This is my favorite type of content. I watch the reactions but they are quite long and I would say often filled more with entertainment than educational content. But this format is nice as it's between the project/inspirational of the main channel but at the same time more conversational, like sharing a cool thing.
Hey Flip, perhaps go easier on the audio compressor/limiting input gain, also try shorter attack and longer release values to minimize distortion. There also exist breath remover plugins, and some are free. Cheers!
I like this kind of content. Maybe it has fewer views, but this is one the most inspirational to me!! Btw, I like your idea to get one day of the week and trying to learning somethings new
Please never stop making these. You are really good at reminding people about their own abilities and encouraging them to do better. I always think about how I need to be more resilient because of you.
Definitely like this kind of content. Using PrimeTime for a little tech news and opinion pieces, this channel for smaller more direct content, and the main channel for big projects sounds great to me!
This showcase style content is one of my favourites that you put out! They're always super interesting and I always take away something new to learn about. Its also nice as I cant hang out on twitch so this feels like a way that I can still be part of the Prime community 😀
too many devs have lost, or never learned, to be sensitive to pain. the mentality of "that's just how it is" and settling is holding back so many devs. this is also why, when people are told to build a side-project, they ask what they should build. there are inconveniences all around. but people lack the laziness/impatience/hubris to even think that they could build a better solution.
Your comment hits the nail on the head, but unfortunately smashes through the finger too. It's not about laziness or anything close to that. It's about having deeply ingrained "user mindset" over "maker's mindset". It's about how they perceive themselves. This is why picking up Vim and not just keybinds *can result* to some radical change. Because they subconsciously draw a line between "what can be changed" and "what is just meant to be used". This is also why most kids that end up being decent in this start with video game mods, bots, etc. They get an early taste of creation on something that they play or chat on, instead of making todo lists or clean architectured Java API's to impress some hiring manager. It's just empowering.
I adopted this mindset of making your own tools a few months ago and it helped me improve at a much faster rate. I've not only solved problems I've had the way I wanted them solved but I learned a ton in the process.
This is what I miss about pre-internet days, when we got annoyed by something and then we fired up Borland IDE and tried to make something that solved our issues. It often was trash and full of bugs, but it did what we needed most of the time. Then I got a modem and started browsing BBS after BBS and kept finding tools that were better than what I wrote and just like that the age of making our own tools was over.
I do like this content! It is refreshing to see your opinions about things that you think actually make a difference instead of just your opinions about random internet articles.
This pushes me towards making my own editor more so than learning Vim :^) (and there are lots of small open source editors that can serve as a start, if you need one) And, about the format of these videos: HELL YES.
I really really like this type of content. Hopefully others like it as well. For me since im a beginner and feel like my working memory aint too sharp i’m working on using tools (text expanders) that help with that issue (i can expand on this if interested) As well as help improve my work/dev environment to reduce friction from idea/problem to execution (a challenge is always design and figuring the problem, blahblahblah, etc) . Lastly at the same time not lose sight that at the end of the day (minus the heck of it) is just about providing value (via time or money)
Ah, I would like to watch just him doing vim things instead of those "reaction blogposts reading" type of videos I learned so much from his videos and I would like to learn even more
Neat idea for a plugin. I don’t know that I’d label this as Vim plugin, though, since I don’t think pre-packaged Vim supports lua plugins; gotta compile your own to get that, I’m pretty sure. About 15 years ago or so, though, I wrote myself a Vim plugin (using vimscript, as Bram intended) for Perl. It offered improved syntax highlighting and some IntelliSense type completion. Integrated with vim’s :make to do compile checks and quick fix for errors. It was pretty great when I was doing lots of Perl dev work. I haven’t needed it in about a decade now.
I'm making my own thumbnail designer with javascript. After taking so much time to open a video and screenshot the correct moment of the video, I made an app that I can use to open, select the time, and extract the exact frame I want. It will serve not only my use but also so I can improve my programming knowledge.
Why do you always use `config = ` instead of the recommended `opts =` for setup args and `keys = ` for keybinds? It takes a little bit more knowledge to set up lazy loading for some things by setting the other opts, but it's the current recommended way in the docs.
Love this type of content instead of the reaction videos

Compressor workin overtime here
Sounds like he's been smoking all night

It's like 20dB of compression with extremely fast release time. Fascinating stuff!

This is an awesome recap Prime :)
Prime sounds like he's about to record a blues song with his blues-y voice
Please keep doing this and keep doing what you love
I can relate, I literally just wrote a simple nvim session manager yesterday and I am thinking of packaging it as a plugin
from ThePrimeagenaneenn straight to John RFCena

ffmpeg mentioned?
We love this kind of content prime
4:22 literally a leetcode problem lol
I just got my ears assaulted when he inhaled
Now Telescope to the list of bookmarks/notes to easy jump! :)
Great stuff! We are wainting for more!
You're liking this type of content and we are too. Win win.

Great Video. Like the concept man!
Hi prime, I wish you put more long programming session here and I want you to keep doing these talks !
This might just be one out of hundred comments. But yes, I love this type of content.

The video of you making the plugin would be fun.
Problem with custom tooling is that you have to convince everyone else on the team to use it
i dig this kind of stuff
Please make more of these
Me: "I don't like facebook."
Person B: "So build your own"
BUT THIS IS NOT HOW THIS WORKS
Love em, keep em coming

i loveeee these videos
I know it was not the main point of the video, but I would be interested in a explanation on how to write plugins
Love these videos !!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this videa

Keep it up bro!!! Not enough real content on yt. TH-cam is getting repetitive. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
