since you can change penthouse lots to be anything in city living, I'm hoping we can build our own apartments on top of the existing buildings there
Sounds like it will be possible. They said you can do this in any liveable Sims 4 world! So that’s pretty exciting.

that was my first thought! i never end up visiting the sims that have moved out of my legacy household much because of loading screens etc., so having the grandparents/aunts/uncles etc. close will be so nice!

Just based on how the Sims has been, and then how the Sims 4 is. A tenant revolt will likely just be a paycheck once it's started. To where the revolters will get paid, based on the issues and based on the number of other tenants you get to revolt with you.
I don't see them doing a housing co-op situation. But we might get the option to edit that in Build Mode to be kind of a co-op situation.

Largely because that is where they're living so they're just breaking stuff they use, and violating any ground they have to stay living there.
I know a LOT of people dislike Landlords because a LOT of them are notorious for not fixing lots when they break or go bad, so for EA to make the tenants just break more stuff as a response, seems like it's in poor taste.
That would be too deep unfortunately.

Squattering and tenants stopping to pay without being able to be evicted ... is a big problem in many european countries... is this going to be an option? Like they don't give you burglars but you can steal the full house?

I also live in a country where evicting tenants is illegel and only now when you said that it's a European thing I realize that it might not be the case in the US, playing as a land-lord will be either super difficult or super overpowered depending on if landlord can evict non-paying tenants, and the same goes about playing as tenants. Maybe they will make it as a game option so you can control the difficulty of the game?
possibly to do with the blackmailing that one tenant appears to be doing towards the tenant whose apartment she broke into, yes!!!
I'm actually kind of glad they didn't give us THESE types of apartments when City Living came out because I feel like everything will look sharper and better quality. Some of the older packs (Get To Work's stores) could have been sooo cool. I'm so excited!

finally more city like gameplay! im so sick of suburbia, i just can't relate. i love the cultural aspects! and the cas looks stunning, especially that long one ear tucked hair. im hoping this pack, and what looks like a new sickness feature, will be cross compatible. as well as for some more cultural, and alternative style cas fashions, it feels like we desperately lack those in current game

Same, I grew up in apartments and although my family has lived in a European suburbs, I would much prefer to have apartments. It just drives me crazy how ridiculous the windows and window placement is in the in-game apartments so I end up not playing in them.

@@Kasiarzynkayeah Americans acquaint suberbia to single family houses and low-density, but plenty of suburbs have so much more than that, I personally grew up in many different houses, some of them were in a decent sized city, some of them were in small towns, but non of them were a single family house because my mum was always too scared of burglars

Still super excited about this pack I've always liked the apartment play style but hated the apartments available.
I will absolutely be using this to make giant complexes where all of my OCs can live together while also having their own spaces and their families and everything!!! This will be awesome!

Watch Maxis put a hard limit on the number of people that can live on a lot.
Hotels/hotel rooms are at the top of my list and I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't find a way to sneak those in this pack, but here's hoping they can use the new rental system to release a hotel pack soon. PS I can't wait to download a Coraline's Pink Palace house off the gallery once this pack is released lol

That would be cute! Or even like an airbnb where you can build lux or crappy airbnbs and have visitors stay for just a short time and will rate your place after they leave.
100% I want hotels so much and I'm a little afraid this means that pack will never happen.
This might lend itself to another expansion later on for hotels.

It’s probably still going to be 8. It’s limited for better performance on lower-end hardware. That said:
I don’t see why they can’t add an option in the settings that lets you bump the limit, while also adding a warning about performance. Similar to the “total Sim cap.” Recommended number of total Sims in the world is around like 80, but you can bump it to 120 if you so desire.
@@kelskels4079unlikely to be 8. these sims aren't all in the same household. you can have up to 20 sims on a single lot in the game I believe.

I wonder if they're do a "playable" vs townies if that makes sense? Like you can have an apartment and have 8 playable sims but there's townies that live in other apartments?
It'll probs be 8 but I think it'll act kinda like CL apartments. Each designated room for rent is the cap of 8 so if you have 4 rooms for rent, that would be 4 families of a max 8 sims if that makes sense.
I am hoping the Sims would have it so you can have multifunction lots like a cafe with an apartment above. I feel like we are getting closer lol.. a girl can dream
I was thinking the same thing! Having a cafe below or coffee/tea shop or clothing store etc would be great! LOL or can you imagine having a bar below? That would cause some drama if it were noisy, lol. I'd really like to have a vacation rental though. I was hoping this pack would be a combo apartment and vacation rental type. Sadly I don't think so.

