    Some years ago while the St. Etienne Caen Cavaille-Coll organ was being restored I followed the process with posts and updates by someone involved - fascinating. I have a commercial recording of the restored instrument which is quite good, but this recording by Richard is stunning. Captures the genius of Cavaille-Coll with superb presence especially in the Franck Chorale 3 in A minor - the registration comes through amazingly. The wonderful quality of the recording equipment is exemplified when toward the end of the piece when Richard engages the 32' contre-bombarde and those pedal notes including those producing the lowest frequency bass notes nearly knocked me off the chair I was sitting while listening - absolutely fantastic!! Many thanks to Richard - and to France's Ministry of Culture for having the organ restored to such glory. Interesting that it now has been electrified - apparently including the action as well

    A fantastic sound perfectly played on a wonderful Organ. If my late Son was only here to enjoy it, but then I know he would give anything to have his hands on that keyboard. He still holds the Record for being the youngest to play his own music to a full House in the Albert Hall London aged two days into his 14th year. I am the very proud Father of Christopher Tambling FRCO. who played his first Service in Beaulieu Abbey aged ten in 1976.

    Ref. Richard's comment about the organ pedal challenges in the Dupre piece in this series of recordings it appears to me that with the Bach piece the pedal work is so much a challenge that one would almost need to be super-human to accomplish it Richard has!

    WOW!!! What a brilliant and superb concert. There were some new composers that I never knew about and one or two that I did know about and Richard was very informative about them all. So enjoyed this superb concert. Thank you.

    Bravo!! Brilliant playing and registration!! Enjoyed immensely. couple of nonmusical comments: Apply black polish to those organ shoes. Care of shoes doesn't match care of your other attire. Camera angle on the Bach needs better positioning to show your superb foot work. The Mozart piece had the best lighting of the pedal board. Suggest using that lighting for your pedal board PIP. Thanks for your type of cameras. GoPro or Lumix for pedal PIP? "Next" pedal briliant rigging. Connects to computer by USB, but how do you tell computer to change registration? Thank you, Richard.

      Battle-worn organists' shoes indicate the life they have lead tripping up and down the pedalboard. That are like Barristers' gowns where every mark and tear represent a courtroom battle. New gown = new Barrister!

    • @John-hr5bj
      @John-hr5bj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Richard Nott WOW. I will not even to justify or support British reasoning on barrister ragged black robes as experience. “tripping up and down the pedalboard “ in USA is with the SOLE of the shoe-not with side of the shoe. Polished uppers, sides, and heels are simply my bias to one’s presentation. Just have to give Richard a tease. Jonathan Scott has “tripped up and down” the pedalboard, yet has polished AND Shined organ shoes. YT organists Paul Frey, Gert, James Flores (Aussie) in barrister comparison are New Organists.

    • @Edward_Hughes

      Organ shoes shouldn't be polished. But nor should they really have cameras pointed at them, or be gawked at by the uninitiated.

    • @John-hr5bj
      @John-hr5bj 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Edward_Hughes Polished organ shoes is my opinion. Thanks for your opinion. Camera on pedalboard allows me to observe organist’s pedal technique. I always willing to learn from accomplished organist. That is not “gawking” and I am not “uninitiated” in all the aspects of organ playing!!

    From this point onward, it appears that unless we watch Richard's recitals (such as this one on 5 ORGANS, dated Saturday, October 3, 2020) when he's ACTUALLY streaming them in REAL TIME, we will no longer be able to watch them later on, as evidently he's decided not to leave them available for subsequent, after-hours viewing, for the same reason why he had to remove his previous ones. I hope I'm mistaken in my understanding.
