lot of us burst into rapurious tears hahaha, thanx for sharing means so much xx
I would hate to be a CP there and have to listen to this song on my last day.. before saying goodbye to all my friends and disney... I would cry my freakin heart out.
I remember seeing this opening back in the mid-90s, and I'm sorry, but in my opinion it was a snoozefest. Seemed like it was never going to end. Wish they had kept "Makin' Memories" - never saw what they did with it visually, but the song is certainly a lot more lively!
i was watching your other movie (a whole new world recording), which all of you should see, and i wanted to see what other things you posted. I'm glad i did! That was absolutly beautiful!!!!
Why can't Disney be like this anymore? It used to MEAN something, represent more than just a multimillion business! It's like they've forgotten that it all started with a boy who drew in pitch all over his country home!
I never said this was her performing and I didn't say she wrote this. I said she was a rich songwriter. This video reminded me of her cos it was the first version I ever heard.
what the hell happened to epcot even though i've never been on any of the rides that are no longer at epcot i've heard that they inspired people and encouraged people to do things that they've never done before so what the hell happened to epcot
I have been looking for this music to use on a family picture video for at least 7 years... how did you get it and would you mind telling me how I could come by it? It would mean the world to me. Thanks a million!
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN GET A COPY OF THIS PRESHOW? I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR THAT. I TRIED TO GET IT AT EPCOT. IT SEEMS TO ME PEOPLE CAN NOT REMEMBER WHAT THIS IS ANYMORE. HUGS.

Michael González-Casiano I’m crying now too 😢
H.I.S.T.a shout out!! Good Time's
I miss the 90's 😓

I remember this video, it was a good montage, and I like the positive feeling it has.
This happens to be my fave part in Epcot!! Too bad they don't have it anymore.....
This, Ellen's Energy Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy!

Agree 100% amazing . So nice to read your comment. Feels like home O MG a long time ago
This is the best pre-show EVER. The new one disappointed (to say the least). I cried too!!
😔 Watching this makes me miss this attraction too much. Thank you so much for sharing this memory.

Preparing for my 2nd trip to America next August I remember the 1st one back in July 1995 when I saw this presentation. Great memories from it!!

Thanks for share and bring it back. Wonderful memories came up watching this once again.

*sighs* This video used to make me cry every single time I watched it from 1997 to 1998, when I worked in EPCOT.
Thank you!!

The previous show to this was Makin' Memories, which went together with Captain Eo. I'm not sure what pre-show they had before Magic Journeys.
Brings back memory's. Thank you for the upload! but DAMN all that shaking!!!
It’s This Guy, sorry
wow... it make me cry
I would hate to be a CP there and have to listen to this song on my last day.. before saying goodbye to all my friends and disney... I would cry my freakin heart out.

Thanks a lot for this. Brings back great memories. i've been looking for this for a long time. THANKS!!!
Who here thinks this preshow was better than the one with the stupid ad for Kodak?
Michael was here before "honey", and he deserved to come back as a tribute.
who besides me remembers way back when a different version of this was played before you went in and watched Michael Jackson in Captain EO?
i was watching your other movie (a whole new world recording), which all of you should see, and i wanted to see what other things you posted. I'm glad i did! That was absolutly beautiful!!!!
Wonderful. This is a lovely preshow, it captivated me when I saw it 8 years ago, thanks for putting it on youtube.
Why can't Disney be like this anymore? It used to MEAN something, represent more than just a multimillion business! It's like they've forgotten that it all started with a boy who drew in pitch all over his country home!

First off can I buy the video? Second off how did they not get cyndi to sing for this!
I was pretty cynical as a kid but this truly made me want to grow my imagination, even long after the ride & vacation was over
Cindi Lauper is a rich songwiter.
Well, it`s my edit but you`re welcome

marni1971 yeah, he should atleast credit you for your work.
I worked at HISTA at Dland
@jetset59 Glee's not THAT bad. It kicks High School Musical's ass any day of the week!
Best part: "Video not for sale" -- Dang it. Was kinda hoping it was. ;-)
I have copies of the music, not the best quality but it works, tell me how I can get it to you and I will.
I will be really interested to find the music somewhere... i love this cover
@SparkleXmotion so very true!!!!!!!!!!!
of all the pictures in that presentation, the only one I always remembered was the pic of that little Asian boy at the end.
@jetset59 I think Glee did a remix of this song, but the original sounds much more moving/deep.
what the hell happened to epcot even though i've never been on any of the rides that are no longer at epcot i've heard that they inspired people and encouraged people to do things that they've never done before so what the hell happened to epcot
hello.. where can i find this music please. Txs sooooooo much
How can I get the original? I would die for this.
I have been looking for this music to use on a family picture video for at least 7 years... how did you get it and would you mind telling me how I could come by it? It would mean the world to me. Thanks a million!
I LOVE DISNEY BECAUSE I SEE ITS TRUE COLORS
where did you get the video for a whole new world recording session?
DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN GET A COPY OF THIS PRESHOW? I AM WILLING TO PAY FOR THAT. I TRIED TO GET IT AT EPCOT. IT SEEMS TO ME PEOPLE CAN NOT REMEMBER WHAT THIS IS ANYMORE. HUGS.
HOW IN THE HELL CAN I GET THIS. I PAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember hearing this in Trolls
THERE IS AN EVIL ATTITUDE BEHIND THIS THAT WON'T RELEASE THE ORIGINAL BEAUTY TO THE PUBLIC.
Who´s sing this version?
lol...........