Me too!! I've built so many of these but having it as a residential locks it to other sims and making it a cafe allows other sims to use the apartment. We need a middle ground 😭
@@kkaebsongg I kind of half managed it with a flat above a yoga studio - it involved a lot of faffing about making sure customers could get through into the front room only and then all the rest of the doors were locked to everyone except the homeowners. Pretty hit and miss as to whether anyone would actually turn up for the classes though! Can't really invite people over either unfortunately. :(
Now that this pack is real I’m gonna NEED you to tune your pastel townhouses to work with it and then put them on the gallery!

Hi Kayla, I always watch your reactions because you are such a positive Simmer! I'm Filipino/Southeast Asian and not to be dramatic but I got teary eyed with just the care that they took in designing the furniture! Not a fan of landlords as well, and I also wanted some form of hotel or motel, but this is so exciting :) I decided to get this for my birthday which is in a few days

Still disappointing that there is no mention of collaboration with actual South Asian Game Changers. An Asian-American rapper is better than some white chick from suburbia, but still - they could have done so much damn better. Especially as we have been complaing about this ever since Snowy Escape.

@@lucasb9285 I'm referencing Deligracy, Lilsimsie and Simsupply being constantly asked to build for the packs, including all the ethnic packs, starting with Snowy Escape, where some of them made very questionable decisions.
Instead of the top creators from western countries - they should have hired actual community members and game changers from the respective areas. We literally have dedicated East Asian architecture majors in the community and they weren't even approached for the Snowy Escape pack. Here I'm afraid we may once again only get one Asian-American rapper out of no-where and no actual South Asian community input.
I appreciate that despite Simsie being given the packs for free, and even if she wasn’t she can easily afford to buy any pack they release, she remembers being unable to get the packs on release and hates that people are losing items by waiting for packs to go on sale

Honestly, to me it just shows that she hasn't played a lot of games. A lot of MMOs, for example, will give bonus items if you pre-order expansion packs. It's not uncommon.

CANNOT wait for the return of landlord!Stanley. Also, the clothes in this look so stunning? I haven't been blown away by the CAS in any pack apart from Cottage Living and Werewolves and that's because they went all in with the theme and gave us things we haven't had before, but these are actually just beautiful. Actually excited about this one for sure!
9:40 based on this picture (which btw doesn't have doors into either bedroom lol), it looks like you can select more than one room at a time so i'm hoping for a pre-pack update that lets you upload apartments to the gallery, even the city living ones 🤞 although it's a notoriously bad idea to have hopes when it comes to EA so maybe not hahah

Yes but still no cars or any real motorized vehicles that our Sims can use, instead of just have as decoration! That is the thing I have wanted for 9 years now, and it sure doesn't look like we are getting them anytime soon! Sure I suspect they MIGHT give it to us for the 10th anniversary, but if they don't, then I will know they have no intentions on ever giving us cars! Which is so dumb, seeing as it's actually something most people use everyday in real life, unlike horses!
@@nikkicat254 to be fair, I'm not really sure how they'd add cars to the Sims 4. Since it's not open world, there would be nowhere to actually drive and no way to use the cars other than decoration, which the debug cars already do. So I doubt they'd add them.
@nerdstehword the Sims 3 on console wasn't open world but we had cars driving down the street into a loading screen is honestly better than nothing just breaks the immersion being able to do so much in a life simulator but we can't even own cars drive them or teach teens how to drive

A sims pack I would love to see would be a tattoo pack. I don't see very many tattoos that are really true to what people get nowadays and I would love the aspect of having to use the calendar to schedule a tattoo appointment at the tattoo shop. They could have quirks like good sitter, high pain tolerance, tattoo junkie, etc. I think the game with having to go to a tattoo shop lot to get tattoos/piercings would be really sweet.
Example: taking your kid to get their ears pierced for their birthday, a teenager getting their first tattoo, etc. A tattoo artist playable career would also be awesome!!! There's so many ideas and I would LOVE to work alongside EA to make that or to even see real life tattoo artists design the tattoos would be so cool because there are SOOOO many styles. As a person who has 10 tattoos at 19 years old, its a need, not a want.

Its crazy how somehow accurate they portrayed SEA areas. They remind me so much of thai and ph, ph with snooping marites and how much this pack feels super comforting. I feel like this would be one of my all time favourite world.

I especially love that not only can we own apartments, but actually build them! Part of me wondered if we would have premade apartments that we could edit and decorate in, but knowing that we can actually have full control of the build style is great! Would be a fun pack to build multiple houses on a giant lot too lol
So so so happy to have a Southeast Asian inspired world! I live in the Philippines and Island Living was the closest thing I could get. But this is more relatable to me since I live in the city. And I am SO excited for rice cookers and Pancit!
Also super excited about building apartments, and that we can build them anywhere. I just got Snowy Escape and was thinking of building fake Japanese apartments - but now they can be real!
And it really sucks that those street eats stuff is limited early bonus only. They’re such iconic items to me but the packs are so expensive I only get to buy on sale.

So I’m in Australia and the area I live in doesn’t really have like apartments, townhomes stuff like that, but we do have “flats” which are basically a bunch of little 1/2 bedroom places all stuck together in a line… I’m not a great builder but I’m definitely going to be attempting to build some Aussie flats when we get this pack ❤

@@AussieMama2 we have something similar, one/two story line of condos. apartments are basically the same as condos except apartments are usually at a larger scale in a bigger building and are run differently than condos are. at least that's how i perceive it

I think Sims is giving us what we want because they're "finnishing" the game in a sense.
Why finishing? They said that the Sims 4 will still get updates and new Packs way after the Sims 5 is out.

100% agree. it doesn’t look like project renesme is sims 5, and even if it is, the whole “works across all devices” thing means it’s certainly not gonna be a sims game the way we’re used to
@asia7100 I think when they said project Renee is going to be released along side the sims 4, they mean a mixed launch (dunno what it's actually called).
Consider the ps5. It is out, but the ps4 is still supported to a degree, and the same with the Xbox (I'm pretty sure but idk Xboxs). The ps2 was similar, when the ps3 launched.
They want project Renee to get high adoption before they pull the sims 4 plug, whatever it is, since it'll be free to play but with paid dlc (iirc)
very excited for the pack but i really hope that 1) we can choose the doors we want to place as the main entrance to an appartment and there's not just a couple of specific doors we MUST use and 2) we can just live in the appartments without having to be landlords, it might be fun but i prefer to simply be a tenant
hey i do think that you can build apartment complexes from scratch so you will be absolutely able to place you own doors!! 🩷 and also i do think that you can be a tenant too as there is sims with “tenant” above their heads
@@winshlussam434the fact we can build the complexes from scratch doesn't garantee that we will be able to pick any doors As she said in the video, there must be a way to divide the area to give each tenant their own space and that could be done few different ways
- one of them is having a "tenant door" for which you can select the sims able to access
- or just a feature available to all doors in these types of lots that do the same thing
- I was also thinking about a floor tool to assign space, like floor layer available in different colours in build mode that are invisible in game and you just add it over your floor with a different colour for each appartement, that way the game knows which space belong to who
- the same could be done with a wall tool I guess, where you draw the perimeter of each appartements
I could imagine they'd make you make a specific sim the landlord but that you don't have to play them, similarly to how you can buy a restaurant/retail lot as one household and then switch to another household in manage worlds
I just watched a build you did the other day where you made apartments and you said “ I’m not hinting at anything, I really just like building apartments.” and the chat was like “is this a hint?”. Lol when I saw this come out I literally laughed and thought of that stream build.
Mold zombie, I think, is a reference to "The Last of Us" video game/HBO series because within the series - mold issues in Southeastern Asia causes the zombie breakout/apocalypse
Am I crazy or are the two Sims talking at the table at 19:03 using sign language? Nothing official like ASL but is it wishful thinking that we can make Sims nonverbal/preferring sign? That would be INCREDIBLE! I kinda doubt that that’s what I’m seeing, though.

Same! I found TS2 Apartment Life at a second hand shop a few years ago and I've always loved the ability to create my own rentals. Sometime's that's all I do, building condos, or trailer parks.

I am very excited about For Rent expansion pack. I don't think I've ever been this excited before about an expansion pack. I have all these ideas in my head about the city, and how I'm gonna build an apartment finally!! I also like the idea of the market! YESSSSS! This will really “fix” those massive lots in the regular residential area of Del Sol Valley! A struggling actress living in a multi-family dwelling seems so much more fitting a use for that lot!

Personally, I'm most excited to see everyone's apartments and renovate the insides, not a fan of building exteriors personally. Now this is absolutely awesome I remember sims 2 apartment life and always wanted this…. But wow you’re right this year the sims team I think is feeling the pressure from looming competition! Ngl I’m somewhat impressed with the recent releases.
I’m a little mad bc these were things that could’ve been in City Living… but those pack were so new at the time, I’ll let it slide. The new world and activities part, I’m excited for. I’m black, and my boyfriend is Filipino. Every time we try to re create him in the game, I was sad that there not enough south asian representation, so we settled for mt. komorebi vibes, which is more Japanese 😅. Playing sims with him is gonna be more fun!
This is the thing I have wanted for literally YEARS. I was just looking up ways I could make maids work like a sort of maintenance team in my homemade apartment to give it more authenticity while using the roommate system to simulate tenants. I'm so freaking happy we can finally just make apartments and I want it NOW.

I think city living ones will stay as is since they are apartment lots. They aren’t gonna change those lot types. Then when you build your own apartment it will be a rental lot no matter what you are building on it wether it be apartment or duplex or whatever.
Technically the apartments all load up on the same floor in City Living so they could easily retrofit it all to work as a multi-family lot. You very likely still couldn't touch the exterior or elevator though.

I love watching lil simsie go over these new packs because she answers almost every questions I have. My main concern was weather I could live off lot and just come in take a peek make sure everything is cool and then bounce or if I have to live on the lot. Legit not even 10 mins in , BOOM my girl comes In clutch gotta love it

Excited for multi-family lots….i wish we could also have multiple businesses/owners on a lot as well. Like a restaurant next to a cafe each owned by someone else etc.
Having visited Thailand a few years ago and adored it, it's really cool to see architectural and design features in this pack that are so clearly Thai. Even the hanging wall carving in one of the shots - I have something very similar from Thailand hanging on my living room wall right now.

I am quite excited for this pack to come out. I have already made a Senior 4 Plex (modeled after my 4 Plex) and shared it in the Gallery. So I will definitely go back and set it up as an Apartment dwelling next month.

My big question is how many separate living spaces can you have per lot? Like if I want to make a rental building with 6 or 8 different apartments? Or is it limited to like 2 or 3? This makes or breaks the pack for me 🤔
I wonder how the UI will work in that aspect. 🤔 As in, what are the requirements to fulfill that it's an apartment? I wonder if it will be broad or specific. For example. If i make a tenet "room," can i get away just putting a bed and fridge? Something similar to university buildings, were everything the students needed in the main local rooms.
Is it like roommates where i can shove as many sims on the lot as long as i have a bed and space for their stuff?

@kikml22 I believe you can build more than 2 or 3 but in only 2 or maybe 3 appartments will sims/households be able to live (''be playable together'') in.. So I think the rest wil be empty/uninhabited then just like City Living....I'm not 100% sure how it works but I heard an other sims youtuber talk about it.....And he told that he was disappointed about the restriction.
might be limited per number of sims also, like on community lots there can be 20 sims max and then they start leaving

That sounds like city living, no? It would be cool if they had more apartments like that or if you could build apartment buildings and live in them as tenants but you can technically already be a tenant

I think the 'keep rental ratings high' means keeping the tenants happy and everything functioning, not keeping the rent high, so idk where the evil landlord thing is even coming from here? But I am looking forward to this pack so much, and being able to finally build multi-family lots.
It’s trendy to be “against landlords” even though they’re usually just people doing their best playing the game, earning passive income we all dream of….. like lil simsie (and all TH-camrs) making a video and continuously getting $$ after the fact…..

My most favorite parts are that the shrine (in Thai we called “ศาลพระภูมิ”) is included, and also that squat toilet too, lol.
Early purchase items are super scummy and I’m glad you talked about it. If they want an early purchase incentive I should be a “first dibs” kind of thing where you get the items early before they get added for everyone. Or like preview items for the next pack that you get early, if they were able to line that up.

I just don’t think it’s a big deal because it’s not important things. Like items that are already in game or in the pack but a different design. Like the bike, rocking chair, and baby carrier. Also the items aren’t really anything great anyways lol. It does stink for people that get into the game later and missed that item but I’m sure there’s cc for that.
